***** Official Football Manager 13 Thread *****

Yeah I know. Thats why it is fun to just skim 'random' leagues, because of these stupid restrictions! I'll need some help if I decide to go to the USA, as I hear its complicated.

Ah the MLS isn't that complicated, just needs a lot of careful planning (no just buying what you need as you go along). There's a few good guides out there but I am not sure about the changes for this year. It'll be more fun a few years into the game as well when the draft system gets going :D

Quietly fixed Bishops Stortford, had to abandon the transfer window and start that again (little bit dishonest but when the team is just not going to stay up it has to be done). Managed to sign a quality CB from an Arab team along with some more midfielders, now 10th after 16 games :)

Regen striker is just getting better and better, despite me arguing with the staff on what to train him next in. I wont get promotion this year (missed out on far too many good players to stand a chance at that) but I should stay up I think :)

Lost to Fenerbache in my next game. So now I am 8 points behind after 6 games.

Great. Just great.

Time to run and get a new team??

Surprised peeps are disappointed with it but maybe I'm just a complete novice and have no experience of anything else :D

I'm loving my game but I think I'm about to be sacked doh!

Some people just aren't good at this one (and are refusing to learn new things ;))

That said this is the first year in a while where some of the changes haven't been great (mainly in the match day engine and the interface), though I really like the way it is much much harder to build a team up the leagues. Before you could just loan a few out of favour players from a couple of divisions up and storm lower leagues but now there is some proper realism to it all and it is much harder to get somewhere without building the reputation up.

I'm looking at Flamengo (Brazil). They sit 6th atm after 26 games, but their league finishes in December. Seems like the best option atm (if they sack their coach).

We can only hope...

Amazing option! If only you could play them and make them sack him... :p

Just beaten Everton at home to go 3rd in Le Champ  best bit of all, Villas-Boas was manager of Everton and was sacked for a 5-1 thumping away :D

Such a hilarious season with my Welsh regen striker sitting on 19 after 24 games!

Urgh steam crashed and took a few hours of fm with it

4th on january 1st in the champ :D hammering the transfer market for more midfielders though as we lack real depth there...

Just had a funny family look for shouting "MARIO FORMICA WANTS TO PLAY IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE ON HIS OWN" as he takes us up to 2-1 in the playoff final!!! (it's paused to get over screaming that)

I screamed and jumped....

Such a mad season, pretty much have to give Formica another contract for winning us the playoff final....

Oh and :D

Gutted however I got Adkins sacked from Villa for that :( (another sacked from playing us with AVB)

And owwww

Sharing with the franchise :( (though at least it's a ground I have been too)

I celebrated more than Gaston's goal against Arsenal on new years day and the penalty against Fulham on boxing day... (probably a bit ott considering they were real football days out) :D

Just madness that this is the smallest team I have ever seen in the premier league. I now have to go nuts and buy about half a team again to avoid constant losses.

Even worse been offered the Spurs job! One for everyone to answer, do I a. stick it out with my half built team and try to avoid going down or b. jump now and wait a year or two to get all my decent plays out of the team (signed one or two gems for the next couple of years already)

I would stick with BS. Whats the point going to Tottenham? Let me give you an idea. Imagine you spend 10 years building a building, Then 1/2 years before completion, you go and live in a hotel.

Might as well went to the hotel in the first place, no?

I got this offer some time back (forgot to post):
NikiMicallef_NewsInbox_zpsfc784e34.png

needless to say, didn't accept.

Stick with it ofc! You can always start a new save as spurs if that's what you really want :p awaiting the update that BS wins Champions League...

Haha! Yeah I know my head was saying take the money and build a mad all England squad but my heart wouldn't have been in it.

Looks like another 5 years to get champions league :p (especially now my team is really bloated from getting over excited and buying lots of quality prospects).

