***Official Final Fantasy XIV Thead***

Whats the point with people like yourself?

A long time ago you decided you don't like the game and occasionaly come in with some stupid dig quoting pointless babble.

Why do you feel the need to troll? Honest question.

There are many reasons, although I repudiate your claim that this, or any other of my posts constitutes a troll. Anybody reading any of your posts may be misguided into believing this game possess a scrap of redemption above the quagmire of developer incompetence. This is not your facebook page, or your CV; assuming your not on the books for SE. You cannot cherry pick the good and disregard the bad. This is not the Civ V thread, for instance, where some are enjoying the game while other die hards are unhappy with the AI. This is FFXIV online, a game many looked forward to and anticipated and few can claim has delivered.

The conscious consumer is aware of the impact his decisions have on the market place and beyond. The conscious consumer 'scouts' a product for his peers and endorses where endorsement is due. By giving your money to this polished turd, you are sending a message to customers and developers alike that such action is acceptable, pragmatical and commercially viable.

I for one will not support such a mode of transaction

A lot of us are playing trabia though there is no ocuk linkshell. Though i would start one if there was enough interest :)

i just bought myself a few new prices of armour look well good now. One of the most impressive things I've noticed so far is that apart from when you first start no two charcters look the same. There is massive amounts of diversity and cool looking bits and Peices of gear even at the lower levels.

I didnt start on trabia but would roll a new class there if you start a linkshell ?

Not sure if this has been posted already but a video review is up with some of the lowest scores I have ever seen LOL. I am glad I cancelled my pre order on time.

Well after watching that review I have no idea how anyone can be defending the game as much as they are. The amount of flaws that seem to be present in the game have no place in a MMO released in 2010.

Low standards? Delusion? Fanboy-ism? Not played many MMOs to compare it with? Finding an excuse for the waste of money spent?

That or they do really like it.

that'll be the one.

I just find the reviews amusing now, because it isn't a wow clone (which whether we like it or not now seems to be the mmo standard template) people go mental bashing it.

It needs some work especially on the interface but apart from that I can honestly say it's the most fun I've ever had on an mmo apart from old school wow, and it's even getting close to that which is saying a lot for me.

10 Reasons to Avoid FFXIV

Here's an article outlining the main issues with this game.

http://consolepress.com/main/2010/10/09/10-reasons-to-avoid-ffxiv/

This surprised me as it managed to stand out amongst the awfulness, I bet quite a few people who are wondering about buying the game don't know about this.

The $10 monthly fee only grants you access to the game. If you want an actual character slot, that’s an additional $3 a month per slot.
My favourite quote from another forum.

The market ward's name should be changed to Hell.

I am sorry, but i cannot let such comments pass by uncontested. You are deluded beyond belief. Your argument would only be valid if this game was so revolutionary, so unexpected, so different from WoW it stood up quite straight on its own two feet. This isnt a question of likes or dislikes, but rather your comments have no basis in reality whatsoever.

The only difference between this game and WoW is this games abysmal implementation. It IS the WoW clone you are claiming it not to be.

Guild Wars was revolutionary because it did away with a subscription and stupid open ended level cap.
Planetside was revolution because it was a totally different perspective on MMO
SWG was revolutionary because of its class system, world and social aspects

How is this revolutionary?

The reviews are really silly 'It doesn't have an auction house'

Lots, and lots and lots of MMOs dont have an auction house, Runescape got along fine without one for years, yes the system they have in place needs some tweaking, but I really like it instead of an Auction House, yes tweaks are needed but they are just tweaks.

The issue with this industry is people slate a game when it's a wow clone, and slate it when it isn't. People don't know what they want.

The thing is on Runescape you could use the forums to arrange a trade or go to one of the areas where everyone advertised what they were selling. So it isn't so much that the game doesn't have an auction house, more the fact that it's like walking into a shoe shop that has two hundred pairs of shoes all in brown cardboard boxes with no displays.
