***Official Formula One 2012 Thread***

Good job, I decided to start with a higher tier car this year though - couldn't face one of the back marking teams again!

I love playing as them for some reason. I guess it's because of the uphill struggle feels so satisfying when you get into one of the top teams :D

2012 looks toony as if it's from F1 Race Stars. Look how dark the base or the most dense parts of the trees become, near enough black. Where as F1 2012 stays bright green. It's like somebody took the contrast out?

Huh?

Which one do you like?

I think they both look quite nice.

My 120hz is fine still O.o

You could try change the settings in this file:

C:\Users\USER\Documents\My Games\FormulaOne2012\hardwaresettings\hardware_settings_config.xml

Open in Notepad and change the "<refreshRate rate="120" />" to 120.

Hi, my 3d vision has stopped working too with the patch. Setting the refresh rate to 120 doesn't help either (the game reverts to 800x600 res when I do this). A message comes up "Warning: attempt to run Stereoscopic 3D in non-stero display mode, please change to an acceptable mode"
Sounds like an issue with the graphics driver - I'm running 306.23.

Try this fix:

"Hi , Just thought I'd let you know a solution that worked for me.

1.Go to the nvidia control panel
2. Manage 3d settings , Change preferred refresh rate to highest available
3. Add f12012.exe under program settings, Then change the preferred refresh rate to "Use global setting.

Voila your now running 120hz. Even though the game will still tell you its 60hz in the options.
Just check the info on your screens osd and it will say 120hz.

I'm running gtx 670 ftw edition with a samsung S23A700

Hope this helps you guys out."

That may still cause an issue with 3D mode though.

What is the point of your above post VF? there will be always cheaters and hackers no matter what game it is.

BTW you don't have to worry about it as you got the game on PS3.

I'm amazed how so many people defend Codemasters here. There's a difference between cheaters and never ending bugs and problems. If the game was so good, such simple things would have been picked up. Not referring to that video.

Loved the truth to this from another forum.

It still has a lot of flaws and I don't think Codemasters are ever going to fully grasp (or make the effort) what a class Formula 1 game needs. They spend their time on these games modes like season challenge or champions mode which yes are different but why have them when you spend time improving the career mode or online. It's kind of like they want their money and if you want to buy the game you will, they get their money and you get moderate enjoyment for a month or two. They are not going to go out of their way to create a world beating game unfortunately, with that in mind I have my R Factor and GP4 (Which of late I have really enjoyed again). For me as a Formula 1 fan, these games keep entertained much more than Codemasters attempts and they have three now. Give the license to someone else and give them a chance to better on what you have started.

All this game has done for me is left me surprised that it is better than people thought it was going to be, but other than just boosted my gamerscore with the achievements being so easy.

- The handling is poor and inconsistent. Certain corners and kerbs throw the car uncontrollably into a spin (the inside kerb at Monza's second chicane for example) whereas you can completely cut other corners (Ascari) and the car doesn't even twitch
- The braking distances are totally unrealistic (top cars braking at 200m into the first chicane at Monza? I must have imagined watching them brake at the 150m board when I attended the race last year...)
- AI and the penalty system is dreadful - AI cars don't even go flat through Curva Grande ffs and the penalties are horribly inconsistent (AI cars pushing me into others resulted in me getting penalties, and in one case I was shunted into another car, causing them to spin and I got disqualified roflmao.gif )
- The lap times are unrealistic - I set the AI difficulty to the highest level, set a pretty poor qualifying time of 1.25.4...yet secured pole by several tenths
- The flag markerboards and other lights still don't appear to work properly - if you pit the exit light shows red (as it did in F1 2011), hardly a difficult thing to fix surely?

There's probably more things to pick up on but those are just off the top of my head. For me the most frustrating thing is so many of the errors are basic things that should be part of any F1 game (realistic braking distances, cars able to take certain corners easily flat, realistic lap times, kerbs taken at high speed unsettling the car etc) - these are all fundamental things in any F1 game. I'm not after a full simulation game and wouldn't expect that on a console format, but when they seem incapable of getting the basics right and instead spend all year pi**ing about changing the menus and concentrating on fluffy elements that add no value to the game (nominating a rival etc...and then when you beat said rival, his team immediately offer you a contract, even if it's Red Bull or McLaren...wow realistic!) then I do wonder if they will ever produce a decent game. I actually thought F1 2010 was a good starting point for them to build on (it had some big flaws but as their first attempt at F1 I thought it was ok) but they seem to have made the games worse ever since.

But they're decent games when the bugs are fixed?

I've played all 3 games and never experienced a single bug.

Seriously, give it a rest VF. There are plenty of positives on there too. Forums always have a lot of negativity because people are much quicker to rush to a forum to complain when things are going wrong (the rest will be playing and enjoying the game...like myself) - I don't see why you are so keen to bash the game?

Bad_HatHarry - F1 2010 is nothing like 11 and 12, they both are greatly improved :)

How can anyone enjoy career mode when your AI opponents do qualy times in the race and seemingly are not affected by fuel simulation? I seem to remember the same problem last season ( or maybe the season before that?) and i had to play with fuel sim off to actually have a half decent/non-stupid career but it doesnt look like you can turn it off this year?

Seriously, how is it possible to keep up when your best qualy lap will get you in 8th or so (with DRS all lap) but you have to do the same time all race to keep up. I still manage to keep my position though most of the time because you just create a train behind you and they never overtake...

It makes you wonder whether they do even play the game that they have made.
