That's a great result Pingwing. Can we see some of your players attributes now? Any that have really grown recently? I'm trying to work out how best to grow my team - although I have a decent transfer budget I can't waste money on younglings so I have to go middle of the road. I've got some damn fine players in my squad now but it has taken years to nurture them. I'm trying to find the best way to progress with this. Do I get one or two fine future prospects and send them out on loans?

Yeah sure! Have loads of great players, here are the few from about 2 in game years ago along with a few that I really like (though not everyone has developed yet)

Firstly record signing, had to shell out 22m for him after he rejected me the year before (big wage though got my man).

International team mate I bought the season before, the pair are great! Waiting for them to become best mates soon but they have 10/15 years of good games to go!

Best RB in the game! Paid 8m, worth 5 times that...

Bought for 7.5m off Newcastle who never played him, everyone wants him now!

Best English player in the game, £3.5m spent, turned down a £19.5m bid from united last season!! :D He's TOO GOOD.

Other best English player that everyone will fight for next summer, he's become amazing for the £8m I spent.

This guy has turned into a BEAST! His stats have gone nuts and he's scoring/creating chances for fun this season! Lone striker he plays everyone on or scores, greatest player in the game.

Paul has come up with us since L1, he's very good, was captain but had to change it to someone else as he was a bit young. He doesn't mind being rotation now and has come on pretty well.

This keeper annoys me! Trained in club and well liked, but just drops the ball everywhere! No.2 choice despite how good he should really be for now.

He's become my replacement keeper, also trained in club thankfully and is generally better but still not quite ready.

Next big CB prospect really, cost a million, will be trained in club and potential to be best CB in the world according to all my scouts and coaches in the club!

There's the best selection, most are at least 4 star potential and some are 5 :D

Good young team coming along very well so far.

Out the champions league to Man united in the quarter finals :(

Will come back next year with an extra player to do a lot better!

Malt Dias will tear the league up!

The other two you wont really make money on sadly...

The RB looks good, not perfect, but quick enough to make up for most his mistakes, low aggression and reasonable concentration are key to at least get him to stay on the pitch for 90 mins!

Well well well! Big news! Been offered the Arsenal job!!! :D need 2 more seasons at Bishops Stortford to win anything really, only have the premier league left to play for and it's really tight this season... Going make an alternative universe save for Arsenal and everything going mad!

^^ That AMC looks decent!

:D YEP!!!

Lost against United in the second last game and thought it was all over, had to beat Everton on the last day and hope Chelsea won which impressively they did!!! :D

Need to perform better in the champions league next year, putting Barcelona out then not beating United was poor this year.

Also Arsenal can shove their job offer, had a bash at their team as an alternate universe save last night and if anyone reads DM's rants in the football stadium his worst fears have been realised in the Arsenal team on my save. Far too many drossy players earning 100k plus a week with no value or ambition. Almost impossible to do a decent clear out and rebuild on it...

Blackburn have AVB at the helm and based their entire team around Will Hughes (that kids at Derby who's massively FM rated) and have made some silly big money transfers from youth.

Newcastle are the other big surprise as their first team is very hit and miss!

Arsenal are a calamity! Managed to let AOC go on a free to Barcelona, so much failure in just one team...

any tips on how to scout, i search through players and never really find much better than i have :(.

I get into weird habits after a few seasons where I trawl through teams with cat 1 academies (used to be just ones who were successful in u18's league but the cat status is simpler to spot now) and just scout every kid in there. Eventually my side will end up in a position to buy them more often then not and bam get a 20 year old home grown usually who I chuck in the first team when the ai keeps loaning out.

For instant first team players I search by national teams quite a bit, so going to any country in the world and seeing which regens they have in their first team and u21/19/18 is a great way of finding prospects (some places like brazil or Argentina they are almost always quality, places like Sweden or Denmark you'll find one or two who are pretty good for a specific purpose and so on).

I also hire loads of scouts with high adaptability/good local knowledge of a far away place to find more players (same with leaving a scout to do the job ages helps too).

Finally I have plenty of leagues active and if I am bored/in need of players I have a look at who's doing well and why....

Does anyone else quit their game and start again when the regen players start appearing?

I prefer to play with the real life players.

Nope I don't get into it till the regen guys start appearing, I don't get as immersed if there are real people looking back at me and I don't get attached to them in the same way as I do for the regen guys...

cheers ping, i'm still in 2014/15 so will have to start looking around, any idea how long before regens usually kick in ?

Regens start appearing through out the first season! By 2014/15 you should be able to come across a couple of the first "next stars" ;)

Villa and Middlesborough turn up quite a few decent players and tend not to be in the best position to hang on to them usually...

Well the Bishops Stortford have gone too far save has gone too far and I have lost inspiration for a few weeks to sort out everyones contract properly. (sad reason to stop playing really)

Instead I have a save just before winning the league where I walk into the Arsenal job and though it would be fun to walk out after 2 weeks and then wait for Saints to become free! So I now have a future save where Saints are suck like FM12 in the champ and need someone to make them amazing... :D sort of a fun challenge before I turn Bishops Stortford into a world force!

I feel your pain /\ :D Sort of! I just got offered the job at Manchester City! But I turned them down - they wanted to title challenge, and they were in 5th spot, 18 points off the lead, with only 4 months till end of season. No chance!

I've run into a bit of a problem - I am high-flying now, and have a transfer budget of £44 million. lol.. But I can't spend it! Everyone who I want to bid for wants stupid money, and I can't afford it! I don't know what to do. I need to strengthen my squad, but I can't afford to waste it on younglings as my club does not really have the infrastructure to develop them. I need some maturity in the team. But £65 million for a single player wtf?

