***Official Final Fantasy XIV Thead***

I love this thread, ill not bang on about my feelings as there clear by now but people have a point, the game may turn out fantastic given the time and some people might actully like playing it in its current fair enough....but this breath of fresh air crap its really good, really give your head and shake and come see me as i have left handed hammer and a tin of tartan paint to sell you! Why are you defeding it when it just so so poor we got shafted for £22 get over it :)

Beats me why you have to make your opinion about how unfinished this game is all the time. You've made your point, now it's time to move on. Go play something else and be happy.

Mean while I'm going to have another breath of that fresh air I'm playing.

So did you want to buy the hammer or not ? :p

Hopefully people who are wondering whether or not to buy this will read actual professional opinions about the game, like IGN and Gamespot, and not a bunch of fanboys opinions.

Wait for either DC Universe or the Old Rebublic is the safe bet, there are tons of quality games to keep you occupied till then, with the hottest time of the year(for games) coming up.

Use your brain.

I'm finding it all quite useful to be honest. I absolutely loved the feel of FF XI, but just couldn't progress in it without a major commitment and a load of friends online all the time, so I'm extremely interested to hear how this one is shaping up.

Company of Heroes: ****, Starcraft 2: Good
FFXIV: (Currently) ****, WoW: Good

Lol.. true, you could do that, but i mean.. their at total opposite ends of their respective genre :)

some people like the game regardless, Its probably more to their taste than any others out there at the moment.. which is fine?
Some people prefer not to convey their opinions properly, but to just force them upon people. which is how slanging matches like the latter of this thread happens ^^

Although i do hold very high hopes for Old Republic! can. not. wait! :)

From what i've played so far, i'd say it caters quite well for the more casual gamer, you don't have to spend 4 hours a night on it to get a lot out of it. I play it for a few hours every couple of days, inbetween other games and normal stuff i do.
I'm favour soloing most things or teaming up with my housemate who plays too. quite handy for me really! very rarely have i been in a party with more than 2 people. Its not needed really, although it can be quite fun when it does happen.

What level you at now Indie?

Still working away is making it a bugger for me to progress at even a half decent rate. :(

@ everyone as Indie said can we. Stop the pointless slanging in thethread now? If you don't like the game make your point and move on, if you like it let's stop arguing back everytime and let's just talk about ingame elements.

The thread is now cluttered with the back and forth of what will be an endless debate of both sides unwilling to budge. Let's just live and let live and then let this thread become a thread about the game.

It's rather tedious.

What level are you though Newts? XI led you along quite nicely till about level 15, then very abruptly whipped the carpet out from under you. It was a bit of a shock to suddenly find that any mob was likely to kill you in a one on one fight.

Well said No1newts

There are reviews as mentioned in this thread popping up on the net now, so I'm sure that people can make an informed choice from reading them. About whether to buy this or not.

Yeah there are a fair chunk of reviews here that are pretty un-bias. i know the info i've put up about the game is looking at it from both sides of the fence.
I can understand a lot of peoples frustration with the game, because regardless, theres some daft stuff that SE have put into it.... But on the other hand, its got its extreamly good aspects too :)

Here's me thinking I was talking about the game...

There will be a lot of people looking at this thread deciding whether or not to buy this thing, so forget about your happy clappy syndicate, both sides of this fantasy story should be told.

Like the chap earlier, who is thinking of buying the game, he actually liked reading both sides of the argument before parting with his hard earned cash. Why don't the gang playing this thing create a link in game and have a wonderful adventure while the rest of us weigh up the pros and cons, and tell it how it is.

Just look at my post on the previous page ^^

So then now we're back talking about the gameplay, has anyone experienced any other content than 'go here, kill these rather small boring things, return'?

Personally thats all i've had.. the Disciple Of The Land leves apparently you need to collect things.. but other than that, not yet! I've not seen what the 20+ leves are like yet though.

I think at level 15 you get the next part of your "storyline" quest. But i havn't picked it up yet as i've been a bit busy with crafting :)

I'm 12 rauder 13 phys. I'm just sort of happily trotting along so not that fussed I'm lower but would be nice to get away from skull rock :)

back tonight and should have enough to buy my new axe :D really, really can't wait (sad I know :D) not too sure if there will be a sharp difficulty upsurge, soon see i guess :)

Can you explain this to me?

It seems your just an attention seeker who likes to smile.

It's funny how defensive the people who are playing this thing get, it's remarkable behaviour.

I just find it weird that if you ignored it how can you define it as tripe?
I just gave my opinion of the game, parts I find good and bad. You said yourself people find it useful to know both aspects. Its not defensive behaviour at all. Game has flaws, If you'd of read the tripe you would have known this.

and damn right i like smiling! who doesn't!? :)

I managed to get a crafting recipe as a quest reward, the items needed to create the item came up as text in the chat window, after a burst of "how do i do..." in the chat window, the recipe was gone forever, as there isn't a recipe book.

Fear not, play the game in windowed mode(otherwise it will crash) and switch to your browser and google for the recipe, switch back and fannies your aunty.
