***Official Formula One 2011 Thread***

Another **** poor game made by the amateurs called code masters.

Game not starting full screen, so I have to alt+enter and change the damn resolution every time i start the game. Rapture sound lags behind by miles, low fps, shuttering because of the replay recording when you are 10 laps into a race. DX9 has an average of 10 hour loading time.

Fixed most of the problems but can't get around the replay shuttering issue, mainly because I haven't got a DataCache folder (somehow).

Using 1090t, 4GB RAM & GTX 460. Same goddamn bugs that were in the game last year.

Last time I am buying a game from sh*tmasters.

You've updated the Rapture drivers? http://www.blueripplesound.com/

What version of the game do you have, Steam or retail?

Enable hidden files. Remove the 2GB replay file.

C:\ProgramData\Codemasters\FormulaOne2011\DataCache\yourname\replay.pbf

Programs or (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Codemasters\FormulaOn e2011\DataCache\your profile name\replay.pbf

Might be a replay folder then replay.pbf.

Startup the game, then quit. Make sure it's 0kb, read only.

Mmmm!

I found the line to enable antennas

For every camera, there is this line:
<Parameter name="highResInterior" type="bool" value="true" />

If you change it to
<Parameter name="highResInterior" type="bool" value="false" />

You should get antennas back. I tested it with the Red Bull t-cam, it works. I don't know any adverse effects with disabling highresinterior, I'll check it out. I couldn't have found it without Amfion's tips, thank you very much

Did a comparison with highresinterior enabled and disabled. My verdict: highresinterior disabled = ugly cockpit, at least in DX9:

Enabled:
2011092209014120.jpg

Disabled:
2011092209131292.jpg

Rather go without the antennas myself if this is the choice we have to make. Hopefully someone can find a better solution.

cameras.xml in the F1 2011\cars\name of team folder.

You'll need fergo binxml converter to convert the xml to a text file first.

I have the retail version. No I haven't updated the rapture driver because I though that a game that got released on friday would have the up to date ones. Clearly expecting crapmasters to do this is way over what they are capable.

A more simple fix would be to simply switch from rapture to software which has solved my problem. Don't notice any sound difference so I don't even know why they include the rapture stuff.

As for the replay fiasco, I have already said that I have no folder named "DataCatch" and no "replay.pbf" file in my F1 2011 directory or even on my hard disk. I searched my whole hard drive for them two things and nothing has turned up. I have the show hidden folder already on and there is no hidden DataCatch folder anywhere on this PC. It simply does not exist.

Any more suggestion where I can find a replay.pbf file when it's not on my hard drive?

I don't think I will ever race online again tbh. Will just get picked on again. Will stick to single player alone where I belong.

That is why we are doing coop together :)

Have been watching Youtube and the online races - wouldn't have thought it would be too bad with OcUKers, but they look terrible tbh. Loads of corner cutting, race ending collisions on the first corner and penalties for people that have done nothing wrong.

I would love to have a dedicated F1 simulator, but I'm sick of giving Codemasters the benefit of the doubt when it comes to supporting a release to a satisfactory conclusion, before they start work on the next incarnation...

TRD3 left with a 4000 slot upgrades hack, where their solution did not detect and rectify cars that had already been given all upgrades before the patch.

F1 2010 left with dumb AI, graphical issues with rain/puddles etc.

F1 2011 is one for me to observe from a distance and see what you owners are saying in 6 months time, in terms of unresolved issues...

Can't wait man. Sorry was a bit annoyed when I said that.

Anybody else using an F430 and having issues with the throttle deadzone?

In game, I have at least an inch of travel before any throttle is applied, this is with the deadzone in game set to 0%. It's a real problem because there is then not enough throttle range to be accurate and it becomes much more digital.

I've checked in the TM control panel and the throttle is working correctly, it registers the instant you touch it and runs smoothly all the way to 100% so it must be something in game that is forcing a dead zone even when it's set to zero.

Exactly the same problem (bug/ poor programming) on the DFGT, G27 and F430 - I currently have all three.

I've found increasing Satie on helps.

Greg - What do you have shadows and reflections set to? And what's your AA set to? What resolution are you running?

I'm getting 70fps solid on almost all tracks @ 1920 2xaa, dx11 with most settings high apart from shadows. (e8400, 5850)

Set shadows to medium and reflections to high and 4xAA. Just test it and see if you get a big performance jump.

Best thing to do is keep messing around and testing with fraps until you settle at 45fps upwards.

My catalyst (11.8) settings -

AA (use app settings)
Morph off
Filter Box
AF 8x
Tessellation optimized
Cat AI High quality
Mipmap High quality
AA Mode Multi-sample
Triple buffering.

Greg - I'm sure I remember manually setting AF in catalyst made a big difference. As I say, drop your AA level, shadows and reflections in-game and manually set AF in CC.
