Intresting game. Not sure if I am in love with it or not. Anyway, the laptop runs it fine with everything on full at 1920x1200. Im running a Dell Precision M6500 (i7 cpu).

My first race whilst playing it properly was quite annoying. In expert and running a 7 years season, I qualified 17th, but took a 10 place quid penalty as I had 2 penalties. 1 for cutting corners and the other for causing an accidient. Then in the race I got a drive though for it as well. Plus I got a puncture as well!!! Only doing 10 lap races and the tyres were going yellow a lot!

UI think this is a lot easier than rFactor.

I've always used automatic gear shifts in driving games but I've decided I want to get a real challenge out of this game, so I'm attacking it with no driving aids except the corners only driving line.

This, coupled with the fact I'm a steering wheel novice (only got my DFGT a couple of weeks ago) means I spend a lot of time facing the wrong way. :p

Still, I'm looking forward to the challenge and the hours of practice I'm going to need. It's a nice feeling to get a corner or bend just right, if only I could put them all together on 1 lap.

Best time at Sakhir currently is 2:09. Terrible, but I've only managed to put together a few complete laps so far. :)

ive done same as you but i have the racing line on all the time. Once i've learned the track it will go off and i'll do quali and the race. Managed to do 2:00.815

I've turned off most driving aids with the exception of traction control which is set to medium. I find the driving line aid a bit of a distraction when racing even when its set to corner only. Turning it off completely hasn't slowed me down, but then I'm not particularly fast anyway. :o

The game is awesome with a G27 wheel. Shame I have stacks of uni work to do so won't be able to give the game some quality time for another week or two.

By the way do F1 cars have traction control? Would the most realistic setting be 'OFF' for this?

I put the driving line on at first but I then realised that I was just learning the shape of the line and not the track. The only thing I seemed to focus on was the line and I was missing out on the wider image of the track and the graphics. Turned it off now and am learning the tracks the hard way. I have played very few F1 games before so most of the tracks are completely new to me.

just played for about an hour now
needs a lot of fixes i think, is borderline crap i think, i want to like it but cant at the moment.
graphics look dated and the feel of the car is slow
im getting over 120fps with everything maxed, but now and again i get mad stutter for about 3 seconds, whats that about ?
needs an update fast or this game will be getting shelved in my house

Haha, I'm deffo a pedal masher myself. Guess I'll be keeping it on for a while yet then.
I thought I was a pedal masher, but I rarely get much wheel spin or lock my brakes. I've seen people playing online do both quite horribly though, so I'm guess I'm just more skilled than I thought ;)

E6600 and 5770

Ultra low for me at 2.7ghz = 25-30 fps

1.8ghz = 25-30fps aswell, both with CPU usage at around 70% and gpu usage stuck at 50-60%

This game is not CPU limited, it is bugged.

I agree it's very bugged and the list over at CM is geting bigger for all formats.
I did try window mode but still it did not use my Q9550 very much.

i agree with you about it feeling slow there is no sense of speed but i think the playability of this game is very high despite it's problems.and i can't awnser you about the stuttering as i don't get it.

Possibly an xfire issue?

Yeah I'm glad there is somebody here too but I would have never run it in windowed mode if you hadn't have said. I was disapointed with the game purely because it wouldn't run well. Now I know my pc is more than capable of handling it at full and its just down to Codemasters or ATI to sort a patch/new drivers to get this game working properly in full screen.

Whilst I don't mind windowed mode too much, having the start menu and the window just slightly dampens the immersion to what is a really good game.

Fingers crossed for a Crossfire update. :)

Have finally tweaked the stearing settings with my G27 and got all the deadzones and sensitivities just how I want them. Pleased with the game.

Good to hear bud. If you do find out anything about a tweak or patch drop me an email in trust if you would'nt mind? Cheers :)

The game is awesome with a G27 wheel.

Have you tried it with any of the proper racing sims? You'll be blown away. The ffb is a pile a snap in Grid and f1 2010. Try the ffb in iRacing and the latest builds of netkar (I can send you the abarth.exe and you can get he FFord demo online).

By the way do F1 cars have traction control? Would the most realistic setting be 'OFF' for this?

yep, in real-life it's not there. But the game isn't very realistic anyways. Probably 6/10 in terms of physics.

As before try the physics/handling/ffb combo in some of the rFactor mods iRacing & netkar then you'll experience realism.
