Official Gigabyte DS3 Owners Thread

Went back and swapoped the 3200 for 4200, and it kinda works more. It kept either the stop/start thing or a few times it managed to POST but stopped at the memory testing line and did the DRAM error. I cleared the CMOS and that solved the DRAM error but it still a majority of the time does the stop/start thing and still won't go past the memory testing line, pressing Del, F6 or F12 do nothing either. If I hold down Del while booting it says at the bottom "Prepare to enter setup..." but then it does the DRAM error beep and does nothing. Tried the stick in all slots and it's the same for them all.

There's also a bit of text that appears in between the Main Pricessor: Intel... line and the mem test line:

"<CPUID: 06F6 Patch ID:0444>"

Not sure if that's supposed to be there or not?
Also turns out I have the F3 BIOS.

Anyone have any ideas?

have you entered the bios using the cheepy ram?then changed the voltage of the ram to 2.1?turned off pc then installed your performance ram?

That's what i'm trying to do, but when I hold down Del during boot (won't do anything if I press Del after I leave it to boot) it says "Prepare to enter setup..." and does the DRAM error constant beep and then nothing else happens.

The 4200 I got is the first Samsung in the left column on the last page of memory compatability list so is it a bad stick or what to be getting a DRAM error? It manages to find out that it's 256Mb on the memory test.

Forget my last post, it looks like it was either a bad stick or it just didn't like it. Went and bought yet some more, but PNY. This time i'm in BIOS yay!

I've got windows installed now, and i've updated the BIOS to F6, changing the DIMM voltage with +0.3 (to 2.1V) didn't help in making my NR work though. It just turns on and then doesn't POST. However after reading this post I upped it to 2.2V and it works :D

Now my only problem is my 3DFuzion 7600GT doesn't display anything while the rest of the system boots fine and gets to Windows (my modem leds come on in Windows so I can tell) so i'm having to resort to my old old GF2 PCI card.

Bit of a long haul this system build, ideas for my Gfx card?

Thanks

which temp monitoring app do you guys reccomend? cos in the bios it says 42 ish and using the easytune 5 it says 42 ish idle YET the intel TAT app says around 60 idle :(
using the stock intel hs by the way

Mine says 47ish in BIOS yet 32 in easytune.

I'm getting a Fail on the DDR18V in PC Health Status, what's that about? And with my voltage upto 2.2 on my RAM it locks up unless I have a desktop fan covering the RAM, not too good :S

The fail on the DDR18V in PC Health Status means nothing.

And the RAM will run quite hot at 2.2v. Normal DDR2 is speced to 1.8v, so you're over-volting it by quite a bit.

Well it's either that or the 256Mb I used to get into BIOS :( Mine's specced at 1.9-2.0, so it's not quite as bad as if it were 1.8 but neither of those values work. Just upped my case fans to high and took away the desktop fan and so far so good...until I try to do anything slightly taxing :(

Do I need to set my PCI-E to 100/105Mhz to get my 7600Gt working or is that just if you want to overclock?

Hows this board doing with the E6600's? Just ordered a DS3 to tide me over and am hoping for at least 3.2ghz. Im using Gskill 6400 HZ RAM. :)
well... atm i am @3 ghz,using intel h/s @about 42 idle and with geil 800mhz ram
easy o/c i reckon there is a lot more is this combo, gotta get my w/c back on to really test it out :)

Good to know you're using the stock hsf too, i'm keeping that for a month or two and then getting a Thermalright SI-128 and an RD600/Bad Axe 2. :)

I've mine set to 105Mhz. It helps when you're overclocking your cpu.

Ah right. Anyone know how to get mine working then, or is it just 1 that won't work without another BIOS update fixing more Gfx card compatability issues?

Well that was weird, went to try my 7600Gt again, the first boot after I put it in it again showed nothing while the rest of my computer booted fine like before, so I turned it off. Then I tried it again and it worked :) Although for some reason there's too much green and even more blue so everything's a turquoise and I can't find a way to change it :S

Edit: just installed the newest drivers as opposed to the 9.1.3.1 on the CD and it started up with the same turqoise, then a few seconds after being in windows the screen went black then came back and it's all totally green (as in no red or blue at all) now. Tried my other monitor on the other socket to see if it's the card or the monitor settings that needs sorting and it won't even send a signal to it but still recognises that it's plugged in. wtf is wrong with this?

can you try the gfx card in another pc?or try a diff gfx card in yours?
might eliminate if the card is faulty :)

lol, dont I feel like a fool on so many levels with this computer build. Turns out the DVI-VGA adapter supplied has crap connectors or something, tried my old 1 and it's perfect colour now.
