World class or just very good?

I also think I may sell Rooney. He's about to ask for a new contract and he will be asking wages above what I'm prepared to pay.

Are there any other decent forwards that I could swap Rooney for? I could do with getting 2 improving youngsters for what money I get for Rooney. Already sold Hernandez to Real Madrid so would be a bit short of options without Rooney.

Well, with those 3 defenders (and Subotic and Barta [because Smalling used to play RB)] they won 2 consecutive Champions League, one under Bielsa and one under me. They become some of the best CBs in the game. Zouma (St. Etienne becomes a BEAST!

Hernandez is quality, why did you sell him? He used to score a lot for me in a poacher role.

Rooney was already sold when I went to United. If you want young and good strikers, check out Abel Hernandez, Carlos Fierro, Erick Torres, Manolo Gabbiadini, Erik Lamela

I left Boca, ax expected, and its now Summer. There are literally no decent jobs in the 3 countries I want to join to continue the Pentagon challenge (South Africa, USA and Mexico)

Inter have sacked their manager, and I really feel up to the challenge.

They finished a disappointing 12th in the league, and they have offered 14M transfer budget and over 100k/w extra wages.

Although this doesn't help the Pentagon Challenge, I feel like a challenge. I might sign a 1/2 year contract, and just quit if a decent job turns up.

I'm checking the Job Security, and there is only LA Galaxy that is insecure and interests me. If they keep their manager, I'm going to Italy.

EDIT: Didn't go to Inter, as they want to offer me a 5 year contract. I want a 1/2 year.

And now, LA Galaxy job security is stable :(

Anyone here get the april fools? My brother just asked me to look at his game, got a nice message from his board saying they are injecting a nice windfall of 500million to be used on a new stadium and players. He accepted and had another message saying april fools!

My April fools joke is that FM2013 won't open AGAIN!!! Fed up of having to uninstall steam and with it all of my other games just to play!

Yeah, heard about that. Never got it.

I missed out on Zouma on a free, he rejected myself (Monaco - top 6 Ligue 1/Champs League), Barcelona, Bayern and a few others for Valencia.

Did manage to get Niang, Fabbrini and Bittencourt in frees instead, but was annoying.

Good free transfers you got there. Should do well.

Zouma is a beast.

Yeah, it's a late season anyway, but still great frees. Managed to get quite a few over the seasons.

I've got David Luiz (had Luiz/Vidic last season) and a couple of regens for the second spot. Got some bloody good regens in my squad.

Best frees;

2012/13 - Daniel Carvalho
2013/14 - Beckham, Arshavin, Tymoshuck, Afellay
2014/15 - Pablo Aimar, Ashley Cole, Eduardo
2015/16 - Tom Ince (still first choice AML), Mauricio Isla, Jozy Altidore, Nemanja Vidic, Andre Pierre- Gignac
2016/17 - Xabi Alonso, Josh McEachran
2017/18 - Niang, Bittencourt, Fabbrini

Definitely rely on a few key positions in terms of frees. Some are usually temporary for a season and a bit, but Tom Ince I still have, I only just got around to selling Isla as I have better regens so I accepted £8.5m. Altidore (loan), Gignac (free), Alonso (free), McEachran (loan) have all since left though.

My best players that aren't regens (I like to keep my team pretty young :p) have included; Alphonse Areola (2014 - £5.75m), David Luiz (2015 - £6m), Kevin Gameiro (2014 - £875k) and Andrea Poli (2013 - £10m).

I've bought/sold a hell of a lot of players though, I had pretty much all of Barcelona's B team at one point but have since tried to get some home grown players into the squad. I had just two french players in 2013 but have now got 10 in a squad of 24, but they are all under 22 except Areola and Gameiro, so that should last a while as they are all 4*+ potentials. Already got quite a few other french prospects lined up but they are a bit young for a spot yet.

Yeah /\ I'm facing similar issues now - I am trying to develop two midfielders. Both 19 years old and both look to have some serious potential. Problem is they aren't ready for full-time first team action and I have to rotate them regularly to keep them happy. In fact, one of them has just asked for a transfer, so he can sod off :D

It's a shame though, it's incredibly hard work finding them and then developing them whilst keeping them happy. Best bet is to keep a smallish squad and hope to god you don't suffer injuries. It's a big risk though. I haven't really found the fine line yet.

I'm using a small database on my laptop (if I recall) and I've noticed that a lot of my players are German nationals. Not that there is a problem with that of course, as they are good players. But a lot of the players in my shortlist are German too and I don't understand why.

There is a distinct lack of other nationalities. I've employed 20/20 scouts with some decent coverage of other nations, thinking this will help find talent elsewhere. But it's really slow or it doesn't exist. It's like America - there are no current players from anywhere in the US which I find a bit strange. It's like China and the Far East doesn't exist either, which is very strange. Is this to do with the database?

I guess the China & USA thing is, yeah. You should be able to find more closer to home though.

I've got three world class Egyptian players in my first team this year, all bought fairly cheap (compared to their ability). I don't think I've ever signed an Egyptian... ever. And I've played every CM/FM since CM1.

I guess you just get pockets of talent every now and then.

Yes this is true. I've just checked my shortlist and I've got 4 Italians listed now who werent there before. But there is a distinct lack of minors if you ask me. Nobody from Eastern Europe - hardly anyone as far as I can tell from Russia, or the Russian satellites. If I was to to re-add these nations to my leagues would talent begin to appear again I wonder? It's a mystery to me. I've removed a lot of leagues latterly because it was slowing my game down.

It is to do with your database size, and leagues loaded. I presume you are playing in Germany?

Add a few leagues to your game, but have them as non playable leagues when you add them, view only.

This used to give you a more diverse band of new gen players to look over, hopefully it will work for you too.

The thing is though, I'm in League 2, so these players are literally the best players statistically in the league, so they're my full time :p

No I am playing as Huddersfield in the Premier League. 6 of my star first team are German lol.. It's hell when they ALL get picked for international duties..

How do you add them as View only? I have no option for that when I add leagues.

I love the January window, the players you can agree to sign are always pretty awesome. End up over paying on wages, but the money saved makes that a lot better. Was already £300k under my budget so it'll be good next season - have to always shift a few though :p

I need some help from people with lower league experience.

I am managing Sundowns, and I am aiming to win the Africa Champions League. i joined in January, and I managed to finish 2nd, from 6th.

2 of my best players (obviously) want to leave to a bigger team. Their contract expires in 1 year, but I am reluctant to sell because, as I said, they are my best players.

Here is one of them. I offered him to clubs because he is unhappy, and they offered me 1.5M

AndyMatomane_OverviewAttributes_zps4fa23120.png

Needless to say, 1.5M for a team that has 2M transfer budget maximum is a lot. But once again, he is my best player. Apart from that, there are no half decent players to replace him.

We can only register 5 non-South African players, and I have 4 atm (with a 5th 5* potential guy coming in Jan).

Much prefer 1.5M than leaving him on a free, but I might take the chance to keep him and hope he signs a new contract.

EDIT: SOLD!! Didn't want to lose him on a free. Decided to cut my losses and take the 1.5M.

My reserve team midfield and attack are crap, but I am really struggling to find decent S.A. players.
