Official Gigabyte DS3 Owners Thread

There is a standard IDE Port so your CDRW should be fine.

With the SATA, just connect it to an ORANGE port, that will let you boot normally.

If you have it on a purple one, you will need to have the RAID / AHCI drivers on Floppy.

Actually, Im sure that the purple ones are also ok because they default to NORMAL and oyu need to force them to be RAID or AHCI in the BIOS?

Try it in the middle slot.

Dont know why this did it, and I thinkits cured now, but for some unknown reason, I could not get mine to play ball unless I had a TV Card in the bottom slot, and the Audio in the middle slot... Any other combo of any slot or card, and it might work sort of, but even if it did see the card, I would have to reinstall the drivers... This led me to a loop that I could not break out of becaise I would install them, and then when it started back up, it would fail to find them and ask me to reinstall them and I had to shut down and restart to get them to work again, and then guess what? - Yup, it would ask for the drivers...

Middle slot seems to be the best for me... Also what BIOS are you running? Im on F7 seems to be the most stable for me.

just got my DS3 yesterday, going nicely so far :)

just wondered if using this NB cooler would be better than using the stock one? just got one laying around in my last mobo and i presume it would fit in a DS3 too

Press CTRL + F1 on the main screen, then go into the settings page.

set the system memory multiplier to 2x and then you can manually change the timings to what you need :)

and if you're running on 400fsb you might want/need to raise the FSB to +.1 and the MCH to +.1

Ok the memory is now running at 4-4-4-12 however it's still at only 400Mhz? The system memory multiplier is already at 2x as you can see in that picture.

I also put FSB to +.1 and MCH to +.1 but didn't seem to make any difference.

if it says 800 in the bios then its 800 :p

CPUz reports it at SDR, you then have to double it :)

Ok thats good news!

However how come mine says 667 800 (in the bios that is)? In that screenshot on the first page it just says 768 (which would be my 800 I guess).

I could not resist the special offer last week and got 2 500gig drives to bring a total of 6 sata hdd !!!!. the only problem is now my dvd drive does not show any ideas ????

because the SPD wants it to be at 667 and so sets an SPD multi of 2, but when you're at 400mhz the 2x puts it to 800 :)

best off setting it to manual and putting it as 2x :)

What other hardware do you have? We await overclocking results :)

Oh, nothing exciting:

Intel Pentium 4 2.80GHz (that will be an Intel E6600 in a few months)
ATi Radeon X1950 Pro
1GB RAM (that will be 2GB dual channel in a few months)

I'll probably get an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro aswell.

Do you suggest I use the provided overclocking tools that come with the motherboard, or ATi Tools or something? I've never done much overclocking before, but this is a better system than I usually get and I'd like to push it to the limit.
