I caved was not going to buy but a well known shop is selling for only £16.86 (they gave me £1 loyaly discount as well) so I knew it was worth that to me
PC-DVD arrived today. Its effectively F1 2010 with season updates & a few new features plus most of the annoying features of 2010 thankfully removed as Codemasters have listened.
Graphically in DX11 with max everything & the highest possible AA + vsync I am seeing a constant 60 FPS & ultra smooth gameplay @ 1920x1200. The only glitches I can see are the deliberate one where if a car is too close to the other it can sometimes appear to pass through the car in front if you do not have the realistic settings as there is no crashing on the easy modes if you disable certain settings.
Change it to realistic this does not happen you collide exactly like you would in the real world so its doing exactly what its supposed to in the realistic gameplay mode. I can guess if you play with no realism the cars pass through as no crashes to enforce
Loading times are improved on F1 2010 & the menus are very lightweight now like they always should be no fancy front end thankfully!!
Cars handle like a dream very easy to drive with aids on but obviously more challenging with no aids.
Graphically its slightly better looking than F1 2010 but not by much. You can see the EGO engine showing its age in places with a lack of detail on some track details but in other places there is more detail & the DX11 post pro effects add some nice touches like enhanced reflections which are stunning & some fancy light bloom & lens flare reflections. Overall its a mixed bag although the cars all look stunning with massive amounts of detail & a large number of polygons. The cars are the real stars here the rest of the race track is passable but to keep FPS high Codemasters obviously chose to keep some background graphics you do not see for long low detail/low res.
Overall I would say Codemasters have definately taken onboard a lot of community complaints from F1 2010 & taken steps to improve it a lot. Its now much faster to get into races & you can skip a lot of pre or post race game rendered scenes so perhaps 1-2 min between races/sessions now.
Its still a sim/arcade game you chose which suits you best but to master on sim will take a lot of skill/time/dedication so plenty of gameplay time here & most of the achievements are SP based only a few online achievements but you also have the fun Co-Op modes to try to win the championship with a human Co-Op teammate
My expectations were not high & I was not even going to buy this but for the excellent price & effort Codemasters have obviously put in I think its well worth getting especially if you like/love F1
