Can't you just get free saved game editors so you don't need to pay for more funds?

I wondered this- what's to stop people 'cheating' the old fashioned way, either using an editor, or taking over another club and making them buy I dunno, Nicklas Bendtner for like £40mil...

Also, even if 'unlockables' were in the main game, which it seems they're not, you don't have to use them... It's not pay to win if you can play the game as normal and as intended if you so wish!!

It's not pay to win even if you do use them, it's playing the game as you want. You have the option to use it, you have the option not to, nothing wrong with having more choice.

Pay to win generally refers to free 2 play games that offer the illusion of being free, when the reality is you don't have much choice but to pay for the best gear since everyone else has. We're talking about a single player game here, totally different.

I don't see how it matters to anyone that people now have the option to 'cheat' in their single player game, it should make literally zero difference. If they ever put more desirable features behind a DLC barrier, then it becomes another argument. As it stands right now most won't be too bothered about what's being offered, and the prices aren't exactly astronomical for anyone that does want them.

Got a Swansea game at the moment. Won the FA Cup and League Cup first season qualifying for Europa League despite finishing 10th in the League. Klasnic was a class signing for free and Shechter was great on loan, Bressan too. Signed Tom Cairney for £2.2m that January window along with Adam Matthews for £4.2m

Board spent £17m on 10k stadium expansion and training and youth facilities. Ended up getting a bid of £18m from Man City for Sinclair too :D Managed to get bargains in Doumbia for £10m and Javier Hernandez for £7.75m. I got Menez on loan for £1.1m too. Ended up buying a couple of dutch kids, an Argentine winger coming in two years. I was even surprised they wanted to sign, despite the low price I paid. So far, I'm past the second January window and we're hovering around 10th-12th unfortunately.. fitness getting the best of us so had to holiday out a few players regularly. Luckily, everywhere is tight in mid-table. Three wins in a row would effectively send us 7th, challenging for 6th.

Got knocked out the League Cup early on too but still in the FA Cup. Qualified in my Europa League group on 13 points.. Juventus won the group with 14. Rosenborg and this other Turkish club were in it. In January, I managed to sign Giuliano for £12.75m too, another great bargain signing. Managed to snap up a dutch defender called Stefan de Vriij.. bit young for what I wanted in defence as that has been the worst area so far but was the only best option after just being short of funds for German defender Reinartz.

Squad at the moment; Vorm, Drenthe, De Vriij, Magallon/Williams, Matthews, Cairney/Michu, Bressan, Menez/Dyer, Giuliano, Hernandez/Klasnic, Doumbia/Shechter.

Can't decide on a forward line up as they are all great. Giuliano looks positive from the FA Cup game and league game v Huddersfield so hopefully we score more goals than we concede :p

I must have played a different game all those years ago, if you wanted to cheat back then you just used the editor.

-Give your club 100,000,000 spending money
-Create some custom players with all 20 in stats
etc...

Or you could have fun by trying to create a fantastic training program that improved the stats of the youngsters as quickly as possible.

Or you scoured the transfer market for that hidden gem on a free transfer. This was fun, I don't think those unlockables sound fun :S

I've bought every version of CM/FM since CM2, so no doubt this will find its way onto my PC again. Lets hope that along with the new additions to the game, they have actually fixed the match AI holes that have been there for a couple of years now. fingers crossed next years game will have a new match engine.

FM Classic Mode :) For us that remember CM 01/02 and 97/98 with rose tinted spectacles :) Very nice!
I've been playing 97/98 again recently and have found it more fun than FM12!

Don't they always say latest December but usually go for October/very early November??
I'm sure that with each version, the release date goes back a week or so.

Is it only me that has spotted that the "in game" ways of unlocking these DLC's seem pretty damn hard and time consuming, without resorting to cheating anyway? If these new features are aimed at getting players who want a quick game to come back to FM as someone above suggested, then they are not likely to to want to put the hours in to become "manager of the year three times". If they really wanted casual gamers to come back to FM for a "quick game" and thus get themselves an extra £39.99 or whatever it costs these days, then add the extra options for free. It does feel a bit grubby of them.

I might abstain this year :o

I had 1284 on 11, which I blamed on leaving it on whilst my laptop was on standby over night.....

Already made 1300 on 12 :( running excuse is it has been on whilst I have been at uni a fair bit (and done the laptop standby thing) but it is still a massive amount....

Thankfully 12 is running of of pointless goals to hit (other than Burton in the 40k stadium)

Match day engine looks interesting so far

"We've made a host of massive changes to the visuals for 2013...

* Thanks to a licencing agreement with Bulgaria's top sportswear manufacturer Anakronistik, player's boots now come in not only black but also a range of exciting new colours that brings the game in line with current football trends, including Charcoal, Anthracite, Wet Slate, Grimsby Twilight and Fashanu Noir.

* This agreement also means we're able to update the referee and assistant kits with the same colours, across all competitions. Accuracy is our watchword!

* Advertising boards have seen a revolutionary makeover - now, the angle between the front and back of the boards can be set by the manager from the Club > Boardroom > Info > Stadium > Advertising screen [once unlocked]. Just like the pitch-side advertising you see in all the real-life top leagues in this, the century of dynamic electronics and at least half a dozen versions of Football Manager.

* We thought it was about time that we paid homage to all those matchday staff that give up their saturdays to look impassively and determinedly away from the action, so for 2013 we've put them in the game. Look out for them in the stands wearing the No-Vis jackets!

* We feel that cup finals and major tournaments should be real showpieces; games that transcend the ordinary and become the games that remain in the memory long after you've unlocked all the Steam achievements. That's why we've upped the tickertape count by 25% and the flares count from 1 to 2.

* And it's not just the visuals that have been overhauled - new in Football Manager 2013 is an audio engine that perfectly mimics that "80,000 crowd with the volume turned down" crowd sound you definitely definitely hear at all midweek evening non-league matches. Coupled with some serious tweaking to our industry-leading "PlayerShush" on-pitch audio simulator by sound-engineering wizard L.N.Keller and his team, it's 100% immersion for all you Lower League Managers..."