Yeah that's what happened to me, 10 years in and transfer prices have gone nuts, there's no way to feasibly buy good players at the right prices without having to buy up silly amounts of kids or be one of the massive teams.

Just can't bring my self to go through the mega wage inflation game and get people on silly 70k a week wages.... (so mucking about with my dream team is more fun)

anyone have any tips for director of football? My experience so far in lower leagues is that they are a waste of wage budget. I like to take control of everything but thus far he's done nothing at all to shift players I can't sell myself.

Sack him and don't appoint another, you can get the chairman to do the touting players thing and everything else is improved by a good head of youth...

I'm 2024 now. Lots of regens, some good ones too but I can't afford the best of them. I am one of the 'massive' teams now, the 10th richest in the world. But transfer inflation is a massive problem - is this realistic? Is it a bug? Some players salaries are like £170k per week. I don't know if this is for real, I don't follow the game much. I must admit, it's only what I would consider the best players whose salaries are over inflated but even if I approach a mediocre player they want a ridiculous wage for their ability. Is it just because I've become one of the mega clubs? They think they can ask whatever they want.

I think I'm going to have to invest in the future of the club and buy some young guns. I think it's ridiculous to spend £60 million on a single player when I could buy half a dozen for the same amount. It will just take my club a serious amount of time to develop them :(

The wage inflation is real, once you are in the premier league for a while it can get monstrously out of hand with silly wages.

The transfer fee thing also reflects the state of modern football but is more like a bug that some players get an over inflated sense of worth so the "priced me out of a move" complaint isn't registered with foreign teams as much, hence why you end up having to pay 60m for someone...

Anyone got any lower league gems to share playing as Bishop's Stortford in Blue Square North i fancy a big challenge managed to come mid table first season.

So hard to keep players with a zero budget its fun though i am enjoying the challenge.

Dale Gomez (I something like that) a 24 year old Argentinian striker who's quick, good finishing and good passing, terrible composure though so never let him take penalties.

Bishop's Stortford have one excellent CB and keeper (on loan) at the start so you are sort of given a good start for the rest of the game :)

Pre update I got Mathew Patterson in for 5k after a good loan spell from Burton, not sure if he'll come back again though but he's L2 quality really.

Look what I got :D:D:D

Bought last november, its really interesting!

Not impressed by Dali Gomez coming to the end of the season been terrible overlooked by Kaine Sheppard who got on loan.

In fairness he was amazing in the Beta and I ended up having him as an impact sub in the main game I think.

Carl Sheppard is one to look out for when he gets released from Reading! Patterson as well is always worth a look...

Anyone had Ryan McLaughlin - RB from Liverpool before. How does he turn out?

I picked him up on Loan with Harrogate in my 6th season and he's been brilliant for me, great stats. Liverpool don't want him so I've agreed a 30k deal for him at the end of the season. Seems like a bargain to me.

For me (season 10 I think) he ends up as a champ RB, not amazing but not bad.

Malt, just shout at them! And do some defending training as a team for a month or so...

Just had an annoying game.
Dominated it, hit the post 'n crossbar 'n that, they had a single shot and scored.
I lost 1-0.

Happens to me a lot, mainly when I don't do as much training in the weeks before hand, long bursts of attacking movement and tactics set up in the weeks before seemed to sort of fix it (though I still get a lot of chances that aren't put away)

Exploit the flanks, get the ball forward combo gets the players to hit it on the break and cross it back in. Add work the ball into the box tried to get them to put the cross in when someone good has a chance of being there.

It depends partly on debt and where the money is coming from, ie bank loans. So arsenal in the future usually have a 60k stadium, massive investment from the board and don't have to pay out dividends to shareholders....

On my 2 saves saints are broken because they have so many debts to pay, making prem survival impossible as I got not money (and stopped playing that one). At bishops stortford I have made it up the leagues with minimal debt so I still get some money but it takes a while of success before you get loads (3 champions league wins as burton in the last one to get the mega bucks). So until then you have to ride out small budgets on high potential players really...

Least you got a decent stadium, I've won the league with a 16004 seater stadium and have 11k of season ticket holders this year :( artificial limits in the game mean I need another 12 seasons before I can get a new one/expansion!

Right I am over my brief flirt with being Saints, got them to the prem in one decent week of gaming, finished second 1 point of Reading (just like last season in real life sadly), got to the perm and am in so much debt I can't buy any one, let alone stay up in the first place (needs a sugar daddy to come in and wipe out the debt along with a massive massive clear out of the highly paid players and I don't care enough yet).

Back to Bishops Stortford! Had a little inspiration after winning the league, got everyone I wanted to stay on fairly reasonable contracts (one or two are on silly ones but they are worth big bucks in the next 2 years) and have some QUALITY prospects ready too, an english striker with flair 20 being my greatest find! (who in england in real life as anything close to flair 10 is hilarious).

Aim this season is to get further in the champions league and win the league again, had to tell Suprs to get lost as the wanted me for the second time... Need to make Bishops Stortford a force before I leave for MLS/Saints/somewhere interesting (I want to get back to the Belgium 3rd division one day as that is the most hilarious in game league!)

For further comedy its 2021, Mancini has finally left city (3 titles and a few fa cup wins set out what they will be in real life...) and I have been offered the city job this season! Still don't want to leave but a comedy alt universe save is worth while because they have a better squad (and budget) than Spurs :)
