Game chose very high and high for the settings, I whacked them all to ultra where available and very high and put it into 21:9 mode and 3440x1440. Getting ~50 fps with FXAA enabled too. Max draw distances too is what the game chose.

initial performance results 980 SLI 5930k 4.5 Ghz default settings pretty much 144fps locked

just don't forget the appmanifest file too in the steamapps folder

I copied entire contents of steamapps folder, steam has both c:\ and the mechanical d:\ install directories setup. So I should just be able to re open steam and just 'delete' the game and then redownload pointing to D:\ and it carry on right?

I don't think his key was stolen, just an invalid one.

I think it was. The product code got shown when he booted the game through steam. After it finished loading stuff the "activation code" that gets input into rockstar social is the same as the steam product code. Poor sod
