Lol awwwww... :p

So shouting WHO ARE YA! at my computer with a beer in hand is apparently not a legitimate thing to do on a thursday evening...

But for the first game of the season away at villa in the league cup I jumped out of my chair in excitement for the first time in ages on FM... :D 4-0 up at one stage and couldn't believe what I was seeing, villa aren't that good in real life and seem even worse on fm...

Great result but Villa have really good potential on FM if you must know. Benteke is a beast and ive seen someone get 45 Goals off of Bent in FM 12 in one season.

Oh yeah Benteke is better on FM than he is in real life (Hesky mark 2 from what I have seen), but they get forced into selling any one good quite quickly then got relegated badly so they were only a champ team (though the best one).

Best Charlton in the 3rd round :D

Decided it was best to stop playing for a bit after that (too much shouting GET IN at the computer).

Their team is amazing already.

Tbf, it doesn't look all that good on paper. Fenerbache's team looks stornger, but they have won the league for 5 (or 4) consecutive years, so it must be good. The wage thing is not a problem. There are many players with high contracts who are leaving (end of contract) and they will free up some 150k/w.

Now I need you guys to make a choice for me! :D

They have NORDIN!!!! Do it! :p

Nordin Ambrant has been one of those brilliant FM buys from fm10 for me, every year I have found him and loved it (though he's not quite as good in recent years). John Hetinga is a great option too, despite him annoying me one two many times at Everton and being replaced...

Lol Ozil is German :p

Does the Turkish thing count for people who's second nationality is Turkish too?? That should make it a bit easier to find eligible players that aren't in the foreign quota...

That's amazing! Sturridge on a free  some of those guys look too good! Sort it out and get everyone scoring :p

I finally got over the hated feeling at the end of the transfer window for L1 with Bishops Sortford and got on with the game, put Hull out of the 3rd round of the league cup on penalties after taking it to 4-4 :D

Just annoyed my beast Wesh regen striker is constantly called up for Wales U21 which I can't opt out of :(

On the plus Bébé now has Abdul Razak to join him on random "should be good" players that now finally get a chance at Bishops Stortford :) (also have jesse joronen who's Fulham's 3rd/4th choice keeper on that list). Have to play Man United in the 4th round of the league cup which will be interesting tomorrow too...

This update (along with the firmware fix for my mac mini) seem to have fixed the graphics! :D

Looks like I can run on high properly now!

Argh first dilemma of the game really, into december of my 4th season at Bishops Sotortford, L1 has been even closer than L2 and we are 6th after 21 games 3 points off top (though we just aren't putting our chances away so our gd is way off). Been offered the Inverness Cally Thistle job who are bottom of the spl with 8 points but only a win of safety. On the one hand they have a few beast players that I really want, Leon Britton for one, on the other hand they have sod all money for christmas and Bishops Stortford are on a roll, could luck promotion this year and if not should secure it next year with a couple of smart signings and a little more cash on the wage budget.

One to sleep on if my game stays in England to get the all the way up achievement or if I go to improve my career/reputation by taking bigger opportunities to probably end up with the Liverpool job fairly soon ('Arry has been there for a while and they look very broken now)

How do you guys quit the game?

What I normally do is press the 'Quit Game and Exit' button, and it always asks me to save the game. Sometimes, it decides to skip the save bit, and just close the game. Fair enough it tells me 'Do you want to close without saving' but I instinctively press yes, because I'm used to getting a different pop-up.

Takes the ****.

This time I lost my 5-0 win. Thankfully, I hadn't plaid the CL game, because I would be fuming. Managed to win the game 2-0, but Fenerbache won (they had previously lost).

Save manually then press cmd+Q ;)

Habit more than anything else that I don't know when it wants to save so I do it for my self usually to avoid those terrible moments...

196 hours already :( (though I think there was more in 12 and 11 at this point)

Hate it when players just stop scoring, had about 5 games where I couldn't seem to create any chances, let alone bury them. Getting everyone good in one easy game seems to fix it though.

Pentagon challenge!

@pingwing I create a LOT of chances, but bury none.

Love the idea of the Pentagon challenge! :p (just doing Africa is impossible really, probably will convert my Bishops Stortford save into that challenge eventually anyway for the fun of it, once I have made a non league team into a prem team).

Best monster chance game I have had recently is at home to Bournemouth, won 2-1 but had 35 chances!!! 14 on target and still only buried 2 :(

SHENANIGANS!

Crying it, how can loaning a player be rejected "because they want him to play at a higher level" when Leeds in the SAME division get accepted

Yes Leeds have a big reputation (from 2000ish and since have been doing lower leagues like a boss) but we are 9 points above them in the league!!!

