damn how hard is sakhir!!!

Spinning off everywhere looks like I will be practising for a few more days before doing a full race.

just looked at the real fastest lap set by Alonso earlier this year and it was 1:58:287. At the moment my best is 2:01ish with no assists

It is difficult to hook up a good lap around Bahrain - and the new section just kept confusing me. Australia and Malaysia are easier - especially once you get a new engine map for fast laps :)
 
Can't get lower than 2:00 at Sakir with the lotus. :(

2:00.24 is my best with the lotus thus far! (I've only been playing a few hours, I think if I put in a few more hours I could get under the 2'00 mark).
 
Trying first race without assists, 49 laps, hardest difficulty. The AI even on hardest are fairly easy. What's more of a challenge is controlling your own car. Spin spin spin.

Have to say I'm totally underwhelmed by the graphics. They look about 5 years old. As someone else said, Grid does look better.

I hate Sakhir. Now I can see why the F1 drivers were moaning about that new middle section.
 
1:54.378 in Sakhir with a Ferrari. Bought a DFGT today and already beat my best time with a pad by 3.5secs!

This is manual gears, all aids off exceot corner track guides (whilst i learn!)

This is my first ever steering wheel for games and i have to say i love it!
 
Giving up on this crap for now...

3rd time in a row: I set my strategy as pitting at end of lap 3 and end of lap 7, I am in about 4th or 5th at the end of that 3rd lap. I come into the pits a fair distance ahead of the guys behind me, finish my stop...and have to wait to let EVERYONE past me, they don't let me go until the whole lane is empty, leaving me in about 22nd or so...GAH :mad:

Aside from that, I am bloody well enjoying it, really really annoying that this is happening consistantly.
 
I'm having tyre blowouts practically every race, that's not realistic at all and very annoying when you have to make extra 30 sec pitstops compared to everybody else.

I had this problem in Dirt2. Does the game actually "start" in full screen mode?, or does it start off in a window mode "then" go to full screen? What about creating a shortcurt on desktop and start it Maximised, or even Compatabiblity/Administrator mode?, don't know what it is, hope you get it sorted though:)

It starts fullscreen. And runs ok-ish but certainly not as good as if I were to run it windows (but maximused)

It's all down to your driving style, I had 1 blowout in my first full season, and I got it by repeatedly running over one of the sharp kerbs in shanghai. The outside edges of kerbs absolutely ruin your tyres.
 
Er... when is it supposed to unlock on steam? I have been playing using steam in offline mode, but being that it gets released today, I thought I would go online, and it still shows preload!?

WTF?

A couple of restarts of steam has sorted it. Odd stuff! Tea then F1

I cant get under 2.04. only assist is racing line (not that I can get on them that well.)

I did the other day with Dynamic weather, it started off overcast but then it started raining and then the rain got harder and harder and the grip got worse and worse lol, after half an hour i was aqua plaining everywhere on full wets, great fun!

Playing with no assists, manual gears.

Done a 1.58 after learning the new section and changing the default setup.

The game defaulted onto a wet setup for me, so maybe you are on a wet set up.

First impressions of the game are good, only played TT.

50-60 FPS @1920x1200 on Ultra settings i720, GTX 460 (800, 2200), 6GB RAM, 260.63 beta driver.

Looks great to me.

No loading problems, No stuttering, default G25 settings used apart from steering deadzone (default is 5%, I changed to 0%)

Gear change noise is lagging behind, so changed from Rapture to Software.

I think I am going to love this game.
