Played it since Beta and racked up over 100 hours! Yes addict here about 24 hours a season i thinks.

Thinking winning stuff means the game is not deeply flawed.

So if I played Rome 2 on release and beat game does that mean the game was not broken and it was just people not knowing how to RTS lol ?

Well your name would suggest that horse racing is deeply flawed as well because he won loads? Or are you just into ****ging people off because you dont spend the time and effort into learning things and if you cant do them its FAULTY!

The game works fine, there has been some issues i've reported bugs on the SI forums several times with issues with the ME but everything has been addressed. Its as close to real football you are going to get without getting wet!

Now i never played Rome 2 so i wont comment on it.
Now you can carry on insulting people or have a discussion like a real person. This isnt a place for Trolls

I tell you something though I am really struggling to find young talent at the mo, the likes I had plenty of in 13.

15-16 year olds to develop. There has been very little worth buying. Perhaps 2 or 3 definites in one season in the top tier who will possibly be world class. But there's not a lot else. In 13 my shortlist would be full of 15-16 year olds and some of them were 4.5/5 star for me to watch and buy. So far I've got one chap, a English striker who was world class potential, now 5 star class. But he cost me £7 million. My shortlist is full of much older players this time round. Most selected from scouts. It's a bit different to say the least. I am hoping that as my team gets bigger I will have more choice. I have 18 scouts now, some 20/20, and 50% world coverage. I've been trying desperately to find coaches from around the world who help with the scouting coverage. So we will see what this season brings.

I don't know what else to do - I've trawled through hundreds of regens and when I click on search players I now have 42,000 to choose from, which is a step up from where I was before. The scouts are certainly worth investing in.

Hi mate i feel your pain. I have pumped in over 20m to my training facilities thats just the youth area, asked for it to be upgraded but i dont get anyone decent through the ranks im hoping by season 10 i may.
i spend a lot of time at the end of season looking for players that have been realsed from clubs that could be good. Takes some time but worth it. Got an amazing 5 star keeper for free from Ajax. Also depends on your DB size as well where you can look for youngsters. They always cost too much though.

Started the league badly, 3-0 loss to Chelsea, 5-3 loss to WBA and 1-0 loss to Liverpool. Beat Arsenal 1-0 and I haven't lost since (last game 1-1 draw to Southampton).

I am doing well in the league. Beat some Swedish team 11-1 in the 3rd Round, and also won the play off comfortably. Won my 2 group games 5-3 and 4-3 against Dinamo Tribilsi and Rubin Kazan respectively. Qualified for the next round in the Capital One Cup, beating Hull.

Only bought one player, Balanta. Argentinian CB. He cost me 9.5M to the club, and another 1.3M to the agent. I managed to get rid of a few fringe players, by sending them on loan/selling them. Getting Keisuke Honda on a free in Jan. Not sure who will leave haha

Doing fairly well with Fulham so far this season, started the season set to no first window budgets but broke my 'no signings until January' policy to sign Jonathan dos Santos on a free as he was released from Barcelona.

Currently 8th with a game in hand 28 games into the season.

I've loaned a hell of a lot of players out, but the main transfers so far:

My defence is so ****! In both games I started, my defense just leaks goals everywhere.

Just rage quit for the first time on FM14. Lost 4-1 to Championship's last place, Yeovil in the cup. Their keeper has just been nicknamed God. My defense was sleeping all through the game.

So frustrating!

My training is set to defensive movements, and I even tried playing a more defensive formation. Nothing works.

Doesn't help that Bony can't score for ****.

Why derpy?? Apart from killer corners and a couple of little niggles I like what I see. But then I'm no footballer so I don't really know the finer details. But it plays just fine for me.

It seems there is two camps of people on here, those that are happy and are playing the game well and those that are losing and blaming the match engine.
Yes its not perfect, but its better than it has been.
Of course your defenders will go to sleep some games but play a formation that can score goals and you will out score the opponent.
As for strikers not scoring, yes its frustating with some of them but i have had some great signings that have scored over 20 goals a season.
The press always ask about managers do you need to say more than they are asking, as they never shut up lol.