SHENANIGANS!

^^ sorry but Wolves are too easy, picking them to start the game is cheating no matter what. Asked a mate about his Wolves save, basically he said they are like the 21st prem team, can buy almost anyone and so long as you win everything you are fine :p

You need to get an African team and stick with it for a few seasons. Obviously, you need to get very lucky. I'm hoping to have a good European run with Galatasaray, then actually start the challenge.

I am saving Africa for a separate save to get the Egyptian league enabled, seems the best way to tackle the african champions league (and ruin the challenge in one save). I like that plan, stick out a team till its 5-6 years in the future for good regens to come through and them hammer away!

Only thing that annoys me is all the big teams have started to hoover up all the good regens already, worse still they are playing them to keep them happy :(

Thankfully all the real players are rising up and getting their knickers in a twist about it which seems to mean good players are our there, just not the ones for the future...

That's madness! I got over excited buying in a keeper at £120k in january...

Might actually finish L1 this evening, 2nd-9th are separated by 2 points and I am 4th :D

All with their own resources eh.

Yep! Only so much you can do with loans, always a bit nutty building a team with the core being loan players I wont keep.

Anyway Finished the season this afternoon (what better use of a Sunday) AND THIS HAPPENED!

Beat Portsmouth in the semis 1-0 then 4-2 in two very gripping games. Took on Bradford in the final (who had some utter tanks up front) said just enjoy the game and see if we can win, went 2-0 up in the first 20 mins and held on to it! Mad season :D

Best player by a mile is this guy, about to get his first Wales cap whilst I rebuild the squad. (aka buy defenders)

Other notable buy of the season was this guy in midfield, got on a free and he has just dictated everything good in the team, not as many assists or goals as I would have liked but was so key to all of our good build up play.

Next season is going to be a nightmare, ex-prem teams and an away trip to St Marys is going to ruin us week in week out...

I showed you the stats of the guy costing 30M. He has 4 1/2* ability. How can i say no? The new CB is 3 1/2 * ability, with 4 1/2* potential. Once again, how can i say no?

He will take Heitinga's place. Heiting used to earn 130k/w, and this guy will earn less than 60k/w.

At least I am compensation in another way :P

Those guys you have signed so far are unbelievable! How are you finding them?? Just scouting like a boss till the turn up??

Great going - congratulations!! All the more so as I believe this is the hardest FM so far.

I could have stated with a lower league team but I'm a sucker for trying to sort out my team first, but also because I did Gillingham for 15 years in FM12...until the sods sacked me for coming 6th in the premiership that is. I just couldn't face another long struggle from the off with this version, let alone start at a non league club, but I know it will happen at some point...

Cheers :D

This is the first FM I have been able to tolerate non-league but its turned into a really fun journey.

So harsh getting sacked by Gillingham like that (unless you set it to WIN THE LEAGUE). Took Burton way too far last fm and want to concentrate on it this time (playing as Saints in this one is just no fun)

I know how you feel about loans :( I hate them unless its some young player who I am testing out and want to buy/develop in the future. Do you put a future fee on them? Even if its way out of budget, do it. I find that sometimes, around February time, if you enquire about the player, the team will ask you for around half of the future fee.

That regen striker is great  He looks good even for mid table prem teams. Well done on promotion too.:D

The DM will sign in summer, so is the CB.
They are all transfer listed. Yanga Mbwia and these 2 regens were on the transfer list so I couldn't say no. Sturridge left on a free. Yokuslu was with me at Kayserispor. The rest were all lucky tbf. One game left this season, then I will post my stuff.

I haven't been putting future fees on any loans yet, mostly because I never know how much cash I will have/will want to spend at the end of the year. Plus most the people I have loaned have been at the end of their contracts anyway making it a bit simpler to get ;) (and they have usually only been good enough for the league I am in, not really better next one). Might plan to do the loan thing next year though...

The regen guy was tearing up the BSP for 2 years and just got better this year, really hoping he makes the next step up with some Honduran guy I found on a free (20 and a quick striker with good crossing).

The season review for Turkey looked amazing, unbeaten in the league and a quality squad! Stay till you can compete in Europe with them or use it as a good jumping off point to an even bigger club?? (though I am jealous of some of the regen players, they look amazing)

Seems like a good plan! I had the same thing with the MLS restrictions, on the one had it made it challenging but after a while I wanted to cry with the lack of decent American players.

Should be able to get close to a decent Mexican or South American job with that sort of cv (hopefully) really want to do Mexico one day (and the MLS again) once Bishops Stortford have gone too far...
