Enjoying it lots so far. Handling seems more forgiving than GRID's Formula 3 and I'm glad I can still drive smoothly round corners with a gamepad.

First impressions are that there is so much to do and think about when driving, let alone trying to fiddle with the balance mid-lap!

Dont worry same here.
Im glad someone else reported it over here on OCUK :)

Poor show on CMs part...

Yeah I'm glad there is somebody here too but I would have never run it in windowed mode if you hadn't have said. I was disapointed with the game purely because it wouldn't run well. Now I know my pc is more than capable of handling it at full and its just down to Codemasters or ATI to sort a patch/new drivers to get this game working properly in full screen.

Whilst I don't mind windowed mode too much, having the start menu and the window just slightly dampens the immersion to what is a really good game.

Fingers crossed for a Crossfire update. :)

Have finally tweaked the stearing settings with my G27 and got all the deadzones and sensitivities just how I want them. Pleased with the game.

It's all down to your driving style, I had 1 blowout in my first full season, and I got it by repeatedly running over one of the sharp kerbs in shanghai. The outside edges of kerbs absolutely ruin your tyres.

Yeah but that's not realistic, F1 drivers mount the rumble strips all the time it's a normal part of the racing line.

Not entirely sure after first impressions.

Compared to GP4 and the F1 cars in rFactor and the open wheelers in GTR Evo, it just seems a step backwards.

Will play on.

They were pulling our tinkles when they said it leaned more towards sim than arcade.

At full throttle on the start, I would expect a spin out... but no, you just merrily cruise forward.

Great game, really enjoying it and it plays well on my system, just wish my driving talent was up to the game, I smell hours of practice coming.

Just had a fun little play online. I was utterly utterly shocking with no TC. It was helluva good fun though. Didn't notice any performance issues online either other than my mic didn't seem to want to work.

This is what I'm finding. It's killing my tires, when in actual fact hitting the apex and mounting the curb slightly, happens in most laps for every driver in not just F1, but every form of racing. It's unrealistic to have it blow your tires this often - and frustrating.

Well ive proved it cpu limited on my sytem.
Even with the settings on 800x600 and everything on ultra low I still cant exceede 50fps. The gpu shows only 22% ulitization but the cpu is at 95%. On high settings at 1680 the gpu is still only at 60%

Proper FOV corrections (for both single-triple monitor set-ups (with a great video too)

Most players should use a FOV of about 23o for the most realism, the problem is that then you can't even see the front tyres (unless using multi-monitors). So I find that 50o is the best compromise. (The higher fov of the game makes us perceive speed and depth incorrectly - things are too far away and too fast. But it also means we don't get enough feeling of sped/bumpiness - we do with the smaller FOV)

This si why multiple monitors can be important for realistic views/speed. To calculate the most realistic FOV, use trig/Pythagoras and if you need help Google.

Camera mods

For those who agree the cockpit view is rubbish. (in the wrong place), use this bad boy. (also has a tv-cam style T-cam).

Hopefully someone will mod these physics soon so the game doesn't have such terrible handling/physics. (and the DIRE ffb ;) )

Downloaded the cockpit view mod but no idea where to put it. Where's it go fella?

What CPU and GPU have you got?

I have been playing for couple of hours, few practice, few time trials and done qualifying of first race. Views on the game so far - It isn't that sim like, however if it was it would be difficult to drive so for that I am glad. AI on legendary I qualified 20th (or 21st can't remember) so for me the AI are quick enough but for first time player I wouldn't expect to be that quick.

Interestingly I have noticed while in windowed mode at least, it doesn't 100% load each core but does make all my cores run at max 3.2ghz. I don't see why it is neccesary to do so because core 0 and core 1 were about 80% - 90% load while the others were more like 5% - 20% just seems to be running them at full for no reason apart from heating my room.

Couple of problems I noticed though, when I first played it I got an annoying stutter every so often, windowed and happened because my cpu was trying to turbo boost then dropping back to normal then turbo then dropping back etc etc. Turned off Turbo boost and was fine for about 20 mins and got another stutter  Tried the sound thing but no luck. MSI shows that GPU is ok with temps sitting in low 80's, gpu usage about 60%.

When it is all running fine though, MSI is showing I am getting just over 60fps at 1920 x 1080. I haven't tried windowed mode yet to see if it removes the stutter.

Overall: Good game, real enough to be fun arcade enough to be pick up and play just spoilt by these annoying problems.

I've always used automatic gear shifts in driving games but I've decided I want to get a real challenge out of this game, so I'm attacking it with no driving aids except the corners only driving line.

This, coupled with the fact I'm a steering wheel novice (only got my DFGT a couple of weeks ago) means I spend a lot of time facing the wrong way. :p

Still, I'm looking forward to the challenge and the hours of practice I'm going to need. It's a nice feeling to get a corner or bend just right, if only I could put them all together on 1 lap.

Best time at Sakhir currently is 2:09. Terrible, but I've only managed to put together a few complete laps so far. :)

Are the difficulty settings purely related to driving aids or can i change the computer AI settings somewhere too?

I put it on medium at the start of the career mode as i'm not usually brilliant at driving games but finished 3rd with fastest lap of 2:01 at Sakhir on my first race in a Lotus. I think having it a bit harder would be more entertaining, just wondering if I can only change the level of driver aids to do that or if there is more :p

Anyone else find that it runs 10 times better in windowed mode? Or can offer any solutions to get the same performance as windowed mode in full screen?

I believe it is crossfire related.

Lots of other things like drivers AI, tire simulation, fuel simulation etc. I have it on expert just for the challenge.

Scroll down from the driving aids and there's an option for amateur, expert, legendary etc.
