*** Official Elder Scrolls MMO Thread ***

Do you actually read peoples posts before you get your knickers in a twist Dog ? I was extremely delicate in how I tackled my comments about your precious game. Seriously, it's like treading on eggshells or trying to get a passout from my woman discussing things with you ;)

I raised some valid points, firstly the questing is just as generic as other MMos yet you seem to act like it's revolutionary !!

Graphics are average, average if you look at what a modern day PC can push out. My rig ran this maxed out with no problems which is also a good thing but don't act like this is Crysis 4. I'm not just talking visuals and eye candy, I'm also saying the animations look average which they are.

Now, every MMo I've ever played has clicked with me within the first few hours. This simply doesn't do that for me and neither does Wildstar (not that it's relevant).

I'm still going to level up over the weekend, let a few mates try it and see what they think, I value their mature unbiased opinions you see.

Yeah I read your comments and replied. Some of them where not valid. Like the PVE combat as that's fixed already and I agreed on the pvp.

I never said questing was revolutionary, I said I felt it had depth and purpose and it's much better then wildstars. Again answering your points.

Since you seem to be new to mmos, ill explain

Mmos have since forever had lower graphical quality then single player and other multiplayer games. Now when I said the graphics are fantastic, that is in relation to Mmo graphics and other Mmo games. Not singleplayer or multiplayer games.

Now, every MMo I've ever played has clicked with me within the first few hours. This simply doesn't do that for me and neither does Wildstar (not that it's relevant).

Now your just decending into childish name calling. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. I will stop discussing this game with you here, there is no point discussing when people get upset and angry.

I've tried this twice now and it really is 2nd in comparison to SWTOR for lacking as an MMO.

At least SWTOR's single-player experience was good ;)

2nd install and I uninstalled it after 20mins as it's so clunky and lacking in depth.

Horses for courses I suppose and there'll be people out there that love it, but it's soulless and rubbish for me, although the PvP is meant to be quite good but not tried that as I'd rather save my cash than pay for this.

I actually think it'll go F2P just like SWTOR did too.

Childish name calling ? New to MMo's ? .... Make stuff up much ?

How anyone can choose to get offended by someones views on a computer game is beyond me. I gave reasonable views on my experience with this MMo.

There is nothing in ESO that stands out from other MMo's I've played. Now that's not the same as someone saying 'ESO is carp' can you see the difference ?

I am going to play on, and I'll be back here giving my opinions afterwards. Stop lambasting people who don't agree with your views.

I think the graphics are superb considering the limitations of the genre. The fact that you can have 2 thousand, thousand people slogging it out without much framrate loss and the graphics manage to keep their fidelity, is amazing; let's not forget that SWTOR couldn't even handle twenty people in the same area without the engine wheezing and having a massive coronary. They're not as stylistic as WoW or Wildstar but then they were never going to be considering the lineage of the series they're based on. You also have to remember that while you (and many others) have a great rig, they can't use that as the median when making the game so they will always lower the graphics to reasonable levels to attain the highest amount of subscribers/players as they can.
In all, I think the environments are are good as TSW and better than Tera, but the character models in Tera are superior.
I know what you mean about the animation eekfek. Some parts are very good (I like the forward roll after a fall and the heavy two handed attack is nice) but the running and running in attack mode, it's almost like the lower half of the body is locked into position. The spine moves but the arse and legs don't. It's very strange and something that really should have been picked up on ages ago, unless they have issues with the character models and have done their best to remedy already.

Questing wise, it's well below TSW (everything is) but I'd say it's better than your usual motley crew of MMO's; the quests themselves have a little bit of meat to them and I'm very glad that it finally seems that quest hubs are vanishing. It's so much better to go and hunt the quests out or stumble upon them when you're exploring, than visiting some scrub village in the middle of nowhere and have everyone standing in a circle vying for your attention to go and kill 10 badgers and collect their nackers.

While I'm sure some people won't like the game for whatever reason, I'd hazard a guess and say the biggest hurdle it will face is the preconception from the masses that all MMO's have to be done like WoW, because they believe that game invented the genre. If anything deviates from the way WoW did/does it, then it instantly gets seen as a negative for a lot of players (you only have to read the chat channels in every beta test for every game to see the majority comparing the game to WoW). Not to mention the amount of outright lies you see perpetuated "this game is going to have a cash shop" is one of the most frequently seen, but no one corrects the fact it'll be for account services and not P2W stuff.

I think every MMO, for better or worse is always going to live in the shadow of WoW and everytime they try and do something different, the end result is usually a chorus of boos and cries of 'WoW does it better' so I say bravo to any game that tries to garner its own identity.

You went in expecting Skyrim and left disappointed. What did you expect? That's the problem with most of the people in this forum, they expected Skyrim and they never got it. It's a completely different game....

Well, why shouldn't people expect it to be similar to the other games? That's pretty much how they're marketing it.

Elder Scrolls Morrowind
Elder Scrolls Oblivion
Elder Scrolls Skyrim
Elder Scrolls Online.

The only similarity it has with the other Elder Scrolls games are the names on the map.

Sorry I'm not sure if your being serious or not.

So should I expect WoW to be like Warcraft RTS?

Just because it has elder scrolls attached to it, doesn't automatically mean its going to be a skyrim clone. Its in a different genre, by different developers and aimed at mainly different players.

Its like comparing american football with English football. They both have football in the name so we should expect them to be the same right?

They are marketing it as a MMO set in the elder scrolls universe. They have implemented more traditional ES content, like first person, skill based progression and things to make it feel familiar, but at the same time remain unique. And I think they have done a great job.

So much praise on the beta forums, reddit, in game and around the web at the moment. Its a nice change of pace to the handful of vocal haters in here.

This is being marketed as an Elder Scrolls game but online.

From the official website:
Return to Tamriel in The Elder Scrolls Online, the latest chapter of the award-winning series, and bring the legendary experience online for the first time. Explore the vast world with friends or embark upon an epic adventure alone — the choices you will make will shape your destiny.

By reading the above, what bit would inform you that it's a completely different game? They certainly don't try to sell it as something different, they're putting it out as the next game in the series, an online follow on to Skyrim.

We must use different search engines. Most places I've read have stated this game is dire and will be free to play in less than a year.

God, don't ask that in this fora or you'll have all the naysayers coming in to tell you how rubbish it is. Get a key and decide for yourself or go check out other games forums they don't have the level of partisanship that this one does.

It depends who answers my question. Some members, even those I might like - I'll still take their comments lightly, while others I'll listen to with a bit more interest. Nothing negative meant with reference to yourself. :)

Its actually grown a little on me since last beta , though perhaps thats partly down to having the missus in game with me this time around.

I still hate the lvl 1-10 bit, its mind-numbing, but thats been addressed to a degree anyway.

Still got things I love, like the no names over players heads, the reading of books etc for skill gains and other things which make it worthwhile to explore and take your time rummaging through things. I actually quite like the graphics, which I think are pretty decent really for an MMO, though very grey/brown, but then that colour palette is Elder Scrolls really.

Its grown on me, but its still not one that I would pay a monthly fee for, however if it was f2p I could see myself playing it now.
