Official Gigabyte DS3 Owners Thread

How fast should I be running the memory. Nominally it is 800; should I drop the multiplier down e.g., to 1.66, or can I run it over 800 (e.g., 2.00 multiplier)?

EDIT: now that I'm home I can see that the multiplier does not go below 2.00, so this means the RAM will be overclocked (over 800 Mhz).

Yes that is fine - Leave the divider to '2.00'

The ram will overclock - which means more performance!! - But if things become unstable, just up the VDimm (The voltage to the ram)

just swapped over from a single core AMD to a 805D as everything went **** up and died on me!

I fixed everything in nicely, its running on the retail fan at 2500rpm but the tempteratures are just  reporting now around 80degrees and all im doing is mooching around the PC not doing much. This temp normal on this board and for this CPU or should i go buy a decent cooler and AS5?
As soon as i try to overclock it atm the PC just reboots due to overheating i expect, so its running on defaults which sucks :(

random post as you're all talking about conroes :p

edit:

oh yeah, and does anyone know anything bad about 2 PCIe cards on this motherboard? PC boots to windows, says found new hardware 6200LE then reboots :s. Not sure if its the motherboard or graphics card as my 6800GT works fine in main slot!

currently running @3.0 Ghz(6600) using setting reccomended in the beggining of this excellent thread :)
only using the default intel h/s(am giving my watercooling gear a thorough clean and decoke)
temps are about 39 idle
is the system temp reading coming from that big northbridge h/s?as mine appears v toasty :( ,even got a quiet 80 mm zalman blowing at it !

All my bits came yesterday it was like xmas! :)..

Build went ok a few probs mainly from the scythe ninja being so big.. A warning for people with the cooler master 810 stacker case, I had to remove the internal 120mm fans and mount them on the outside to allow the ninja to fit in.

Straight away shoved 1.45v thru it and went up to 3Ghz :) Such a sweet mobo and CPU... so whiling to be clocked! Im sure I can go further and will try soon.

One thing though the chipset heatsink on this DS3 is SO hot to touch when OC'ed.. Gonna have to get a fan for it as I can't see it liking that for very long.

Just loving this mobo and system.. been waiting ages to get the money together to buy, im not disappointed at all :)

Welcome! Keep us updated ;)

Don't worry too much about the chipset temp.. several people who have put a fan on it or near it have reported no gain in overclocking, however it would certainly help the long term health of it :)

:) Thats good to know i'll keep fryin the eggs on it then hehe

I seem to have hit a wall at 440Mhz, anything over and XP doesnt want to boot. Im not too fussed as im happy at 3ghz which was my target.. but any suggestions to try.. my ram is already at 2.1v and CPU at 1.45v.

hi guys, i think i got a cold boot problem

specs, conroe e6600, gigabyte ds4, 2 gig giel 6400, 7600gt

when i turn my pc on cold it boots up then resets with all my overclock settings back to default

my overclock settings are 8x400 [3.2ghz] which is totaly stable once it warms up

when its cold it reboots with 266x8

whats up with it?

My E6300 (on DS3) will do 3.5Ghz 500fsb with 1.45v and settings as per the frontpage.. I run it 24/7 @ 3.0Ghz 430fsb with "normal" voltage and all the cpu tricks enabled. Runs about 1.1v when idle and shows 27c, at full chat show 1.34v and shows 45c..

I always run the PCIe @ 100fsb @ +0.1v, otherwise i do not get video on a warm boot.

Gotta be happy with that :)

I'm at 450x8 with my e6600 and Geil PC6400 (1:1 @ 4-4-4-12). I'm quite certain the board could run faster, but my cpu won't go over 3.6Ghz.

f6 bios has done wonders for me for overclocking. On f4 I couldnt get much out of it but now its sitting happily at 3.5ghz and im going to push on once its done a 24hr cyce of prime95.
