**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

Well, Hairworks aside, Gamework effects worked well on Witcher 3, so good news I think for Nvidia owners.

Steps to a railway station in Australia. The hype train is waiting at the top ;)

Haha that's awesome!

Didn't realise this was so close to being released, 10th November eh? Great!

Gameworks is very bad news as Arkham Knight is still broken 4 months later SLI GTX 980 Ti is not anywhere near fast enough for all Batman gameworks FX right now (why Nvidia are so keen to help devs implement their tech obviously!).

Just been playing that, works great on my 980. (Though not SLI and dont have any gameworks options turned on :p)

The point is that Gameworks is an affront to the games industry. It really needs to stop and shame on any developer who uses it considering all the problems it's caused.

Has it caused problems or just raging because people cant run it maxed?

Not really experienced it. :)

I've never played a Fallout game before.

Is this game going to be one of those overhyped triple A titles that ends up being very long and boring?

There was a lot of hype for Witcher 3, but I have noticed on forums a lot of people end up not enjoying it that much.

It is being overhyped, but they were very good games. Apart from New Vegas which bored me rigid.

Overhyped implies that there is some level of hype that is correct or right.

It isn't a real thing, just like overrated, that isn't a real thing either.

Corrected that for you, and personally I thought it was amazing from start to finish.

Back to Fallout 3, I'm one of the few people who didn't think it was amazing, I enjoyed it a lot to start with but got bored after a while, I had the same issue with Skyrim. However I think I'm going to buy Fallout 4 anyway!

I think I played Fallout 3 on Xbox 360, so obviously it wasn't a stellar experience.
I adored Skyrim on PC though.
I'm expecting Fallout 4 to be a better base game than Skyrim, but not have its longevity.
I can't imagine Fallout 3 PC was much better than the 360 version, ultimately.

Seriously. TW3 is one of the more widely loved games of this generation so far. There will *always* be people who dont like a game, no matter what it is.

I mean, this game will probably follow a very similar formula to FO3 and Skyrim and the like. It's just what Bethesda RPG's are. Maybe there's some changes that help keep your attention longer, but I'm guessing it will lead to burnout for you and others like you still.

TW3 appealed to people who like a good story. The combat and most of the mechanics in the game were fairly pants.

Fallout 3 was a much better game than TW3.

I think both games are great but have a lot of difference's in there own right. Witcher 3 has an amazing story and details were top notch. But I found with such a great story and side missions, once everything was done, the world felt some what dead.

While Fallout does not have a strong story or characters, I found you could transverse the world and run into something interesting or randomly fall into a mission to get a crazy weapon or whatnot more often then not.

They are completely different games with different systems in play. Bethesda make RPGs with lots of different mechanics and play styles playing off of each other. TW3 is an action game with a great story, but much more simpler gameplay and mechanics that basically boil down to talk or fight.

Just finished FO3, now very pumped for FO4!

I can see why people maybe got bored of FO3, especially at the start. It doesn't quite guide you in any particular direction well enough, and if you try to burn through the main story without doing side stuff, you can easily hit a brick wall with the difficulty. This is what happened to me the first time I played it years ago.

On the other hand, there's so much content in it which is superfluous that it may feel never-ending. This is how I started to feel after 25-30 hours in this playthrough, and ended up burning my way through the main quest after Little Lamplight.

Which of the DLC are worth playing?

All of them imo. Mothership zeta is missable but still pretty fun. Point Lookout is the most substantial and The Pitt is definitely worth playing too. Operation Anchorage is not everyone's favourite but I liked it.

Just doing the last dlc on New Vegas then I'm all Fallouted:

  • FO3 and NV completed multiple times using different character skills
  • All DLC completed

Will see how the game runs on my system and maybe it'll be the excuse I need to upgrade, the GPU at the very least.
