Why has this been the case?
Pro-orders are pretty much sold out for pc everywhere and the PC version is on a limited retail release, so not many if any at all will be produced in the future. Why has this been the case?

I'm not coming on here to try and get on your wick, but it feels like we are totally going in circles. I'm not "100%" on anything, but about a trillion videos have just been released and all I'm trying to do is give my opinion on what I can see. I'm doing this because I wan't to talk about the game and there is only so many times I could say 'OMG I'm sooooo looking forward to this!!11!'.AI: you will be playing the game in less than week. By which time you will be able to see first hand, just how good/bad the AI are. I wouldn't trust 100% anything which I see in a video. I would trust user reviews more than anything, however, as the game hasnt been released no users can review the game yet.
That's exactly what I'm worried about. As far as I'm concerned, this isn't a good thing. F1 is fragile, you can't just barge your way through, you have to pick your moment. With forgiving physics you can just BTCC your way through to victory, this might be fun for those that don't really follow F1 but a shame for everyone else.Damage Model: most people who have played the game have all commented that the cars are not fragile. This means that your car won't get easily (realistically) damaged.
I know there will be mods and will be the superior version because of it, I'm just not holding my breath on anything fantastic coming out too soon. That won't stop fans from developing techniques to apply all sorts of mods. I don't think I've ever played an F1 game on a PC, which didn't have any mods available. If this game doesnt have any mods, then this will probably be the first F1 game in history which prevented mods.
With regards to mods, take what Codemasters say, with a massive pinch of salt. Codemasters say no mods, I saw minor mods available within 14 days of release and major mods available within a couple of months.
I'm sure next year damage will be much improved. I don't fully agree about getting taken out being worse than poor damage though. IMO, this will totally alter peoples on track etiquette, taking liberties and perhaps even using your car in a total nob head manner for an advantage. I predict there will be way too many frantic overtakes in public races, but then public is usually always terrible in most games.I was dissapointed to hear about the damage but you cant please every one. Say if your playing online and some one else makes a mistake in the first few laps and puts u out for the rest of the race imo that wouldnt be very fun.
Plus theres so many parts of a F1 car that can get damaged or fall off or go wrong, each little part could effect performance and handling drasticly, to get that right and accurate would take so much time. Its a much harder task then making a damage model for a rally car for example.
I think now the have the game done they can reuse a lot of the stuff for next year like the tracks and drivers and cars. Next year they can focus on adding more realistic damage a more in depth season mode and all the other bells and whistles they didnt have time to do.
So long as the racing feels good and the cars handle like they should i will be happy
^^ yes
8/10 eurogamer - about expected, will have to test the game out before i consider a purchase
So the numpty that I am, cancelled the preorder from the shop selling it for 19.79 (dont ask).
What are my other options folks?
(they will not let me reorder due to being no longer available).
Steam is your best bet - think it is the cheapest to. There still seem to be copies on Amazon.
Steam cheapest? Wasnt it 29.99?
(The place I ordered from is £19 )
I currently have it on preorder from Coolshop.
(Are we ok to use retailer names btw?)
£26 with the pre-order deal (so a fraction more than coolshop). I *think* all pre-orders will get boxed copies. But that will be the end of the boxed copies. Still cheaper for me just getting it on Steam - I would end up getting it in a deal there eventually anyway!
Yes, we are (the rules are around here somewhere).
How are amazon for preorders do they send for release day? (I was under impression that you had to pay for deliery with Amazon etc)
Why is it cheaper getting it from steam if theyre doing it for 29.99 when Amazon, coolshop etc are doing it for 25/26 pounds?
