***Official Formula One 2011 Thread***

Lol, suspicions were right.

Gets past the initial loading screen every time with the mechanical HDD. It's almost as if the content loads before the actual loading screen comes up when its off the SSD, therefore the game misses the trigger to continue onto the main menu.

It's not a crash to desktop, it's just that the loading screen gets stuck into an infinite loop and never actually progresses past it.

I'll get a video recorded in a bit to show what I mean, but if im right then this could become a common problem with fast SSD's!

My HDD is a 7200rpm, so miles slower than the SSD and slower still than your Velociraptor... Obviously Codemasters didn't try the game on anything except 5400rpm HDDs i guess.

I installed onto an Crucial M4 (0009) last night just fine, pretty sure thats faster than your Raptor
The legitimacy of my install... dubious, till the postie arrives tomorrow anyway, but it installed just fine.

Im still concerned by how many shortcuts Codemasters have taken to do things in the game, im not aware of any rule that allows you to overtake under SC simply because you have a bit of damage to your front wing, let alone the fact that ive seen cars drive through another because otherwise they'd be stuck. They take shortcuts, it might make *some* sense what they do, but if it isnt realistic, it isnt realistic, simple as that.
In that video, after the driver pitted on his outlap he had Vettel trying to pass Massa who had no front wing. There was seemingly a big crash just before the pit entry on that first lap, so why hadnt Massa pitted?? How had such a heavy crash happened under SC?? Seems very odd tbh. I just hope there isnt going to be a long list of faults with the game, like last year, where elements of the game werent really coded in properly, it was just done lazy to say it was in the game and then abandoned once they'd cashed in and wanted money for 2011.

Well i took the plunge last night and orderd both F1 2011 and the Thrustmaster Ferrari F430 wheel.

Received two emails this morning saying they had been dispatched. Great!

Should receive F1 tomorrow and hopefully the wheel on Friday, can't wait that's the weekend sorted!

Hope I like the Thrustmaster wheel, managed to order it for £69.99, decided I couln't justify the cost of the G27.

Just jumped on it again, mainly to go back and have another crack at getting the wheel settings to feel right, and it seems im about 90% there but the 10% im missing isnt possible to achieve because i'd have to start using negative numbers. Im not getting 1:1 steering which bugs me.
It'll probably take someone to have more of a play with it i guess. Im used to 200' in the logitech profiler, so maybe i need to go to say 270' and re-adjust for that to obtain true 1:1 results.

Last night I also skipped out the fact that i couldnt get Dx11, assumed it was due to the 'version' of the game i was playing and its limitations and tomorrow i'd be fine. Seems i was wrong, and this game is completely screwed under Crossfire.
Was getting around 60% usage on both cards, same for CPU, and around 30-40fps on Ultra with Dx9 only (settings show dx11, but its really doing 9). I've just disabled crossfire, loaded the game up and its running Dx11, 58-62fps on 100% usage on that 1 card.

I went out and bought crossfire cos i was told all the hassle of getting crossfire to work was a thing of the past... well thats clearly rubbish cos its been nothing but hassle the 2-3wk ive had it, and thats on games released this month alone (F1, Dead Island & TM2).

Turn up the steering deadzone and turn down the steering linearity. Not guaranteed to work but did it for me on dirt 2

Where/how do you do this?

When I set 360 pad you dont gte the options to set deadzone and linearity. If I set custom and the pad doesnt work. I have also tried setting custom with gamepad enterprise

Just done 2 races in career mode. Both on medium, one rain with assists and second in the dry with medium/no assists.

I really realy suck at this game. I'm going to have to put assists on all the time but have hard opponents to make it a challenge. I'm sick of spinning out 3 times per lap

Getting problems here where the lobby leader game hangs/crashes after a race? Not sure why there should be a simple bug like that in the game.

More 'lets drive through other people' pics. These are from the benchmark, not my driving :p

Just sorted out a RadeonPro profile to disable Crossfire when it runs that exe, so that solves that issue for the time being at least, however it does seem to be running in dx9 on the benchmarks, whereas CCC disabling it at least it runs in dx11.

I've just been having a look at the benchmark xml files, and it looks as though you could define your own somehow, and while looking through the install files i found this:
[install folder]\gameconfig\video.xml

really struggling guys so looking for some advice ;(

started a season with Lotus and even running 20% distance im struggling to not get lapped and can only qualify a lowly 24th

i'm a good 5-6 seconds a lap off the pace where am i going wrong?

It seems that Logitech DFGT settings from F1 2010 are completely useless in F1 2011. I tried to use them and i was all over the place.

I use the DFP try these

Steering Deadzone : 0%
Steering saturation : 15%
Steering linearity : 50%

and the rest at 0%

FF
Enviormental : 50%
Strength : 70%
Wheel Weight : 50%

Then in the Logitech Profiler

FF
Overall Strength : 70%
Spring : 0%
Damper : 0%

Enable centring spring then put it to 0%

Report combined pedals unticked

240 degrees lock

allow game to change settings ticked.

Have you played an F1 game before? First I would say lower the difficulty and then as for driving the car be patient and hit those apexs! Brake as late as possible but make sure you slow down correctly for the corner and patiently wait before putting your foot down again!

Also with the Lotus as it's a slower car you're probably expected to be in 20-24th place anyways :)
