I think he meant it's not exactly a pretty game, which it isn't. It's drab and bland in comparison to Grid/Dirt/2

Just shows how real to life it is then to real F1:)

No, seriously, with my pair of 480's cranked up to 16aa/16/af/ and very high quality, it looks superb, esp the GFX tracks, like monaco and Singapore. However, talking of "tracks" GFX which some people have issue about, i understand. In monaco's Track in the tunnel, i don't think they laid a track at all. Nothing a few expert modders out there won't sort;)

Guys - Where do you even access graphics settings?

After a few hours of playing I think the game is OK.

Few points:

- I don't like the speedo in the bottom corner in the TV-Cam view. It should be like the real life tv cam view, this would help when changing gears as well.

- As an rFactor player(F1 mods) i'm a little disappointed at the difficulty levels on expert, especially TC. If you turn the TC off in rFactor you can actually tell there is no TC. With F1 2010, you can still stamp the throttle most of the time with no consequence.

- Following on from the previous point, you can't tell when the car is going to slide its rear end, so you have no chance of correction. I don't feel connected enough to the car through the wheel(DFP). In rFactor, you know you are driving on the edge all the time and can feel the back end sliding out...

Just a few points

Looks like I'm going to have to leave this be for a while. Still locked at 23fps even after disabling 2 cores. I'm also getting a rather weird glitch that seems to be connected to the glare, at times the screen pulses between pitch black and bright white. It's mainly in the menu's and settles down during racing, but it's still annoying.

The only thing that kinda matches that in Catalyst is if you untick the box that says "Use application setttings" in the 3D settings menu. Not tried it though for fear of impacting other games. Will play about with it tomorrow.

Download RadeonPro.

This lets you set the global gpu settings, and individual gpu settings for each game you want via profiles. It also triggers the profile when you start the game.

Much, much easier to work with than ATi's profile system.

I crashed out in Bahrain and gotba time peno in melbourne . I'm in Malaysia nown and that track is killing me just cant get the braking points right

I hated Malaysia so much that I retired from the race. I'm racing with Lotus and so far I finished first in Bahrain, ninth in Melbourne and the DNF in Malaysia. Shanghai now and after a few practice sessions and the qualifier I'm starting at 8th on the grid which isn't so bad. I'm enjoying the game a fair bit, I'm just wondering if you can get mid season contract offers or if you have to wait until the season ends.

damn i just came 10th in my first race with lotus.... yeah ive set it too easy i guess, but i werent to know.... the big issue is, i recon my fps was in the low teens for ALL of the race... Wierd since on thursday i managed a few quick races fine. Why oh why is this not working :(

Digging a little deeper there's a lot of cracks that are appearing in the game, and with codemasters promises. A lot of complaints on the official forums.

- Punctures are infact random, despite CM promising otherwise.
- Qualifying lap times are generated and the cars on the track have no bearing whatsoever on the lap times you'll see being posted.
- The Stewards must have something up their asses, going wide on corners, even when it was obvious you simply went wide and infact made up no time, often results in a penalty. As does AI cars colliding into the back of you.
- Unless you have a wheel, you're at a serious disadvantage (script/bug wise) as it's been noted it's much twitchier with a pad and the option of no assists has much more of an impact (difficulty wise)
- AI runs as if they have no fuel, whilst with fuel simulation on your car is affected (weighed down/slower). Turning fuel simulation off puts you on a more level playing field to the AI
- AI doesn't defend lines as we were told

etc. etc.

I'm not sure if you have set it too easy. My AI is on "Expert" at the moment, I think that's what the setting is called anyway, it's the one before "Legend" and I quite easily won at Bahrain, I had to fend off Vettel for the last two laps, but come on, a Lotus against a Red Bull, there will only be one winner in real life. I think the AI are a bit pants at dealing with corners, as somebody else said they seem to brake way earlier than is necessary. By the way, I'm not too good at this game, I'm not claiming to be, I just think that the AI should perform slightly better as it's obvious the amount of time they lose in the corners to even a mediocre driver such as myself.

For those with crossfire issues, I'm running 2x 5770's on 10.5 drivers and although I've only played a couple of hours, practising at Spa because I'm having GFWL issues so can't save the game, it plays perfectly at 1920*1080 with in-game details maxed, 4xAA and 16xAF. (I noticed the game looked terrible without setting the AF in the CCC, though strangely the AA doesn't seem very effective. I'll try 8x in both CCC and ingame at some point.)

In the Lotus in expert mode (no assists) my best lap of Spa was ~1'54 but there's much room for improvement!

For those saying even Legend AI is too easy you should check the simulation options and make sure tire wear and fuel load are on. It makes no difference to the AI cars at all, but can easily take 5 seconds off your lap time if they're disabled which would obviously skew the difficulty.

I should add, incase anyone from CM is reading, that I was hoping it would be a little harder to control. It's great fun but after the dev vids I was hoping that "expert" mode would be more simmy in terms of handling than it currently is.

I'm a little confused with the manual pitstop process, does anybody fully understand the process?

At what point can the pit limiter be applied, and is it ONLY when your speed is below 62 mph? I've tried to apply it early but still accelerate over the speed limit.

There are 2 lines crossing the pit lane, is this the window only?

This is driving me bats. I am just doing time trials and it keeps voiding my lap (AND THE NEXT ONE for some reason that I just can't fathom) if I go the slightest bit wide and in fact lose time because of it! I just have to keep restarting the session as it stops recording my time!!!! GRRRR!!!! I can't count the number of times that I have restarted a session because it stopped recording my time! There are loads of tracks there which I just haven't got personal bests on because of that.
