***** Official Football Manager 13 Thread *****

Ahhh, yeah I knew about the favoured personal thing, had an obsession in FM 12 of getting everyone together at a youth level (costing me so much) and trying to win the u18 league and cup every year...

Got hopeful the personality thing could be like breeding in pokemon where you could almost teach people to be a leader. Sounds like a good way to improve players mental attributes quickly though.

^^ Would pay loads for a coke and hooker filled mini game with the regen kids faces going  at 17 on the team bonding exercise, could even have a clay pigeon shooting mini game...

Not only the fee, they also paid out £115k in wages!! Outrageous

You know you've played the save for too long when the games regens have had long and successful careers and are now embarking on careers as staff :( haha

Haha! I love it when regen players become staff, much better than over the top regen managers come to the show (and be really unreasonable in the transfer market). At least the game have west hams management sorted 115k a week is a semsible champ wage :D

Hahaha! :D I would like them to expand on the kid been seen late night in bars thing, so you can start by condoning the behaviour but passionately being impressed with the legs on woman he was with, or be angry at how unprofessional he has been going to such a down market gay club and explain to the press how more mature team mates should show him the classy side of the gay scene...

 I have yet to find a proper wonderkid yet this time round :(

Finished my 3rd season in the prem! :D

Was in the title hunt till I got bunged up with fixtures end of january as well, all down to the capital one cup getting in the way (lost horribly against Spurs in that as well). Got nocked out the Europa league by Liverpool as well in the 2nd knockout round sadly, caused more shouting at players for that as Liverpool were rubbish, we just didn't try away at all.

This season I have had to knock back a £19.5m bid for a DM I bought for £3.5m the year before (english and a beast) need him for champions league though! :D

Have to find a few more prospects though as my squad is down to about 20 odd players...

Afraid to say ur games bugged... Mancity not winning the title or being runner up.... it just doesnt happen! hehe

HA! :p

It's summer 2020 and United have won the title 3 times in a row, then city did 3 times, then Chelsea and back to United.

Random extra feature that I didn't know about, players seem to be more self aware about the asking prices you set for them, couple of guys seem very upset when I ask for sky high money for them...

some advice please folks

really struggling in my partick Thistle save, constantly getting messages that i'm being overrun in midfield despite playing 4 across the middle 2 MC and a ML and MR
ML is a winger attacking and MR is a wide midfielder playing on automatic

any suggestions for dominating the midfield a bit more other than going 5 across the middle, playing a simple 4 4 2 2 wing backs 2 centre defs a Trequistra and a DLF up front

Push your defensive line up?

That or bring your midfielders into DM positions and drop one of your strikers back to a more AM sort of place.

Over run in midfield represents your team hasn't quite got the right roles for the players and what they want to do there, so the opposition can just pass it about. You need someone who can tackle and move with the ball there really as well as someone who can pass a lot. In this game it favours a formation with 2 tacklers, so ball winners, box to boxers or deep lying playmakers all to fill that sort of role (other options do work but I favour the more specific roles for the middle of the pitch).

Also maybe try upping the fluidity a bit more as that encourages your players to help out in other phases of play than the ones they are initially responsible for. Wouldn't go nuts with that as even as a premier league team it's hard to get players that can cope with it over 90 mins every game.

I stuck this on my macbook and the last 3 days have been a whirlwind. First season with St Mirren, won the league cup (hopefully a good open as we are in the final next month for real), finished 4th in the league and quarter finals of the league cup.

Ive been totally sucked in like I havent for years, probably since CM3 days, Ive been thinking about my team, the young guys coming through, obsessed, brilliant!

Good! :p

It's what macbooks are for...

are you having any trouble with memory usage?

every few days i get a message saying insufficient memory to allocate and i have to restart.

i upgraded to 8gb specifically for this!

Have you tried verifying the game cache and your hard drive permissions?

I have been running it on mac without any real problems, though it does slow down like something stupidly slow around the transfer windows.

I won the final of the Asian Champions League. Wanted to leave, but I could have played the Club World Championship, so I did.

The Korean government took 3 of my best player...FOR MILITARY DUTY!!! WTF!!

Decided I wouldn't take it seriously and I lost 6-3 lol. They had 2 pens too.

Look who offered me a job :D:D

NikiMicallef_NewsInbox-2-3_zpsc14d5f55.png

I declined though

Haha! It's a sign they love you so much...

Didn't know the game actually put players out on military duty! I've seen it as a status for South Korean players (and Israeli players are the other main nation to do it)

I know this has probably been asked a million times and answered already but could anyone point me in the right direction for some face packs and logos?

