**** Official Fallout 4 MODS Thread ****

Pretty basic question this but when you download and activate a mod in NMM and then you fond there has been an update for it published, usually smaller, when activated do you then keep both the original and update both activated in the NMM....?

Hope that makes sense :)

I always disable the old mod in NMM, then install the new one. Unless its a patch that you install alongside the main file. Sometimes an armour set will add body slide compatibility later that will be a patch, rather than new mod version. It's a good idea to keep hold of the old version for a while, just in case you need to revert back to it for whatever reason.

Check the instructions of the mod though as theres sometimes specific instructions, like uninstall the old mod, go in game and make a save then close the game and install the updated mod.

Thanks for that :)

I'm not really surprised at the demands of the ENB eye candy mod you posted, Enhanced Wasteland Preset. With it on....

with it removed.....

that is with a 1070 at 1440p.

I find that I can rarely reach 60fps with the ENB enabled and often the GPU is running at 100%. With it removed the GPU load can drop as low as 20% or so (varies between 20 and around 60+) but the FPS remain pretty constant at 60fps, as yet.

All down to what you prefer really, I used to like using SweetFX for Dying Light a while back and if you get the reset right for you it does make a tremendous difference.

It seems a good time to come back to this game, bought on release but not played much then, the DLC and patches, along with the maturity of some great mods (although no MMM mod like FO3) make it a lot better than what my early impressions were.

The reshade thing is personal preference, there are loads of different ones about. Tbh this is the only one I have tried and stuck with it. My version might even be a lot older as it was one of the first mods available. At the time its main aim was to sharpen things up and remove the white hue the entire world was covered in, which it did.

The difference between fps in your screenshots might also be due to the rain, you could try the weather mod Kelt recommended above, see if that's any better for performance. I do like the true storms mod, but find there isn't enough clear weather and the visibility always seems to be poor.

Also make sure godrays aren't on ultra, as this is a massive performance killer.

I can't believe I missed off the most important immersive mod - http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11357/? :D

There is a performance hit, not just about the weather. The differences noted in consistent between using the ENB or not. But, like you have noted, it is a personal thing. Sometimes if the effect is "too much" it can look too cartoony. But the one you had selected looks pretty good.

I like the other immersive mod ;)

BTW as for the God Rays check this out.....

mine are on Ultra and are fine.

Also there is this to compliment yours....?

looks good to me :)

I am testing out the True Storms mod, at least you can change the weather from the Pipboy, I'll see how that goes - literally.!

Hows it going guys? :)

I have an issue with the full dialogue interface mod, I installed it via NMM and followed the instructions, tried all three methods it gave me, and none work. The repacked files actually stopped the game from starting so I'm trying to sort that now...

Any ideas? Not on a beta version anymore, and this is the only mod ive tried to install.

There is I think, theres a folder you can back up which will then be picked up by a new install of NMM if you replace the folder with the one filled with mods, then re-apply and boom. Only thing is, you may need to re-do the manual config file edits if some mods require them.

And thanks Mark A, I'll try that now. :)

Thanks for that.

I was hoping for something like just having to backup a config fine for NMM, like an export and import function.
I would hate to lose all the work noted.

Btw I use a Full dialog mod for the speech, that works a treat. You can see that in the list that I posted.

I'm currently removing all traces of Fallout 4 from my system and re-installing, then trying to apply that single mod. The alternative version still didn't work, so clearly something else is up. :)

Is the OP up to date in terms of what mods to install?

Nope, I haven't played the game in a while as it was just disappointing

However, if someone wants to do a new list of the best mods what to install first etc. I'll gladly change the OP and give credit where credit is due :cool:
