f6 bios has done wonders for me for overclocking. On f4 I couldnt get much out of it but now its sitting happily at 3.5ghz and im going to push on once its done a 24hr cyce of prime95.

What chip? E6300 or E6400? Did you need to raise the vcore? Think I might give this bios a shot.

hi guys, i think i got a cold boot problem

specs, conroe e6600, gigabyte ds4, 2 gig giel 6400, 7600gt

when i turn my pc on cold it boots up then resets with all my overclock settings back to default

my overclock settings are 8x400 [3.2ghz] which is totaly stable once it warms up

when its cold it reboots with 266x8

whats up with it?

anyone help me with this :(

yes f5 bios

update: it wont boot 1 notch over stock when cold

give it time to warm up back up to 3.6ghz fine?

when cold it just goes into an infinet boot loop

like on............................................ off...on...............................off so on so on

anoying as hell

Its me again, back after a bit of a layoff. I had to rma me geil DDR2, one stick was faulty. Anyways, I forgot to overclock the system, it was running so well at stock. I installed FEAR, and at high settings it was stutter city, so I'm sitting here at 2.8ghz everything at stock except +0.3v on the memory, priming away quite happily. Me question is, to run two instances of prime95, do I have to instal prime95 twice (second one to a different location) and then set the affinity of one cpu "0" and the second affinity in the other prime95 installation to cpu "1", or can I do it with one prime95 installed?
Cheers.

Further update, since overclocking to 2.8ghz, I can now play FEAR at 1280 x 960 and the framerate (going by the timedemo anyway) does not drop below 40fps at any time. I'll admit, I haven't seen such a marked increase in performance when overclocking before when using an A64 processor. I'll let it settle for a few days, then try for 3ghz or higher without increasing the cpu or chipset voltage.
I ran "01se", "03" and "05" yesterday and got:
40976, 20213, and 12148 respectively, which seems about right to me.

My DS3 and NR won't work either, and I didn't read this thread till after I tried so OC won't take it back :( So now what am I to do with my NR? Are Gigabyte going to release a fix/is there some way to get it working?

If I try it without any RAM in I get no output to monitor and a big long beeping thing which I take is to say there's no RAM? Also, is the CPU fan not supposed to turn on for a few seconds as thats what happens with mine? And with the RAM in, the CPU fan is in a stop/start cycle.

Ok thanks, so that definitely works? Thought I saw someone say it forces it no matter if you change it, or that might have been something else, i've slept since I read it.

I can't say it definately works, because I haven't tried it with that RAM. But the biggest reason for RAM not working in the DS3 is that the RAM needs different default settings to what the DS3 provides. Using the cheap RAM to boot, update the BIOS to the latest version and then set up the BIOS for the NR. It usually works fine.

Well i've just got some but he gave me PC2 3200 for some reason instead of 4200 (£8,not bad though) -_- Can't really be bothered to go back and change, would the 3200 work? Says at least 533 memory on the Gigabyte site.

My system seems more stable at the moment.. It was bluescreening when i was priming after an hour or so @ 3ghz. I upped the FSB voltage to +0.1 and also raised the CPU voltage to 1.46v.. whats the sensible max voltage for the CPU?

Went back and swapoped the 3200 for 4200, and it kinda works more. It kept either the stop/start thing or a few times it managed to POST but stopped at the memory testing line and did the DRAM error. I cleared the CMOS and that solved the DRAM error but it still a majority of the time does the stop/start thing and still won't go past the memory testing line, pressing Del, F6 or F12 do nothing either. If I hold down Del while booting it says at the bottom "Prepare to enter setup..." but then it does the DRAM error beep and does nothing. Tried the stick in all slots and it's the same for them all.

There's also a bit of text that appears in between the Main Pricessor: Intel... line and the mem test line:

"<CPUID: 06F6 Patch ID:0444>"

Not sure if that's supposed to be there or not?
Also turns out I have the F3 BIOS.

Anyone have any ideas?
