What I mean is that it works out cheaper for me to just buy it from Steam now. If I buy a boxed copy, I will eventually want to have it on my Steam account anyway, so would pick it up during a Steam deal. Evetually it would cost me more. Since the game isn't steamworks, you won't be able to link your boxed copy to your Steam account (at least we don't think you will).

Edit: Plus it is £26.99 on Steam if you pre-order.

I personally like that it automatically updates the game, tracks play time and allows me to have the Steam overlay active to talk to friends etc. While not in this game, I like other features like Steam Cloud (backs up game saves and settings) and Steam achivements. Oh and the occasional crazy deals on there. Get all my games there these days.
 
6pm for steam unlocks? pfft

Hopefully my £19 boxed copy will arrive on Thursday :D

*prepares to have egg on face when etailer gets it wrong and i dont get it till monday :p

GFWL - although I haven't had has many problems as most with GFWL.

Might unlock sooner - a few games have e.g. Dragon Age that unlocked 24 hours early. But retail pre-orders will probably start arriving Wednesday/Thursday. I am happy to wait a day or so to have it on Steam.

I've never raced online but I could imagine that they are a bit mad. I will probably be playing this single player mostly.

Having gone through a bit of a trial period (during which everything seemed to work quite smoothly) I can now finally present the (mostly) working Steam Names List wherein you will find a list of people who use the steam platform for online gaming and (eventually) the games which they play.

For the moment the games which people can associate their name with are:

Whether it will be useful or not now is another matter but it only took a few minutes to knock up and can't do any harm.

Games currently on the list:

Bioshock 2
Dawn of War 2
Grand Theft Auto IV
Dirt 2
F1 2010

I've moved Dirt 2 onto the GFWL list as it really belongs there instead but don't fear, if you've added your name to the other list I've amended your details to the GFWL list.

Any other games which you feel need adding to the list just give me a shout and I'll sort it out.



Note: I've noticed a few issues opening up the googledocs in Opera since the latest Opera update but they work perfectly fine in IE8, Firefox and Chrome.
