The official forums make my head hurt :( . Thank goodness we don't have the kind of people here as they do.

@webmonkeyuk: I feel your pain. I done a fresh install yesterday and after installing the game again and moving over my savegame back up it didn't even recognise it :( ... started again for the 3rd time.

Dirt 2 did the same to me a while back. Must remember this in future.

What files do you need to use to backup your career? Ive got two installs, one for old pc, one for new, and i cant for the life of me get my career on my new install. Ive copied the save game across and all it does it starts a new career every time?

Anyone use the quick menu much?

I just realised it was there lol. don't really have time in a race to hit the buttons to do anything.

Yeah, hard to concentrate on anything else tbh, especially if you're on a tricky circuit. Gear changes are so fast that's more than enough work! Try sitting on your hand down the straights to simulate the f-duct..

wheres the damage setting in the game? cant find it at all in any of the settings

Its in the pause menu during driving, just scroll down and its got damage visual or real or something.

Ive only come across 2 issues so far so im quite pleased. The random frame slowdowns (a few seconds of choppyness in the middle of nothing without fraps saying theres a fps drop) that people have been on about only seems to happen since I turned multisampling up to the max setting rather than the second to top that it was on so will try again after dropping it down again. 2nd issue is that I suck really bad.

Edit: Knocking the sampling down 1 seems to work.

Oh and ive found another thing that is a bit stupid. The AI blocking, they block each other a bit when you arent there, they block you a lot when you try and make a move. But if theres a few cars then they just block you and let everybody else through. Quite a few times a car has gone wide to defend against me and around 3 other cars have gone though on the inside.

Fast ****ing losing patience with this game. Shoddy AI, inconsistent penalties for doing absolutely nothing.

Now I play today and my save file is corrupt.

Can anyone explain why I get up to 8th before people pit in a race, get up to lap 7 or so then switch from prime to option, nobody else in the pit, but come out 18th or so? It drives me mad, I might as well not have bothered as I've ended up lower than my qual position (13th). Is this also part of the problem doing a 20% race or is it just the pit stop bug?

I also read about front wing and engine revs adjustment... is this actually possible in a race? There's no designated controls for them as far as I can see.

For those of you who are getting hammered in the pit-lane, I suggest you run an out of sync strategy.

What I tend to do is play 30% races. The recommended strategy is to pit after about 5-7 laps. I tend to pit after about 10 laps, after all my main rivals have pitted and fallen far behind me. I think go into the pits on dead tyres and when I come out of the pits, I am still far in the lead.

In summary, the default pit lane strategy is completely wrong and must be changed, in order to avoid getting hammered in the pit-lane.

For what it's worth (dunno if anything), I think it's a great game. I've had the savegame bug, which obviously needs a patch URGENTLY (it's related to the R&D aspect of practice sessions, apparently), but aside from that I haven't spotted anything out of the ordinary yet. No input lag, no penalties for doing "nothing", no random punctures (though they are quite possible if you're stressing tyres by running hard over kerbs all the time), AI good but fallible - they are quite capable of making a mistake when overtaking, either you or another AI.

Loving it tbh.

It is possible, but it is next to useless as it takes so long to access the menus. By the time I have made the changes I have spun off the track.

Try pressing 1, 2, 3 or 4.
Once you see those menus, you will get the idea.

Its easy peasy to adjust engine revs, wing adjustment etc during a race.

For a controller you will use the D pad to navigate the menu. If your using a steering wheel, just map some buttons to the same options. If your using a keyboard then use the other hand!
