******* Official Football Manager 2015 Thread *******

Forgot to show this lad I found without a contract, hes been excellent in U21s I've only just started putting him on last 10mins in seniors so the stats don't really say much. Tempted to just chuck him on as starter hes got better finishing and acceleration than my main striker

He looks decent. What league are you by the way? I'm also finding it really difficult compared to 14. I'm in #1 spot as Bristol Rovers in the Conference Premier but it has been a hard slog all the way. Still got half a season to go and I have the team in second spot one point behind. I nearly got sacked early on as the board expected miracles.

The scouting is far improved generally but I am struggling to find those little gems that were easy to come by in 14. At the moment, and this is saying something for me, my best players are 30-35 years old!! I can't find any youth or young players that will accept contracts or that have the ability to turn inot something impressive. In 14 all my players were under 30!

League 1, hovering around mid table for 2nd season. Yes I found competition for good youth in England is crazy, even when they accept a deal they rarely choose to come to me. I signed a scout from Sweden (Patrik Andersson) who was based in UK and even though I can't actually scout them he still lets me know about some decent players from Scandinavia. I have a Swedish winger who is excellent when hes on form, quick strong and flair 16, Danish CB 192cm great mental stats and just signed a young Danish RB showing 4* potential. They seem to all speak English, are tall and strong and there's zero competition to sign them ;)

I've got that scout as well. In fact, I have him in all my saves :D What is his judging potential in yours? He is 12 and 11 in mine. He has got worse actually :(

In FM15? It's a lot harder than previous years that's for sure! In FM14 I could almost guarantee back to back promotion but this time around it's a bloody challenge in itself let alone doing it in every country. Provided you use the recommended starting coaching level of course

Nah, think I did it on 13. I need a short but still challenging 'challenge' (?).

lmao.... That looks like it's straight out of the game...

Well... I got Bristol Rovers into League 2 after one season. Now I am expected to win League 2 LOL! What??!??

Bloody work getting in the way of a good saved game. I work from home, and put in a good few hours on Sunday night in order to play all of yesterday... and ended up working from 9am to 1am yesterday instead! I think I need to sort out my priorities a bit more and focus on FM solely.

Anyway, two consecutive promotions with Cambridge and now entering into the fourth season of the game. I actually hate the first season of any save, don't find it interesting, so holidayed it until the end of the first year. Initial progress with Cambridge was slow, almost got sacked and was hovering just around the foot of League Two. Had bought in players to play a proper lower league system. Big centre backs, quick but rubbish wingers and a big man/little man combo up front - serious long ball stuff. It didn't work... and I had to resort to actually playing football. Which has now seen two successive promotions.

Last season was great - it was a case of concede loads, score more. My keeper only kept 4 clean sheets! Was hoping to go up via the play-offs, as I needed the ticket money, but I had a storming run:
Adam Campbell is a great option for a lower league pacey striker, good scoring record:
I've found that from the second season, scoping out the free transfers released from Ligue 1 and 2 in France is great. If you go for them immediately, then they'll likely cost you a £2k a go, but if you leave it until just after the season starts their wage requests plummet, and you can pick up some useful players. For instance, Alex Mendy scored 21 in 29 starts in League One, and was only on £650 per week last season.
Other strong freebies at good value in League Two are the likes of Paul Corry, Marlon Pack, Jamie Ness, etc. Also, Saif Salman is a good free option after a couple of seasons as he's got "good prem midfielder" potential and should got a work permit.
This season I'm pinning my hopes on the regens.
Mine (I think Nilsson is going to be incredible in a few years):

Loans (would love to sign Kolev, but they want £5m for him and my transfer budget in the Championship is less than £100k, and very annoyed that the Belgian is out for three months as he looks like a decent target man, despite the lack of bravery):

Holy Regens!! That Belgie striker looks incredible for 18. It's not always easy to tell how they will turn out but I like to use that attributes analysis table probably more than I should. Anything like that with good composure and high finishing will score loads of goals. Although his vision/creativity might be a little low and he's not a fast player, those attributes will only increase in time. He'll be the perfect TM in due course. But I bet he's as injury prone as anything..
Always seems to be the way.

So is this worth the upgrade from FM14? Not that I take much convincing - I almost bought it last night on the basis that it would be the first FM game where I could enter my real date of birth.

There's a some out there saying its not but having played it for some time already it definitely is worth it in my opinion. There are enough changes to warrant the new version. The fundamental game is the same/similar of course but there are a lot of bells and whistles. The new scouting engine is a great inclusion. Plus with the latest version you get all the latest updates which can't be modded including prize money and competitions. But for some reason it is more difficult (or at least it feels that way) and I can't put my finger on why.

basically in the new one it's a case of not having one week (can be a few months depending on the player location to actually get accurate stats) scouting like in fm 2014, some more conversations / relationships and then some bells on the 3d match engine.

Yes I think I am noticing something similar. I have a scout with 18/18 and high determination and he is incorrectly scouting abilities. He said a young striker with almost world class ability was a 3 star player! Having spent 2 weeks scouting the same player he now suggests that striker will become a 4-4.5 star player. But he still hasn't got 100% coverage of the player, even after several weeks of scouting. I would have expected a more accurate report from an 18/18 scout.

In fact, it's pretty disorientating to begin with. I just snapped up a free transfer of a defender whom I knew something about. My scouts kept telling me he would be alright but nothing amazing. 2-3 star they predicted. I signed him and within a couple of weeks in the squad he is now a 4 star potential central defender and one of my key players.

So I decided to make the stupid decision to purchase another FM game. Missed 14 as I have had bought every one since CM was an SI game.

Enjoying it so far, been playing as Coventry and am about 15 matches into the season, in the mid-table positions.

The scouting is interesting to say the least, but I believe it will encourage me to build up a really good pool of scouts to gain knowledge from and that scouting systems and networking with other clubs will really pay a much more integral part than in previous releases.

Will be sure to keep popping into the thread to see how everyone is getting on, hopefully terribly so I feel good about my abilities to gain a mid-table position every season :D

I'm finding it a bit crazy to be honest. Really struggling with the scouting full stop this year. I've got a couple of good scouts, and they are still predicting the wrong attributes and potential ability. I guess it will improve as I jump up the league and can invest more money in it. But at the mo it's a big gamble whatever I do.

Aye I'm in the same boat, love FM14 but not sure if it's worth the outlay to go to FM15
