PC version at 1920 x 1080 with 8 x MSAA with mods though is always going to show the console versions up... Just looks more crisp, so the PS3 versions graphics aren't that bad, but now i've played the PC version - well you can tell.
i play it at 1920 x 1080 with 8 x MSAA and tbh it looks really good and it's smooth...

The AI is fake.
What the game SHOULD definitely have is the ability to switch cameras between cars on Quali as well as the race, so you can still watch the race, and in Quali you could see how the experts like MS or Hamilton were taking certain corners.

Agree with this - didn't they even look at other racing titles? surely they did some research or did they just have the blinkers on and just get told to make a rehash of Dirt 2/GRID with F1 cars.... I mean AI and camera switching is surely more important than being able to fast forward qualifying or the silly replay feature.

GTR Evolution had a brilliant camera system surely Codemasters would have been able to implement something like this?

The other sinister aspect is maybe they can't have camera switching because of the fake AI...

IIRC they said there is no camera switching because of technical issues on consoles, ie. it would take a few seconds to load the textures for a different part of the circuit off the disc, which would cause an unacceptable pause in the game while that occurred. Whether that is correct or just PR spin, who knows.

some of you guys need to stop moaning and carm down. it's a game, if you don't like the game or feel it's fake then don't play it. simple is that.

no point moaning about it, as it won't change anything of the game.

All a bit one sided and boring now though.

Ok I'll start. I think the graphics are amazing, the car models are perfect and the track sides are distracting. The rain effects are the best ever in a game. And if what it says about the racing line drying up and the puddles hydroplaning then that's pretty special. Its definitely not a simulation and shouldn't have been expected to be one going by grid dirt and dirt 2. What they have created instead is the experience of F1. TBH most people on this forum wouldn't stand a chance of staying on the track if they drove a real F1 car.

In regards to fake AI in races I don't think its true. In qualifying I'm not bothered if it is, I would prefer they posted up the real times achieved in F1 this year and see if I can get close.

All aside I think its a good game that will become much better with a patch or two. Dirt 2 was similar as now in its current form its a much better game performance and gameplay wise.

The game has its flaws but it is still fun :)

Anyone would have thought people were expecting the second coming of christ for £19 :o

Yes. The race line does dry much quicker than the rest of the track. I've seen it first hand in free practice in Malaysia. Sadly I have no screenies. You'll have to take my word for it.

I think its a great game. Not being a sim fanatic myself but still a racing fan I think CM have pitched this game just about perfectly. Yes the UI has an irritating console feel to it but once in game the racing is as real as it needs to be and messing around with the driver assists adds to the challenge.

It was never meant to be a sim, if it was a sim I wouldn't have bought it as I don't have the time to spend trying to master one. And neither do many others I suspect. There are plenty of sims out there for those who need the added depth and authenticity.
