I am so screwed...

OS: Windows Vista™ Ultimate SP 2
MB: Asus P5K-E
Processor: Intel Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
Memory: 8190MB RAM
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6800

I think I'm going to have to upgrade some or all of the above (if Bethesda's Min spec is to be believed...).

What would you say the biggest show-stopper above will be? FYI, I'm running Elite Dangerous on the above system on virtually max settings ~ and it's smooth as silk.

I don't have the funds to build from the ground up (on a new mobo) so what would be your recommendations on the existing set up?

Because *zero* issues to date...

I can accept that my machine 'probably' isn't going to run this at full chat but I'm not (yet) accepting that it won't run at all (which is what the min spec is suggesting). I just need suggestions on what I should at least try!

Overclock cpu to at least 3ghz, and pick up a second hand radeon 290. Done.

Should be under £150 and your rocking again for a few years.

Do you think my set up won't run it at all as it stands (particularly with Vista)? I'm really strapped for cash right now so don't want to start spending randomly to address a problem which might not manifest (but you know what pre-game hype is like!).

Money being what it is, I might just fire it up with no changes and just see what happens - then start throwing money at it. It's good to see confidence that the old girl's not done yet so thanks for that.

Providing Vista is 64bit it *should* work. If not then its time to upgrade OS

I think the upgrade only applies to genuine copies of Windows 7 or 8. Vista doesn't qualify

FO3 seems to crash constantly with that resolution, while New Vegas is okay(ish) with a tweak.

I'm surprised you're able to get away with 4Gb regardless! Not sure how well it'll work with FO4, but I imagine it'd be a struggle. What OS are you running?