Every one I find any you have to log into their sites to download :/

Cheers me dears.

Because I am nice I've found the quotes for you :) (though I am using last years logo pack as a like the metallic look)

I got a kit pack, logo pack and a MASSIVE face pack that weighs in at about 5Gb...

Just found a site called Sortitoutsi for badges, kits etc

Seem to have a decent range http://sortitoutsi.net/downloads/category/86/football-manager-2013-graphics

I'm also wondering this, my tactics seem to work fine then suddenly start doing terrible mid season.

do teams "work out" your tactics after a while?

are you ment to change tactics every season or so?

i was doing great then all of a sudden lost loads in a row.

ive only just pulled the team out of the slump and am getting points again.

They sort of do, in 12 it was quite funny to watch as 2 standard formations (basically 4-3-3 and 4-1-2-1-2) are very powerful in this with the right players (as you can get everyone to cover each other if they make mistakes) but the computer tries to specifically target certain ares on the basis of what should be strong against your formation. Eventually it just descended into copying the human players though :D (schooling Klopp on tactics was funny).

Anyway in this one its much harder to make the formation impenetrable (as the fluid function takes a lot more time to become effective for your players and relies on more concentration stats per individual player) as well as the computer has become more adept at scouting your team and targeting certain things. For me they currently go steaming in on my RB a lot as he's prone to being wound up and sent off.

You're not meant to change tactics every season, it hardly works mixing it up every game (confuses your own players a lot) but the having 3 formations trained up is the key thing as you need to make 3 different formations that are effective in different areas depending on how the game works. For example if you are having no luck down the wings because the ai have worked out what to do against them then its really good to go for a tight abandon all width formation and flood the midfield.

So yeah they do work it out, but more often then not it is from continuity, so a club that has had one manager for ages (and backroom staff) gets more competent at setting the team up for specific things. If they are chopping and changing regularly then its not such a worry...

WOOOOOO!!!!! BEST FEELING EVER!!!! Second to last game and I had Liverpool, sat 1 point from safety, I knew if I won they would go down into Championship...2-1 I ran around the house screaming and crying, I dumped Liverpool out of the Prem!! They have gone down with Wigan and Sunderland whilst I secured 6th spot in the table. not bad for first season with Saints.

Please post a picture of the league table?! :D

Best relegation I have in my game currently is Sunderland down to L1! There's a chance they'll drop to L2...

What bottom 2? The bottom pictures? Results? Table?

Who were your favourites then?

Bottom two teams that are relegated :p Sunderland on so few points and Liverpool relegated are hilarious!

You sold lallana, Lambert, Guly and a few others who are good in real life! (I'm a season ticket holder for saints so usually I give them a go but this season it looks less fun)

^^ image for the first guy is the same as the 3rd... :p

 Nem for £17.5M...then again, my 3rd Season with Swansea I told Athletic Madrid no when they offered £40M for him...I gave Nem a new contract with a £120M buyout clause and set his transfer asking price to £100M and never got another offer :D

I think they might have noticed how stupidly cheap he was (and a bit of a cheat transfer) and changed his buy out clause... Hopefully the same as getting Sam into the championship (the guy from a german team who's just pace!)

I don't know Sam. Kweuke was broken also, £3.2M for an EPIC striker, just perfect for a 4-2-3-1 formation, he's at Forest on my...Forest save...

Nem is excellent on my Saints save, playing him down the right wing with Wallace at RB (Team-mate from Flumenise or where-ever it is) great partner-ship. Although past 2 games Wallace has made BIG mistakes, thankfully my team are epic and we still won, but he's been dropped from 1st team and Martin Kelly has taken his spot...for now...

Luke Shaw has been loaned out to Sunderland along with Ward-Prowse.

Now, I'm wondering if this patch fixed the Man U reserve guys being far too good (Wootton, Tunnicliffe and Lingard) for around £400K each they would take the Championship by storm. I got Wootton for £200K ish from Crewe in winter in my 1st Season, now in the prem and he worth something insane like £10M...

Sidney Sam at Leverkusen was who I meant, friend got him to Wolves in the champ, 10 games in he had 18 goals and an average rating of 8.8, he got bored as it was too easy.

Kweuke is unbelievable, should have had an 8m release clause at least to make that more sensible... (or should;t have been so good).

Wouldn't be surprised if they toned down a few of the United graduates, the left back kid in there ended up in my Bishops Stortford team for a few years and surprised me he was so good...

Thought I'd give my save another bash after getting a little disinterested in it recently.

First game away at Barca in the 1st knockout round of the champions league..

:D
