***Official Formula One 2011 Thread***

My f430 arrived this morning. Not played with it yet but ive got it out the box and it looks and feels awesome.Just waiting for the game to arrive now :D

Sounds like Sauber are this years Force India then!

Also, apologies for never getting back to this thread after GAMEFest. Me and a couple of mates had a quick go before the horde arrived, and it felt pretty dam sweet. I instantly tried wet monaco and failed... miserably. The rain effect mixed in with a complete lack of grip compared to 2010 made a tasty first corner incident.

My friend on the other hand tried sunny catalyuna (just to see what the AI was like, as we all know how insane they were around that track) and he said it felt good. While feeling like you have less grip, it was much easier to attack the car.

My copy (along with 5 other uni mates) got dispatched yesterday so hopefully it will arrive tomorrow. Add me: carrot1401 :)

Obvious solution but it really makes me feel sad more than anything that after spending money on hardware you just get shafted more and more.
but at 1920x1080 you don't really need trifire enabled

also it's a new game u got to wait for the cf profiles

Sorry about this, but the more info you can provide the more variables we can eliminate. If you have the time can you answer as much of the below as possible. Feel free to email me the details at [email protected] as if you answer all the questions it would be a hefty post!

• Confirm for us that “forced everything off” means the driving assists, and the mode is long race weekend.

• Both players graphical settings (screenshot the My F1 -> Graphics screen) and what DirectX version you are running in along with if you are using crossfire.

• If are using the US version, and if it's steam or retail.

• The exact point the car received the terminal damage (if you can FRAPS or a screenshot of the point it occurs)

• What modes were played before you went Coop/Sauber and if you had terminal damage before (and method of damage)

• If you are using a wheel and what model.

• If you had modified the car setup in any way, either using Quick Setup, tyres, or the car monitor.

• Was this 100% of the time for both of you?

Forced off does mean the driving assists.

I was playing with graphics everything at max. 1920x1080 res, direct 11. You will need to ask Stoke for his .

We bought the UK version but unlocked it on steam by going on the american steam.

The car hits terminal damage just as you get lowered down and your in game monitor starts going black.

No game modes were played by me anyway before co-op we both restarted the game etc as well.

I was using a wheel. Driving Force Pro.

It was 100% of the team for both of us yes.

Hope I helped.

He really doesn't, my 5850 at 2048x chews through this no problem.

Not really the point, it's somewhat frustrating having to disable things just to run one game! I understand that it's not 100% Codemasters fault, but it's still not something you like happening when you've just bought a game!

Many thanks for the reply. Was it a long race weekend mate?

Also, if you could upload a dxdiag to somewhere like pastebin that would be a great help.

This game runs like an absolute beauty :D

My system is only an i7 @ 4ghz with 6970/6950/6950 trifire, it's really running immense at 1920x1080!!!

One thing that can potentially ruin any feeling driving the cars with a wheel: override input device type -> wheel. If you forget to do this, you are effectively driving with gamepad/keyboard(?) settings and have a huuuuge deadzone even with deadzone (and other wheel settings) set to 0%. Notice that this is a separate setting to choosing your controller. I was cursing the game to hell before I noticed this setting and after changing that, it's now a very enjoyable game with a wheel. I think the optimal settings for a Fanatec wheel is ~270 degrees from Fanatec settings and everything in-game turned to 0%.

The game is finally where I wanted it to be year ago - believable F1 simulation. Mind you, it's still not a hardcore simulation but it's now good enough to satisfy even most sim gamers. Couple of console-driven things I'd still like changed: more AI settings - preferably at least 30-40 different difficulty levels instead of four. With four settings it's the usual problem, professional is too slow, legend is too fast (for now). The second thing is changing the length of the race. It jumps from 10% to 20% to 50%, at least give us 5% increments if not 1% increments?

But overall, I'm extremely satisfied with the game. Finally we have actual AI drivers driving on the circuit. I've no idea what that was all about last year but at least it's fixed now. Some people have issues with fps (hopefully fixed with upcoming drivers?) but I'm running everything at maximum (4x AA) and getting 80+ fps even at the start of wet races at 1920x1080. Overclocked 2500k and a 6970.

Helios, is there any chance you could have a look into the SSD issue i mentioned a couple of pages back? I'm currently having to run the game off a second steam install with just F1 2011 on it on a mechanical HDD which is annoying to say the least :(

I'll boot the game on my ssd 20 times for you A random name, if I don't get the problem then it is probably your pc.

Edit: Out of interest is both your OS and game on the SSD or just the game?

Cant you make a profile in the ati thing so it automatically disables crossfire for F1?

As to the SSD issue you're experiencing, all the guys here on SSD’s have not reported any boot problems.

Couple of quick questions for you. The guys here have the OS and game on the same drive here, do you have these on seperate drives? We're also all running retail disk versions of the game, are you using Steam?

If you could link me to a dxdiag uploaded to pastebin, that would also help.

Well I just installed it and ran the benchmark, avg 55fps at 2048x all settings on max with 2xAA. Runs silky smooth.

AMD 5850 at stock on a Phenom II tri-core @ 3.5GHz.

I won't have chance to play it until tomorrow though, got other priorities.

I get avg of 47fps with everything maxed out, 4xaa, at 1920x1200
