Servers back up now you can also select Ultra Texture quality which requires a restart. Game runs slightly faster than before & looks a lot clear with Ultra enabled!

Can you turn off depth of field now or at least reduce it? It's yet another pointless annoyance. All the more so if you take photographs because then you can turn depth of field off so you can see what things could look like.

On the subject of pointless annoyance...power armour. The game effectively pushes you into it because it's so much better than other armour and much easier to maintain. Try finding enough ballistic fibre to maintain even a mediocre set of leather armour, for example. Even if you can (and how would you?), leather armour doesn't offer anywhere near enough protection outside of low-level areas. Combat armour is much harder to obtain than power armour and inferior in every way. It's all about power armour. So...into power armour you go by L25 at the latest. Then you have to put up with a literally sickening amount of headbob. And I do mean literally literally - it can easily trigger motion sickness. Then you have only a faded, flickering amber screen for you pipboy, which you need to use frequently. It's why I never used power armour in FO 3, NV or 4.

[..] i was too eager to play and record for my channel ha. [..]

I missed this bit before and I think there's a reply that might be important to you:

If your recording contains even a very short amount of copyrighted music from the game you will lose all advertising revenue from Youtube for that video. If that happens a few times, you might have your entire channel demonitised or possibly even closed entirely. It only takes seconds of copyrighted music.

The game contains a huge amount of copyrighted music even if you turn the radio volume to zero in your audio menu because that only mutes radio channels selected from your pipboy, not music played from the numerous radios scattered throughout the gameworld.

If you're playing on PC there is no ingame way to stop that happening other than to completely mute all audio.

So...you might want to look on Nexus for the two FO76 mods that mute the copyrighted music from ingame radio sets. I haven't tested either of them because I'm not streaming or recording.

I did see some people when I played last night, there was a bunch of player dots all over the map and I even interacted with 2, I’m only level 5 and the one okay was double figures and the 2nd was level 4, I did try to kill that one while hey wave machete at me lol, but the guns I have don’t do enough damage, so they ran off and I got to the farm bit where you can start base building.

Anyone under L5 cannot participate in PvP even if they want to. So you were just being an annoying arse to that player. Anyone over L5 can choose to participate in PvP but it requires consent from both players. If you simply attack another player, the damage you do is greatly reduced until they counter-attack.

So if you want to be an arse to other players, your best bet is to try to run in front of their bullets when they're shooting at something else. The game will count that as an attack on you, so you can then attack them and do full damage. Or, of course, you could just follow them around attacking them just to stop them playing.

The base building seems similar to 4 with maybe the odd options, but it is annoying at the same time, I couldn’t fit a door, so my base while guarded with turrets has a big opening, not stashed anything and don’t know what it means when your not playing, but the camera angles could be better to be able to tell where you can fit things, guess like others have said it needs ironing out.

If they wanted to make it better they could have just used FO4 vanilla base building with some mods. Place Everywhere, Clipboard, Settlement Transfer Blueprints, Ground...there are many mods that massively improve base building in FO4 and Bethesda could have either licensed them or reverse engineered them or even just stolen them. Instead they made building worse than it is in FO4 vanilla. That was a deliberate decision, so they don't see any "ironing out" being necessary.

If they'd used women in historically accurate roles such Russian women crewing tanks, as snipers or flying planes, no-one would have complained.

They could even have got away with a more combat-orientated reworking of women in special forces units. There were women in special forces units, but of course they didn't fight in the same way as regular soldiers precisely because they were special forces. No mass battles - the point was to be covert as much as possible. In the real world, you don't send 1 or 2 people in for a pitched battle against dozens, hundreds or thousands of people.

There's a good game to be made about that, but it would have to be a different type of game. An old school infiltration style shooter, for example. Return to Castle Wolfenstein would be a good example. You could just paste a female SOE field agent into that game as the player character and she would be an equally good fit. Or you could make it more realistic and it would be a predominantly a game about concealment and deception with direct killing being generally avoided because it attracts attention unless you can fake a convincing explanation. Or you could make it more of a strategy and organisational game because much of what they did in reality was insurgency, promoting and supporting (and in some cases leading) resistance in occupied territory and linking it to Aliied military.

I wasn’t being an arse lol, I don’t know how interaction works, I saw this person, they started waving a blade at me running around so I shot them, after a few rounds only a quarter of their health were gone before they run off and I carried on with my day..

Well others in this thread have mentioned about the base building could be improved, as for Mods, I never used mods in FO4, I couldn’t care for them, never once completed the game to need to mod to entertain myself, it might have just been the angles because I was at the back of the farm, but some things wasn’t linking up like you’d have thought, could only get the metal ladders to place and couldn’t figure out where the door is meant to connect to like it keeps saying, I just built it all quickly as I didn’t realise there was a wave mission, so good job I had lol.

As for the recording, I’m well aware of copyright, a few of my videos have it even if I add music from my folders, some I remove, others say it’s allowed, I’m not making any money so I’m not at a losing stage, it’s a hobby rather than trying to be a dedicated youtuber.

That's one illustration of something I said:

[..] Or you could make it more of a strategy and organisational game because much of what they did in reality was insurgency, promoting and supporting (and in some cases leading) resistance in occupied territory and linking it to Aliied military.

The real world example closest to (but still very far from) the overt battle-orientated combat of the game in question would probably be Nancy Wake, who led a sizable band of Maquis that did some more direct combat in the later stage of the war. Even so, the vast majority of her work was covert even after she escaped to Britain(*), trained as special forces and went back into France as an SOE field agent. She killed when it was an effective way to achieve an objective and didn't when it wasn't even when she wanted to. Frankly, she was quite scary.