Have been offered the Liverpool job as well so have made ulternate universe saves where I take the spurs and liverpool jobs if I ever feel like ruining the careers of players I don't like in real life :D (Liverpool have Abonglahor who would be sold for scrap as soon as I take charge)

Ha! :D

I had one last season as Burton in L1, offered the Blackburn job in the champ and got them promoted (loaned everyone after half the team was sold and not replaced by Pardew). Left them instantly for Everton and turned them into a force (after Redknapp broke them). Just depends on when I get bored of Bishops Stortford or if I really want to do the MLS on this...

Ahhh thats quality! Pep Guardiola took them over on mine, wont get a chance to manage United for quite a few years...

Should win everything in the first season?

Buy Cabral! Needs to work on his concentration but should be a good player!

I am just about to brave about my 4th go at getting the transfer window right to promotion. Can't seem to get the balance of who I want and who I need into the squad yet and I keep shooting my self in the foot with some mad England u21's transfer that I shouldn't do...

I disagree! Anyone with the name Tibor and is that good at finishing, passing and general midfield play making must be bought. Mainly to relive one of those simpsons moments no one remembers about blaming that idiot Tibor again....

Anyway pair up Tibor and Kyle Taylor for a great midfield (Galarza and Wilshire are on too much cash)

That's genuinely interesting. I very rarely look at finishing for a CM, or even an AM... think I may need to change my tact!

I'v been playing with 3 the last 2 seasons, one that is a beast of a tackler, one runner (who can finish from distance) and one passer (with high first touch and decent finishing). Worked really well in L1 and the champ :) (interested to see how it will pan out in the prem)

Is there anyway of changing the layout so that its similar to the older fm games? I'm havig trouble navigating my way around.

Also, regarding training. What is best advised? Take the hands on approach or let the assistant manager deal with it? Not sure how effective it can be for me as I'm Harrogate Town and only have 2 coaches now, just signed Ugo Ehiogu and hopefully might get Steve Mcmanaman as youth coach :D

Not too sure about skins this year, usually there are a good few produced 2 weeks in that replicate the older games but iv taken to just learning the new one.

I tend to just stick it on team cohesion for training and then maybe mix it up after a few months. Probably not the best plan but it worked for lower leagues.

Also, how do you guys view your matches or highlights?

I'm pretty lazy - 2D classic split screen with ratings + condition in the other half of the screen, played on the fastest speed!

 I go for 3D at a good pace to enjoy the highlights (though there are less good highlights this year sadly).

Gets me shouting at my players who do and don't follow the game plan a bit too much though....

What stats do you lot look for when looking for physios? I did all my other coaching roles when the game came out, but i just left the physios as they were and got on with it without any problems.

I recently let their contracts run out and trying to find the best ones that i can find without using any of the sites listing names.

High physiotherapy, discipline and then mental/man management (in that order).

All found on the mental attributes filter (instead of the coaching)

Here's a fun irritant from nearly getting my prem team right (its been a week of mucking about with the transfer market assembling a squad that will ruin the champ and could just stay up in the perm).

Captain choice time! I have 2 candidates, 28 year old Hamdan Al-Kamali (cb with 14 influence and was a key player last year) or 19 year old Paul Owen (the regen striker from 2 seasons ago who has become amazing but is still young and only 13 influence).

If I pick Owen he doesn't like the pressure of being captain at such a young ages.

If I pick Al-Kamali Owen gets annoyed he wasn't made captain...

Everyone is delighted for Owen and most people are happy with Al-Kamali. What am I supposed to do?!?! (generally I want my captain to be a midfielder but no one has been about long enough or is a natural leader at the moment to do that and my old captain was just the cb that had stuck it out for years with us).

Finally got a little inspiration for the Bishops Stortford in the prem transfer window (it's been annoying me for a while so far).

:D

Just about have a balanced squad of players that can get away quickly if we go down and players that I want tied down for a long time regardless of which league I end up in.

So pleased with him (despite his fitness concerns) as he's about the only player in the team with any prem games under his belt, plus he takes the pressure off some of the kids I signed.

Also have Lucas Piazon who made exactly zero appearances for Chelsea but has been good over pre season.

And best of all Silva nearly scored a screamer which hit the post and my striker tapped in the rebound for 1-1 on the opening day at home to Fulham :)
