Ok i've had the game for a few days now, started off a bit meh!, but really getting to grips with it now, and loving it, although I have made the decision only to do multiplayer and leaderboard time trials, I will not go anywhere near the career mode for fear of it ruining my enjoyment with the game so far.
At first the driving style (i'm using a logitech dfp) is somewhat counter-intuitive against say the likes of Forza 3 and GT5-P as for some corners you just have to go flat out full throttle (no i'm not using any traction control) and trust in the downforce capability of the car. Since adopting and trusting the on-rails ability of the car I am starting to get into a rhythm and I can see the beginnings of that almost mediative zone when playing, when those hot laps start to roll out.
I recommend for anyone with an fps lower than 60 (or whatever hz your monitor is) to enable vsync in game, and use d3doverrider to bring in the extra backbuffer to stop the huge vsync fps drops.
I've improved my loading times somewhat by having vsync on in game, but off with d3doverrider, not by a great deal but it does seem to help. Of course, if you run without vsync entirely then loading times are much quicker. It's almost as if the fps speed is directly proportional to the loading speed lol, how very odd
Favourite tracks so far : Yas Marina (Abu Dhabi), Spa & Monza.
If anyone has a Logitech DFP wheel, then you will find a nice .zip file posted on the official technical forum for the game, which sets the DPAD properly so you can use it both for quick menu, and selection menus, whilst also adding in the pit limiter and car status OSD.
