**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

Any way to change keys found yet finding this is unacceptable in a 2015 game.
I cant play it until I can change E and have all my own binds on the numpad am an arrows for movement guy.

But this was what eventually cured it...

Set frame cap with RivaTuner to 60 (In addition to vsnyc)

Without that last step games stutters pretty bad when strafing and moving the mouse, any other settings just produced tearing.

Also download the adjustment tool from nexusmods. Gives you the option for mouse smoothing which for me has basically removed stutter that I had. Even 60 fps feels so much smoother than previously.

If you play the game with vsync enabled with a single card everything seems to be fine.

Disabling vsync causes the console glitch and trying to force SLI causes crashes to desktop and mostly reduced performance.


The game itself is pretty good, dialogue and voice acting is awful though but nothing new there. :D
 
I feel like I'm getting low FPS.. Using the rig in my sig on "High" settings I'm only getting around 40 with drops to 30 in areas. Is my spec so outdated that I can't run on high anymore?

Very annoying. I'm going around sneaking like a sneaky ninja, approach someone/something and see a red name. I think "AH HA! GOTCHA!" but then found out later after I reloaded the game that their name turned green when I approached them and they actually gave a quest :( . Kind of defeats the whole element of surprise thing.

I use the Red UI, and it just works Fallout 4 is becoming a lot like Dragon Age 2 when it comes to the site reviews vs. gamer reviews divide in opinion with all the bugs, streamlining (removed skills, every conversation is a dialogue wheel with yes-no-maybe-exit options, more a FPS than RPG), terrible storytelling and boring characters, a thousand linear fetch quests, terrible animations, aged graphics, cringey load pop-in, copy pasted elements from Fallout 3 and Skyrim, copy pasting world design, poor writing....etc. Bethesda really needs a new engine and should have let Obsidian handle the story and quests. Modders can fix the technical issues and put out graphical mods to make it look prettier, but no amount amount of mods can ever change how every character you meet in Fallout 4 is the most boring character you meet, giving out the most boring linear fetch quest to the same ruin or tunnel with the same copy pasted assets you've already seen a hundred times in the same outdated engine we've been playing in for years. Like Dragon Age 2, this is another example of hype culture falling flat in face of reality. In the pursuit of the more numerous casual gaming dollar, Bethesda has strayed far from the brilliance and intelligence of games like Morrowind. inb4 massive tide of hate for criticizing Fallout 4 and Todd's sweet lies

Edit: Restarted my PC, set everything to Ultra and after unticking borderless windowed I'm now getting 100 fps everywhere.. Apparently my PC doesn't like running Fallout 4 in a Borderless Windowed environment?

That's the game uninstalled. 4 crashes to desktop since I started playing at 5pm.

How games like this somehow get a free pass by players is beyond me. Not only does it look crap and run on a garbage engine. It's riddled with bugs, some bugs which were present in Skyrim.

I've not even gone into detail about the laughable cutscenes when you talk to someone.

It's just a poorly created, poor looking game that if it carried any other name other than Fallout it would have been panned by many.

Shame I can't get my money back as I would in an instant.
 
I'm about 5 hours in and put 4 points into every special when I started. Can't help feeling I've messed up future progression so I'm thinking about restarting. I'm only 6 and have put the last 6 points into special again rather than perks

It's your pc like many who have problems, unstable/to much fiddling :D
 
Seem to be stuck :( Got the terminal freeze bug and too unlock this door i need to find bobby pins, which i can't find not sure what to do now.
