***Official Final Fantasy XIV Thead***

Neo/Dany apply to eggs linkie. They are called Lionhearts. I've just been accepted on and I think there are a few other ocukers there as well. Seems like a decent enough crowd plus party play seems to be what this game is all about. Dany the app for their guild is simply telling them a little about yourself.


@ vtr. Generally servers are down for maintenance between 5-8 damn Asian/European time difference.
 
For those who haven't visited it yet, The Lodestone is the official site for XIV and will mention most of the maintenance times, although I will admit there have been a few that were very short notice (a few minutes) that didn't get into the news section. The current down time should end at 9pm UK time.

As for me I am loving the game, the only reason I am posting here is because I can't play as the servers are down. Lots to do, lots to see and a nice tail wagging in front of me :).

Come on servers, where is my game :(

Server you on bud? What class you mainly playing?

When I'm back next we'd taking the long run from limsa lominsa to grindinia to buy me a new bow :) no idea how long it will take though :p
 
On Trabia now if anyone wants to say Hello, Toshie Karven, don't be surprised if I ignore you though...Ive not used the chat in the game once yet, so more learning to be done :P
 
Has it all gone Aion? Gonna need a huge overhaul to make it accessible? I was looking forward to this since the live stream of the unveil way back. But between no tutorials and an 'anti-grinding' system, it seems this game is having a bit of an identity crisis.

I could only see myself enjoying it if I went hardcore. But I have a job/life.

Nope it been fine for the last 2 hours
 
my gripe's with game are minor, there seems to be insane lag drawing a weapon and engaging targets but i dont know if thats my connetion but its every day. Im a huge ff fan and will give the game a couple on months however players that got it for its ff rep wont sub to it i can for see, the cd are silly and if you dont like crafting you scewed lol :(
 
I actually like the relaxed nature of it tbh. yes it's confusing to start with but you learn to get used to it. But the confusion is probably due to people being used to a different interface/format (e.g WoW).

it suits my play style/times due to having to look after my 13month old boy, as he sometimes can randomly wake up during the evenings.

It's the same for every one as the servers are in Japan!

wow just checked seuol korea pingtest was getting 318ms I can imagine japan would be roughly there as well
that is seriously fail although FFXIV is a slow combat one but I can see where the annoyances are.
 
the servers are actually in Japan.. soemthing i didn't realise.. probs more fail on my behalf!. no wonder the interface is so laggy

Search ffxiv and lionhearts on google should bring up their webbie.

Servers in japan is a weird one hence the bit of lag at peak times and random maintenance times. Also find it strange there is no region specific suggested servers. Bumped into a lot of japs in the game and it's rather difficult to communicate to say the least.

Doubt we will ever see a euro server either as SE have never had a massive euro presence, best we could hope for is USA.
 
I played FFXI and i belive they were the same servers? never had the lag, ill never pay for the game to remain in its current state, so here'd hoping they clean up a few things in the next 28 days ;) but its only the second day ill give it a chance :)
 
OK there was 0 lag last night menu wise so it must be something server side, i had a good explore and got my GLD and lancer to level 10 i can feel the ff addiction just starting to tickle.....5 more min then ill go to bed.
To any one starting out levels 0-10 is your learning curve now the game is starting and im starting to enjoy it. I have a feeling 6 months time this will be a contender in the MMO market :)
 
FFXIV will have it's market share but it's no way ready to compete with the likes of WoW in it's current state. (and i don't mean server lag/instability).
To capture the mass market it needs a very big overhaul, which frankly isn't gonna happen. This will appeal to a niche market and obviously, console users but thats about it imo. We'll all still be playing it mind :p
