**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

After getting rid of that annoying screen tearing I am finally enjoying the game with 10 hours racked up and I've only discovered 4 or 5 locations :D

I can't understand the negative reviews on steam thus far - half complain its "fallout 3 with another map" and the other half are nagging that its "not the same as the other games" - with the other few outraged that their 970 can't keep up.

What grates me the most though is this "its not next gen" rubbish - whats wrong with current gen?! This game looks just as good to me as Oblivion did on day 1.

How did you get rid of the screen tearing bud?

Gameplay is very good, lots of stuff to do. The engine on the other hand is bad at this early stage. Very inconsistent, hopefully patches and driver updates will fix these issues. This is the 1st game I have ever played where I got micro-stutter.

badboy why are you vac banned by the way :D :p:D

TL;DR
I cheated at the game out of sheer frustration. I rage bott'd once in a desperate attempt to stop playing the game finally. Not proud at all. I got what I deserved.

Nothing wrong with latest nvidia drivers badboy... My 970 is flying thru this game at 1080p and locked 100 fps..

Yeah single card is ok. I am glad it works for you bro. But my system has three cards :(

Guys question about settlements as i may be being stupid, ill put in spoiler tags as is may include some details about one of the early missions.

So when i started the game i decided to make Red Rocket my main base of operations, as such i spent a load of resources making it into a little home. So now im a few quests in past saving the people in Concorde and now ofc they want to go back to Sanctuary and have me build a base for them there.

Building it isnt so much the problem its more that all my materials are in Red Rocket, is there any quick way to share resources between settlements which im missing? Im guessing im gonna have to split everything in half and carry half of it back to Sanctuary but would be happy to know theres an easier way.

BTW i could never get into Fallout 3 for some reason, but this im enjoying quite a lot. Spent prob 10+ hours and ive still barely got past the first few story missions

You need your Charisma at level 6 to gain the Local Leader perk, you can then setup trade routes between the settlements this then connects your resources together.

Some settlements are suited to farm land where others lack space, so allows you to make a lot of food in one area and water in another. How it all sits together to benefit you, I've not seen yet.

My single 680 handles the game very well on ultra, your 780ti should do well, SLI works on the latest drivers but the game crashes every 40-60 minutes, 2560x1080 is my resolution.

Not sure what's going on for moi then! SLI makes frame rates worse. Tried everything from ini changes, NVinspector changes, praying to the Sun God

I can wait

Sun god is of no use, it's been raining the past week. :p

I guess you've tried just 2 cards in SLI? As beyond that it should at least work but with the possibility of CTD's. Only tweaks I have done was Nvidia Control Panel and set Fallout4.exe SLI rendering mode 2, not sure whether that's a required step but it's one I did.

AFAIK its to do with easy storage and access to supplies from any bench but I may be wrong there

You're right, but the whole settlement thing, trade routes and scavenging... what do we actually get out of it that's worth our while? I've not seen any real reason to keep the friendly folks of Sanctuary (or anywhere else) alive or do anything besides a few defences here and there and then be off on my jolly way.

Do they get ammo, supplies, make new weapons or armour? Having storage for parts so we can mod armour and weapons makes sense, but the rest of it just seems like a sidetrack task to add some longevity to the game?

Haha!

Yep tried two cards, AFR 1 and 2, diff SLI bits. It just simply doesn't work :)

I get 50-60fps at 1440p with 75% object distance. So happy enough for now

My thoughts exactly dude. The whole thing seems pointless and the first settlement I didnt even like the people there so I had no reason to give them anything. Hopefully it will open up a bit but the "base building" part of it just looks like a bullet point for the box and not much else. I can imagine an exec somewhere saying "the kids love Minecraft...we need building!":D

That was my thought but slightly different in that every survivalist game has this so should we.

I feel slightly overpowered already. 10 hours in and I've hardly left Sanctuary but I've found 4 suits already. Thankfully the 3rd was shooing back (I blew it up but got some spares) and the 4th is beyond my hacking skills for now.

Do all the walls look the same? I keep seeing everyones playermade houses look the same, every meter of house is repeated.

As with FO3 and NV I have ended up with a entire pharmacy worth of drugs in my back pocket and never seem to use them. Does anyone actually use them? I just use stimpacks to heal, but its a massive faff going through the inventory every time there's an enemy to pop some psycho or whatever.
