Right bit more investigating by me over on the codemasters forum - I was getting the stutter almost from T1, but changing the replay file to read only seems to have sorted it out for the couple of trial laps I did. I will test properly tomorrow as too late now. Not a perfect solution as means I don't have any replays but I would rather have a playable game than replays.

@Larrs888 - Due to stutter problem I have only set the graphics in game to 1920 x 1080 at maximum and I get an easy steady 60fps. I will set the card settings tomorrow and see what I get.

Edit:@ ChrismScotland: Have you tried setting you replay file to read only? Location: C:\ProgramData\Codemasters\FormulaOne\DataCache\*username*\replay replay.pbf Most probably is a hidden folder but seems to have cured it for me. Other option is to create a symbolic link (though this made it worse for me) see here: http://community.codemasters.com/fo...-regarding-frame-skips-low-fps-lags-game.html

I don't get people complaining about performance - I have an e6550 and a 8800gt and the game runs fine for me at 1440 by 900. Maybe I'm just not so picky, had a bit of tearing in the paddock but that's it.

I get an almost constant 55fps with a 460 GTX, But I can not imagine the visuals push either a 460 or 470 anywhere near the limit....

Same as me with an i7 920@ stock.

GPU usage 65-70%

CPU usage 25-35%

Totally maxed all in game settings with 8xAA

Really enjoying, don't under stand all the complaints.

I honestly thought the guys on here complaing about the graphics where exaggerating but they arent :| Mine is supposedly on ultra and it looks awful. There must be something wrong, hell even the ranult decal on the R30 for me looks like its been drawn on by a child.

May be a related issue, I'm sometimes a PC noob, but, how the hell do I get this OFF windowed mode and back to full screen? Steam version btw

There is nothing wrong with the graphics, I'm guessing these people either have a bug or configuration issue. I'm using an ATI card (5850) and getting a steady 40FPS on Ultra, MSAAx8, 1680x1050 with Rapture enabled.

Make sure you have the latest NVIDIA/ATI drivers installed and no programs running in the background. AV is a big contender for performance related problems.

Also a good list of bugs and resolutions here - http://segmentnext.com/2010/09/23/f1-2010-errors-crashes-freezes-fixes/

Well done Codemasters, an excellent game and one which I will look forward to playing over the next weeks/months. You make us midlanders proud !

So I was razzing around on Circuit de Catalunya today when my useless engineer got even more irritating. For about five minutes I was getting this constantly:

'There's a yellow flag in sector 1, no overtaking'
'The debris has been cleared, green flag'
'There's been a crash in sector 1, yellow flag'
'Track cleared, green flag'
etc

About a thousand times later I decide to investigate, turns out my useless engineer was flummoxed by an equally stupid Lucas di Grassi:

Look at everyone just looking and chuckling in the pits. I had to skip to P2 just to shut my engineer up.

I think he meant it's not exactly a pretty game, which it isn't. It's drab and bland in comparison to Grid/Dirt/2

I'm really enjoying this, I've only managed to get a couple of hours in so far but it's quite enjoyable. I'm playing it with the Xbox 360 pad which seems fine for me, I'm also not getting any of the stuttering problems that other people have mentioned, full detail and running an HD5850 with an E8400 and 4GB of RAM. Some places the game is a bit ugly but I'm too busy driving to pay much attention to the stuff on the side of the tracks. A good game and seeing as we don't exactly have an abundance of recent F1 games then I'm sure I'll be playing this for a while, I'll have to try and get some times up in the other thread although I am far from spectacular. :)
