**** Official Fallout 76 Thread ****

@Angilion I am not to clued up but would it be possible for you to change the Power Armour lighting in the INI files ?? Or the surrounding light maybe ??

I tried that as part of this:

I've searched online for a workaround but can't find one other than mods for previous Fallout games.

I could change the colour of the light in ini files, but that's it. There are a lot of settings for which I don't know what they do. If you can find a setting that would either allow the use of the pipboy light while in power armour or change the power armour headlamp to work the same way as the pipboy light, I would really appreciate it.

I don't have the game. Just thought I suggest it. If you have an account on Nexus, ask in their Fallout 76 part of the forum, maybe one of the wizards there knows something about it ??

How are all you finding 76 now. Put off getting this. I love fallout, level 113, and im playing nuka world which is fantastic, after you start gaining control, clearing out robots, zombies. Its the last dlc i need to complete. Nuka world is better than far harbour by miles.not sure it got the credit deserved as last dlc

I'm level 203 in FO4. Been everywhere, done all the quests, done a vast amount of scavving to build settlements. Still enjoying it.

FO76 is at best mediocre. There's the carcass of a decent Fallout game in it, but it's utterly blighted by bad implementations of bad ideas and greviously bugged on top of that. I'm finding it barely tolerable to put up with and try to work around all the bad stuff in order to be able to enjoy the good stuff. I wouldn't recommend it to you, or anyone else, except as a gamble. You might find it playable and you might not. After playing for some time, reaching L26 and exploring almost all of the Forest and Toxic Valley areas, I haven't changed my initial rating of 4/10. Maybe 5/10 because it's so unpopular that multiplayer doesn't intrude very much. Maybe 3/10 because of the power armour headlamp issue. But probably still 4/10.

How do you get by without using power armour? The difference in protection between power armour and other armour is extreme - even T45 gives better ballistic and energy resistance than the best non-power armour, plus it gives vastly more radiation resistance (non-power armour gives none without mods) and it protects against diseases and it weighs far less and it increases carrying capacity.

I found a mix of L20 modded leather and metal armour, fine in the Forest area (and that was better than the standard combat armour I could make). But when I went to the Toxic Valley area it was nowhere near enough. It's not like 3/NV/4, where combat armour was a viable alternative to power armour.

I guess because I haven't used it, I don't know any better but I've been getting by fine. I'm still only level 28 though so maybe that's why? The game throws so many meds at you that I've always got enough radx, radaway and stimpacks etc that it's not been a problem.

As for weight, I'm just very careful about what I pick up. I only pick up the things that will give me what I need to modify and repair my guns and armour and to make ammo. My base is pretty much sorted so don't need any extra for that.

I'm sure I'll eventually give PA a go, just at the moment it's worked out fine for me.

anyone fancy teaming up? currently level 19

What's your in-game name? I don't mind teaming up with others on occasion.

With great difficulty! My play style is more sniper/stealth, so i manage to get by mostly by taking out most mutants/robots etc from a distance before proceeding onto an area. There were some areas i had to get the PA out (Miners HQ) when i bumped into an assaultron who literally decimated a full health bar with two swipes of its blade.

Just gone down for at least 2 hours emergency hotfix :(

Are you up for any teaming?

Personally i'm quite enjoying it, although the game is still riddled with bugs, most you can get by with world hopping, so it's more of an inconvenience rather than a complete block. I only paid £24 for it, and i can see myself getting a good few hundred hours of gameplay out of it, so i'm happy with the purchase. I don't think i'd have stumped up the £40 or so, at the start knowing how buggy the game still is.

The aspect of the game has changed quite significantly to FO4 though...

With FO4 your storage was practically infinite (i never managed to fill a storage box up, so not sure if there's an individual box limit), but with FO76 you're very much limited to your stash box (private storage), i'm not aware of other storage options which are publicly accessible.

Base building in FO4 was also pretty unlimited, whereas FO76 this is rather capped - i would suspect this is mostly due to client/server limitations; and stopping people from building humongous bases that would probably induce quite a strain on the server and cause everyone/everything to lag.

Selling/making money was easy in FO4, there were stacks of vendors and i think they had their limits reset within 24 in-game hours, it didn't take long to rack up 10'000s of caps. In FO76 there are only 7 unique vendors, and only three of those don't require much effort to get to. They also have a 200 caps limit, and are only reset after 24 real-time hours. So it takes quite a bit of effort to build a stash of caps. It also costs caps to fast travel, and the price scales with distance (i would guess one-corner to one-corner would probably cost 50-60 caps), so there's always things using up caps.

Some other posters have mentioned that the game has lost its survivability aspect because there's so many stimpacks/radaways around to pick up, whilst this is true, you'll burn through any stockpile pretty quickly when searching through a nuclear blast site - this is a new feature where players can launch a nuke at a site, this then radiates the site, and also spawns lots of high-level enemies.

If you liked Fallout 4 then 76 is just really more Fallout 4 DLC but a massive game world & you can play co-op or with a team as well as Solo. I prefer Solo. It has bugs & some issues (base building especially) but if you just like exploring, basic combat (without proper VATS anymore) then you are bound to get a lot of gameplay time out of this (I have over 260 hours on it now & loved 4 so to me this is more of the same just 3 years late!).

Do not expect anything more than a different Fallout 4 DLC type experience you will find it ok. Game world map is vast once you unlock the higher lvls & can fully explore there are some extensive underground locations as well as the many above ground.
