**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

I decided last night, in a moment of madness, to kill all of the BoS members shortly after their invitation to join them on the Prydwen. I ended up loading an old save because I didnt want to miss out on their quests, but I still wonder how the game would playout with them as your enemy..

Help!

I've got a distress signal I can't find, it's someone trapped and screaming from inside a railway cart. But I've checked inside the open ones and nobody there

There is a small hatch on the ground near the train car that is on its side, really easy to miss

The Glowing Sea area seems OP? I've got fully upgraded power armor (Model F or something) and yet the Radscorpions still seem to kill me quite quickly. Playing on V. Hard, but the game has felt really easy until this moment.

Aesthetically it is awesome, totally different environment.

Have anyone here built a wall around Sanctuary ?? Only walls I can find is the normal house walls, is that what one suppose to use or what walls you using ??

and I have taken to building walls around the settlements using the concrete/wood floor foundation blocks..you can build them quite tall and they snap together...and come with a walkway on top that fences or walls will also snap to..and if you have varied levels due to terrain, the small stairs snap to them as well

so it makes lovely straight walls higher than a man, you can place cover or guard posts on top or just have a railing, and you can place turrets on top as well

AND you can then build inwards off them as well as other floor sections snap to them..they are ideal

and these also mean you can patch the holes in the castle wall much better as they can be varied in level over uneven ground..you can actually makie it look nice and seamless

Metal walls or shack walls.

Though i didn't go around the entire island, screw that, i just put some perimeter defenses around the the edges of the island and build a wall around the main buildings i use. I am focusing my efforts more on the Castle at the moment.

I have 3 settlements that i spend any significant effort on, the others just have a couple of turrets.

Ahh great, thanks I have a look at this when I am at Sanctuary next time, so far only have one settlement to worry about. :)

Thanks ! Yeah might not do the whole of the island, just got a couple turrets at the bridge right now and so far had one lone raider trying to cross. She got decimated fairly quickly though.

and when it comes to attacking sanctuary one of the spawn points is the small footbridge that you cross up to vault 111 behind sanctuary..I saw a whole load of ghouls spawn there

My settlement crafting experience so far only includes building an extension to Red Rocket. When you open up the garage door, it opens up to a shack (read, Man Cave). All it has so far are my three spare power armour shells, some lights, decorations, and a radio tuned to Diamond City Radio :D

I'll grab some screens tonight. I'm really struggling to understand the power parts. If I place a generator, does it automatically power adajecent objects? How am I meant to lay cables to lights and shacks? Ie, ceiling fans, wall lights... Where do they draw power from and how do I know when my generator is at max capacity?

My settlement experience is basically building a radio tower and powering it, plonking some mats on the floor, putting a pump in and adding two turrets to stop it being attached. Bare minimum.

I want to attract the special sellers but I don't understand how to do it. They sell legendary items apparently.

I think it depends on your perks and weapons mostly. Playing on Survival and the area is not too bad. But I tend to use long range hard hitting weapons such as the Guass Rifle or Gatling Laser that kills most things before they get to me. Maby depends on your build / weapon types I would imagine.

But yeah whole area is so different and pretty awesome. A real feeling of unease while in that environment.

Ok, I'm at level 15 now, and while I still really like the game, I've had some things that annoy me and even stop for the day.:

- 1 CTD for no obvious reason
- Stuck at terminal after hacking ( just after I spent a lot of time looting everything in the building), could only jump
- Odd letterboxing/window in a converation/dialogue
- Subs not working correctly in dialogue ( stuck on something that was said not moving on)
- The random framedrops for no apparant reason

I was having that issue. It's when your frame rate is too high it messes things up. You either have to limit your FPS to 60 or if you have a monitor which allows you to change the Hz I find flicking to 60Hz before you leave the terminal allows you to move away then flick back to whatever you were running at prior to that point.

I have neither of those weapons haha, just a two shot combat shotgun and a two shot laser rifle. This type of legendary weapon seems really good, basically double damage. Seems to blow the other affixes out of the water.

I've not took any resistance or toughness perks at all so maybe that is my downfall. I'll have to stop being so greedy.

This game seems inconsistent some times...

Saw a Deathclaw in the distance, sniped a head shot with a .308 rifle (55 base damage) and got 2x sneak damage. Insta-kill. Was very shocked. There was nothing else around to indicate he'd been in a battle, and from memory his health was 100%.

Some that really impressed me (maybe STALKER fans will get me here) is the headlamp lighting on NPCs. Killed a load of Raiders in an underground location and the lighting was from their headlamps looked very good as they fell to their deaths.

Does Danse have a companion quest? He's been my follower for ages but I've not had a quest from him. Nick Valentine gave me his companion quest quite quickly in comparison...

Nevermind, I understand it now. Watched the video on this guide:

http://uk.ign.com/wikis/fallout-4/How_to_Manage_a_Settlement

I didn't understand that power kind of flows through the wall/roof/floor objects. If a power pylon is near the building (and provides enough to meet the needs), all I have to do inside is fasten a conduit to the wall and route a wire from that to the light/terminal etc. I initially misunderstood, and thought that conduits simply acted like a fastening/junction point for wires. I kept getting stucking thinking I had to route cables from the lights all the way back to the generator...

I tried building a wall at the entrance to The Castle last night. Got quite frustrated. AutoCAD it is not!

Annoying huh? :p

I blocked off a broken side and the back doors (and the upper bit that's broken) with multiple fences and some turrets, just leaving the side with the armory open with a load of turrets. Mine is now quite the fortress.
