**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

As definitive as that then - that's good. I did find a good video on youtube of an 860 at 4GHz, and it seemed to run well on ultra settings with a 7950.

I'm not so sure really, the 860 is a good CPU when overclocked, but its hard to tell if its causing a bottleneck unless you back-to-back test it with something else!

In any case, even if it does bottleneck, I wouldn't worry too much if you still get playable frame-rates! :)

I could always try to push the overclock a bit further :p But I don't think 3.8GHz to 4+ will yield a huge difference. I'll just have to go for it.

Haven't had TOO much time to play, well 30 or so hours. Have barely touched any quests other than building the settlements and exploration. Fantastic game. Levelling is much slower than expected.

Repaired my castle walls today using some tips posted around, very satisfying, they actually look pretty seem less. They need to allow more objects in settlements though. In absolutely no rush to do the main quest.

Help!

I've got a distress signal I can't find, it's someone trapped and screaming from inside a railway cart. But I've checked inside the open ones and nobody there

Okay, I've just found an exploding hatch in the NW corner of the wasteland that you can open/shut but do little else with.

If you shot it from a distance it just blows up! Anyone else seen anything like this?

Also couldn't work this one out. Spent a good hour exploring the area but didnt find anything.

BTW think it might be best to add a hint at what is behind the spoiler tags or you have to reveal the spoiler to know if it is a spoiler or not lol.

Is anyone else getting this pixellated nastiness around the edges of objects?

Ok, I'm at level 15 now, and while I still really like the game, I've had some things that annoy me and even stop for the day.:

- 1 CTD for no obvious reason
- Stuck at terminal after hacking ( just after I spent a lot of time looting everything in the building), could only jump
- Odd letterboxing/window in a converation/dialogue
- Subs not working correctly in dialogue ( stuck on something that was said not moving on)
- The random framedrops for no apparant reason

Yup, this. I'll get 50-60FPS, then suddenly 15 for no obvious reason. I was using STALKER reshade, but it had too much FPS loss in shadowy areas so I got rid of it.v With the terminal, try alt tabbing out, then back in.

Check the MOD thread there is a Dynamic Shadows mod that helps to solve some of the shadow issues in the game. Might be worth trying it. :)

Finally got into base building yesterday, and although the floors are not perfectly aligned with the pre-set foundations of prior houses, I must say that I did a pretty damn good job with lining them up  Basically set up a base of operations with plenty of crafting tables, frames to hang Power Armour, etc.

Will have to read up on how to attract new settlers, but a few did start coming after a while so I guess I'm doing something right (...my back balcony consists entirely of tightly packed mattresses like sardines and corn plantations, oh what a lovely place to stay! :p)

Also the game seems to adapt pretty well depending on which way and what order you tackle missions...:

Originally I played up until Father got cancer and was made the leader of The Institute. Immediately all of the other factions started to hate me, and for good reason. Admittedly I reloaded a save and continue playing without interacting with Father, up until the Railroad quest line. I was tasked to infiltrate and sabotage The Institute from within (bypassing security, arming rogue synths, blowing up mining tunnels, etc.), and to divert any arousing suspicion surrounding the recent events, I actually went back to Father and "sided" with him to become the leader :p Little do they know... I think I will eventually side with the BoS when the time comes to make my final decision, but for now I'm exploring all potential options and reaching the end of each individual Faction quest line.