* EDIT: She was in the French resistance from the invasion of France until her cover was compromised and she got out through the escape routes organised by the resistance for people needing to flee the country. She knew the Nazis wanted her dead and would pay big money for her death, but she went back in anyway.

Loving this game atm I just love exploring and looting etc. Game seems better with the patch and the Ultra textures are welcome. I can only see it getting better and better ... I hope.

DOF is I think next weeks patch along with the 21:9 native support & adjustable FOV.

As for Power Armour without spoiling it for you too much all I can say is persevere as you reach the higher lvls you get new perks which reduce the weight of power armour drastically making it effectively weightless & also alter the values for how much resource you need to maintain it (to virtually 0) along with many other great Power Armour perks ;)

Specifically you need the following Intelligence Perks:
Power Smith x 3 @ lvl 41 or higher
Power Patcher x 3 @ lvl 44 or higher
Portable Power @ lvl 49 or higher
Power User x 4 @ lvl 50 or higher

Once you have these perks Power Armour is virtually indestructible & takes ages to degrade. Its just a matter of playing the 100s of quests & missions to get there eventually. When you do it become a real pleasure to stomp around the wasteland this is turning into one of the best Fallout games ever now for me so much unlocks as you reach higher lvls making it minimal hassle even silly things like thirst & hunger start to go away when you get to the higher lvls!

Avoid all Charisma Perks unless you play a lot of Events with other players.

Finally you only have 10 mins now before the server kicks you if you inactive so do not spend too much time posting here whilst ingame like I just did as you might get kicked to the main menu!!

I've been doing the same but there is a problem you'll start to encounter from just exploring and looting - you'll break quest lines by stumbling on later parts without having done the earlier parts. That can be an issue and in some situations might be game-breaking. For example, last night I had a side quest break completely because I did parts out of order and the game couldn't handle that. What if it had been part of one of the main questlines? Maybe I've already broken a main question and just don't know it yet.

As an aside, looting is largely pointless due to the very limited storage space. You have to ignore almost everything and concentrate only on stuff you need soon and stuff that's very rare and will be useful later. I'm only really looting for lead, springs, screws, black titanium and ultracite, with occasional bouts of looting for cloth and acid to make gunpowder and plastic to make shotgun shells.

I explore locations as I encounter them. In a house in Grafton I found keys, notes and terminal entries regarding Otis Pike and his conflict with Grafton Steel. In the usual pre-War Fallout world way, Grafton Steel was killing numerous people with gratuitously unsafe working practices and killing far more by casually dumping every possible toxic substance straight into the local water supply, then killing anyone who objected after labelling them communists. Otis Pike was the brother in law of the owner of Grafton Steel and his notes and terminal entries indicated some sort of plan involving his nephew. So of course I pocketed the key and read everything. Later on, I headed to Wavy Willard Water Park to do a quest objective for the Mayor of Grafton (and mainly just to explore, as that's mainly what I do in this sort of game). I encountered a robot nanny who told me that a child had been kidnapped just before the war, followed a trail of clues and found what I expected - Otis Pike had kidnapped his nephew to use as leverage against his brother in law in an attempt to force Grafton Steel to be less evil. So I went to the post office I was pointed to, used the key I'd taken from Otis Pike's house to open his PO box...and that broke the quest, making it impossible to proceed further. What you had to do was look at the terminal to find who owned that PO box, then go to Otis Pike's house to get the key and then open the box.

I don't consider reducing the weight of power armour important because equipped power only weighs 10lbs anyway. It's far lighter than other armour.

Power Smith x 3 @ lvl 41 or higher
Power Patcher x 3 @ lvl 44 or higher
Portable Power @ lvl 49 or higher

I considered all of those and decided that I could assign my limited SPECIAL points more effectively in other areas. I will get Power Smith later on and swap it in only when I'm crafting power armour (assuming I ever find the plans needed to craft any power armour). The rest I'll skip. My build will have an int of 11, of which 5 will be permanently taken up with gunsmith so my weapons aren't made of papier mache and won't break every few dozen shots. 3 more for hacking (terminals I can't access grate on me). 3 more for Power Smith, although maybe I'll only go to 8 for int and swap power smith for hacking when I craft power armour (assuming I ever find plans for it).

But even if I did what you do and focussed solely on power armour, that would do exactly nothing to reduce the things about power armour that I don't like. Headbob, even crappier pipboy display, annoying constant stomping noise.

I do find it amusing that you can sneak in power armour, but that wouldn't offset those drawbacks even if I was playing a sneaky character (which I'm not).

Avoid all Charisma Perks unless you play a lot of Events with other players.

Doing that will increase the damage you take by 20% and reduce your AP regen by 30%. I think that's a significant drawback, so I think that it's worth putting 4 points into charisma and taking all three levels of Lone Wanderer.

I found that out by being slightly realistic - when I went AFK to make some food I left my character sleeping in his camp, which I thought was appropriate.

Not possible to break quests when you quit to the main menu next time you join a server it resets the quests which are unfinished but retains progress to date if it checkpointed before you quit. I believe so they can wait until you reach higher lvls. That's is what has happened to me several times I parked the quest until I reached the high lvl to complete it!
As for Power Armour weight when you add all the pieces for arms, legs, helmet & torso its more like 80lb so quite a saving to use those perks I mentioned ;) ONLY the power armour chassis weights 10lb when you store in your inventory the individual pieces weigh close to 100lb!!
Charisma perks are ONLY of use if you play in teams otherwise if solo you get minimal benefits apart from Lone Wanderer that is ;)
Trust me Power Armour when fully specced up is godlike :D
