Guys, the games unplayable.

You do a lap then it starts stuttering quite badly and just gets worsed the longer you carry on.

This is with HD5870 and CAT 10.9a, looks like ATI screwed up again.

Turning V-Sync off is supposed to help greatly. Also, changing the sound option from rapture to software eliminates a lot problems, Its also supposed to help with the gear changing bug as well

If your using 6 Cores you will need run msconfig and change it to use 4 cores only. The game doesn't detect 6 and will only use one and you get the problem you described. -Taken from Codemasters forum, but I cant find the link now. I think it might of been mentioned earlier in the thread as well

I'm playing on a 4870 at 1920x1200 settings at high and have none of the problems you describe.

Ouch. Yesterday I was praising the AI and it does compete but it's just so damn slow once you get used to the track. I started my career with all assists off and AI on hardest possible. With my Lotus I managed a 9th position in qualifying but in the race I was around a second faster than *anyone else*. Of course Hamilton ruined my race when I was coming out of the pit. He was trying to pass Webber and drove exactly on the spot where you come out of the pits. I got black flagged after he crashed into me and I ended up sliding on Webber. But the thing is, I had already done my pitstop and Webber & Hamilton were fighting for #1 and #2 position and they hadn't done their pitstop yet! So I was roughly 20-25 seconds ahead of them at that point. Again, every assist turned off with AI on hardest difficulty. On a freaking Lotus.

I really hope someone tinkers the AI on the PC and makes it a lot faster at least on some tracks (Bahrain, Canada come to mind). Probably no point expecting Codemasters to fix the AI as they are probably already working on F1 2011. Or maybe for once they actually do fix bugs like these? We'll see...

What is a "Flying Lap"?

Usually to set a qualifying lap you need to do at least three laps.

An out lap (leaving the pits), a flying lap (timed from start line to start line) or multiple flying laps, and an in lap (returning to the pits).

If you select to do a flying lap, you get warped to the start of the straight to skip the out lap, ready to set a time on your next lap.

Ahh I see :) Thanks!

Tried all three sound options and v-sync was disabled in CCC and game anyway and still it stutters with crossfire enabled or disabled..

Also, using i7 920 so that's not an issue or shouldn't be.

Thanks anyway, I guess I'll just play something else. :(

Just had a go on this. initial impressions is that its a 7.5/10 in terms of handly and physics. i turned everything off. its a tad bit too easy to control the car for my liking but when you hit the tarmack your basically screwed as it aint easy to come off it. Also teh wheel locks when you break to hard and the engine makes a funny noise as if your about to blow it if you hit on the acceleration too hard.

Just found this I took from the codemasters forum earlier, copied and pasted from chatlog:
"IF YOU HAVE A 6 CORE CPU THE GAME IS NOT CODED TO DETECT IT AND IT WILL ONLY USE A SINGLE CORE

START MSCONFIG AND IN ADVANCED BOOT OPTIONS SET CPU'S TO 4 IF YOU DONT YOU WILL EVENTUALLY ENCOUNTER A BUG WHERE THE GAME WILL CRASH TRYING TO LOAD A RACE AND YOUR GAME PERFORMANCE WILL OBVIOUSLY BE POOR."

Other posts I've found have said using this method fix's the problem

Hope this helps mate.