Thanks Philstanbridge i agree with you, it works just fine. Its not like watching match of the day, but didnt Norwhich lose 7-0 last week and win 3-1 today? and didnt Sheffield Wednesday beat Reading 5-2 to lose to Derby this week? or is that real life bugs?

I agree. I think players of FM are ignoring the human error and irregularity of real football. Macclesfield Town of the Conference beat Swindon Town of League One 4-0 today! I think FM'ers just expect that the best team should always win regardless of anything else.

I think the match engine is fine - but I watch the games in a 2D view on the fastest possible setting, so I imagine I miss an awful lot of what goes on.

The gripe I have is over the ratings. In FM 13, the top players over the season would have an average rating of around 7.9-8.1 whereas now they're around 7.4-7.5, with defenders and goalkeepers non-existent on the rating scale. There are only two goalkeepers on my save this season with a rating of 7.00+. My defenders and full backs are lucky to be hitting 7.00, whereas they're more likely to be hovering around 6.3-6.4. Lastly, there are only 8 strikers in the league at Christmas with an average rating of over 7.00. It's ridiculous! I've got a young forward who has 10 goals in 15 games, with 4 POMs, and his average rating is 6.8...

Also, does anyone know why I keep on conceding penalties? So far this season - at mid-December - I've been given zero penalties yet I've conceded 7 (SEVEN), with almost all being given as a result of an opposition corner.

I've got bog-standard corner marking, however I do have "hassle opposition" as a team order. Is it this which is causing it?

You seem unable to grasp the points people are making. Its not about the results its about the disastifaction with certain aspects of what is going on in ME. I did very well on my Leeds save, was I happy? No because of the amount of goals I was scoring from corners and the fact that my tactic basically exploited the ME's weakness.

The problem affects the AI just as much with regards to the defenders turning into Boumsong and full backs not performing or tackling as intended (as the people who make the game have pointed out and said are working on fixing it).

Do you even watch the matches or are you a commentary only person ?

Meh, 27 shots in a 0-0 draw against Cardiff.

I don't know what to think of this so far. Any tactical changes I make don't seem to be having any noticeable effect.

The whole game is leaving me a bit flat atm.

Kauto I watch all my games and extended highlights. I take what actually happens in them as a pinch of salt. I use it for positional purposes and tactics not actually if my defender trips over his feet and on the way down gets a burst lung. I'm not worried if it's exactly like real life. It's just a representation of what has happened.

Fozzy I've had some games where I've struggled to score and got beat 1-0 it's annoying. One game I had 32 shots they had 4 and I lost 4-1!! Was fuming. But was just a blip and in reality it can happen. Tactics need to be learnt by the player's. Have you looked at your players are your strikers target men and your playing them as poachers etc.

As for the comment about pens, I feel your pain. Try getting a more disciplined coach to help you out. Or ask your defenders who does it to stand on his feet more

It's all of them, not just one. And most are conceded from jumping for corners. Since I posted that, I've had two further given against me. That's 9 in 20 games

you cant tell me this game isn't broken when this happens so many times, ive got so many screenshots the same as these but no point putting them all up. I believe this does happen in football but not the same team week in week out no matter what formation or tactics you use. Ive played every football manager when its been released, before that I player championship manager and before that I played premier manager on the ps1 and mega drive. I know my stuff, im not saying im a jose but what I am saying is I follow these games and real football religiously and this game is not realistic and is not enjoyable.

Hi fella you seem to be struggling to put that ball in the onion bag. How is the shooting of your team? And what formation are you playing. I've tried one up top and what seems to happen is I get shots in but pot shots, and a lot of them. I played two up too and scored more because my players shot closer. Upload the highlights so I can see a game where you are shooting from. I bet it's all from far away. Make them shoot less..build up play more. I hear what you are saying and I feel your pain, but sometimes stats are just stats. Check out arsenal vs Dortmund Dortmund pummeled them for the most part arsenal two shots two goals (it may have been three in the end) but it was down to the chances and how they were taken.
