Online is a demo derby as with every online racing game. I qualify first by miles only to get shunted off the track in the first corner. If you're anywhere near the "pack" you won't be able to take a slow speed corner without someone trying to push you off the track. What's the point?

Try league racing. Much closer, cleaner, harder, faster and competitive. But great fun all the same.

I had tried to start a league for OcUK. But started the thread late on a friday night ;). Anyone interested quote this bit and we'll see if it's worth putting a competitive league together....

I can't for the life of me get round the hairpin in monaco at all. What am I doing wrong?!?!?!

You must mean the Loews hairpin. You need to take the right line or it's impossible. Stick as far as you can to the right until the turn, then cut in sharply.

I've just had a situation like this arise:

http://uk.gamespot.com/xbox360/driving/f12010/show_msgs.php?topic_id=m-1-56525087&pid=959808

I made a mistake entering the start/finish straight at Melbourne so had a look at who was slipstreaming me and it was a ghost-like Liuzzi. I slowed down to see what was going on and tried to squeeze him out. He ended up winning the place by going through me and solidified as a normal car after being assured of the place into the corner.

I don't even know what to say.

You are going too fast, probably.

The average speed real F1 cars take that corner is 30MPH and the teams fit a special steering rack so the cars can make the corner.

It just takes practise to be honest. I would say the only track I can get killer times on is Montreal, I know every stretch of that track off by heart but I know absolutely zip all about the other tracks. It's all about learning the tracks and practise to be honest.

Yep, fully agree, learning the track and memorising the turn in points is essential. I can lap quite well in Monza, Montreal, Hockenheim and Silverstone. On the other hand circuits such as Bahrain are quite tricky to master the slow speed corners. I could quite happily do the hotlapping part of the game and ignore the career mode until a patch comes out!

Could easily spend hours just doing TT on a single track in this game, especially when you can have the ghosts of 5 of your friends driving around aswell :D

One of the things I'm noticing on people discussing this game, on this and other forums, is the expectation of being able to drive the cars like rally cars and bump off walls and take 90 corners flat out.

This game requires patience (well at the higher levels) you have to learn the tracks, the braking points, the turn in points, when to change up and when to change down, the gears and on top of that pay attention to the other cars around you.

Don't expect to pick this up and dominate every track from the get go. Take your time, build up your speed gradually.

Taff

Im interested in getting this as at heart all boys are F1 fans.... seriously though, bar the concerns it might not work on the current laptop I have at a decent FPS... my may concerns are with the gameplay.

Are the threads on Codemasters forums correct?

Rubber band AI
AI do not actually drive their laps - the times are just created for them (sounds silly, yes the cars go round to block you and hold a racing line, BUT this does not actually reflect their time)... this is the thread they have atm, backed up with various data including no splits for CPU cars? No replays for CPU cars? Times not related to position ie 3rd place is 4 seconds faster on a lap than 2nd, but is behind them

All sorts of stuff on there if true makes the game an absolute mockery.

Is that how people are finding it? Or has no one really looked at those possible problems etc?

Ill try dig out the thread and link it up.

Here is the AI thread - http://community.codemasters.com/forum/f1-2010-game-1316/431006-confirmed-race-ai-phoney.html

This video backs it up/is what started it I assume:
