******* Official Football Manager 2015 Thread *******

I'm so sick of being 2-0 up at half time and losing/drawning. It's like FIFA!

What tactics are you playing?

I rarely lose large advantages (2 or more) I think only a few times over 2 seasons I've had that sort of score line at half time brought to s draw. If I'm winning but not comfortable change your team instructions to more disciplined and maybe team talk them to tighten up?

Funnily enough last game I was 3-0 up half the against 2nd place and drew 3-3 full time, but I was 4/1 outsiders and also had a man sent off in the 48th minute which didn't help :p

It was a harsh red card (and I had a goal wrongly disallowed for offside) and I really miss the option to criticise refs in the media. So frustrating not being able to blast the ***** :D

Argggh... Managed to get my team in the Scottish Premiership, from League 1, so I've done really well. But the finances have been a permanent struggle. Now I'm in the Premiership the board have deemed it necessary to make improvements to the stadium. Now I'm insecure financially and have lost my best players :( I'm not sure what I can do now. It's ridiculous that the board have left the club in this state. They had to take out a £2.1 million loan to install undersoil heating, and I have very little income from sponsorship and other things. Now they wonder why I am losing!!!

Ayr United by chance??:D:D

This was up there in my all time favourite FM moments!

Last game in the group and I would be knocked out if Bayern and Atletico drew or if I lost to Lech - did the job at home to Lech was up 2-0 but they were 0-0 so I'd pretty much given up hope (look at all the draws between us 3 already, couple of which were 0-0 too)but then I get the message in-game 90+1 Atletico get a goal knocking out Bayern and I go through! What a tough group, first season in CL too

Bad news is I drew Juventus in next round who are 2nd favourites to win and are insane in my save :(

Does anyone here play this game on a macbook pro (retina)?

I assume the Mac version is exactly the same as the PC version? And how does it fair speed wise on the Macs (dual core or quad core)

Now thinking of getting a Macbook and this'll be my only game, so want to make sure it plays well? :)

Play on a new MacBook Pro Retina here.

Yes, of course the game is the same on PC as Mac , why on earth would it not be?

Plays fine :) depends a little on spec, but runs perfectly for me.

Thanks, and the reason I asked is a) I take nothing for granted, and b) I know they do different versions, and never having a Mac before I just wanted to check ;)

What spec is your MacBook Pro Retina? :)

Haha that is mental. I love seeing the underdogs drawn against the monsters. Well done for getting them into the top tier too.

I play FM2015 on a MacBook Pro Retina too and it's pretty fast for me. It depends on how many things happen on a given day, but each day generally takes 5 seconds or less to process.

Here's the specs of mine:

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012)
2.6 GHz (Max Turbo 3.6 GHz) Intel Core i7 (Intel Core i7-3720QM)
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB
512GB APPLE SSD SM512E

The newer MacBooks have a PCIe SSD, so disk access (i.e. loading and saving games) should be much quicker.

One thing to bare in mind is that OS X has an App Nap feature, so if you're multitasking like browsing the web whilst processing, then any apps in the background will be paused and your game won't advance.

I've disabled the App Nap feature because of this. You can disable it by running the following command in the Terminal:

defaults write NSGlobalDomain NSAppSleepDisabled -bool YES

If you disable it then your battery life will suffer, but I normally have the power adapter connected anyway.

Top info, thanks :)

Glad you mentioned the Nap feature, not heard of that outside of iPhones? Is this just for MacBooks or iMacs as well?

This is my current save in a nutshell:

1st Season: Vanerama Conference - Expectations: Play offs - Lost play off final

2nd Season: Vanerama Conference - Expectations: Winner - Won league by a large margin also the FA trophy (?)

3rd Season: League 2 - Expectations: Stay Up - I was top half with 20 or games to go (also knocked Middlesbrough out of the CC) when Fleetwood offered me a job in League 1, accepted it. Fleetwood were 20th, expectations were to stay up, I flirted with play offs but then some disastrous form resulted in a 14th place finish.

4th Season: League 1 - Expectations: Top half finish - Currently 9th, struggling for consistency but have knocked Burnley, Wigan and Spurs out of the CC!

My reputation is pretty excellent and it's nice this FM take into account your achievements in past seasons when the board assess you. I got linked with the Swansea job in the Championship but never got offered anything. Aim is to get myself to the PL, not fussed with getting a club there but I'd like to get Fleetwood into the Champ.

Both Barnet and Fleetwood I've had no money to spend so it's a challenge.

To be continued...

I got to the 6th round of the FA Cup (starting in the 1st round) and beat Championship teams Burnley, Sheff Wed and Derby, all of which were replays, pretty incredible. Chelsea stopped the run in the end, beating me 6-3 at my place, not a bad score! The best thing was I set the record number of goals scored AND conceded in the competition EVER! 24 scored, 17 conceded. Little old League 1 Fleetwood, ha. (2019 btw)

I'm still in second season after time going back to work no time. I'm currently sitting 3rd, 3 points off top in the league after 18 games, board blinking love me for it :p had some bad injury problems and having some inconsistency problems but adopted a third formation, a more defensive 4141 with counter attacking and currently unbeaten in 6.

Out of all cups but knocked out Preston in the CC before Everton beat me 4-3 in extra time in the next round. Beat Tranmere or something in the FA cup from the league cup and another L1 team in the Johnstone Paint before Mansfield beat me in both competitions.

I'm riding my luck a bit at times and pretty certain that wil run out soon and I'll drift toward mid table. Onward and upward though!

Also got offered an interview with Port Vale (9th in l1) and Morton who were third in Scotish championship but turned them both down.

Got this for my dad at Xmas with a laptop we got between us, he had first bought Fifa for the ps4 to manage the teams. I knew he would be blown away by football manager and has spent all of his spare time playing :p

I've been surprised by how much I've enjoyed it, I was at the stage of being fed up and bored with the series when I packed in but it really seems to have grown and perhaps the break has helped too but I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
