***Official GTX 670 thread***

I read a post online and someone said they had a 1320 boost on the core and 150 on memory and that their BF3 never went below 71 fps.

As this seems to be the place to go for info on the card, I just wanted to ask if you thought that I was maybe getting low performance from my card, or if it was reasonable to think that a GTX 670 could never drop below 71fps at 1080p on Ultra with AA maxed in BF3 multiplayer on a stern overclock?

Pinky.

As above. Anything over 1200 on GPU you're doing well (Mine's stable at 1250). On the 670s the memory seems to do a lot better (although models may vary). I'm running +525 on the memory clock on mine.

I don't play BF3, but every system will be different. You're in the right ballpark as you say and all you can do is push things as far as possible while keeping stability. If that's not enough for you then you need to upgrade :)

Running a 670 windforce here and playing a lot of bf3. Ultra settings, HBAO on, motion blur off, 16x af, 4x msaa, aa post off at 1920x1200. Screenshot from Afterburner after a few mins in game.

Card is oc'd to +120 core, +760 memory, (1310mhz core, 7528mhz memory). Ive tested it stable in heaven 3.0 at +130, +780 but got a black screen freeze in bf3 so backed it down a touch. Cpu is an 17 920 DO @4.0ghz. Max cpu core usage of 61%. Just by glancing at the afterburner osd, gpu usage seems to stay at 98-99% usage, bit crude i know. Vram use of 1500mb ono.

Nice overclock there :)

Is your windforce made in China or Taiwan (little sticker on the back of card). From what i've seen so far it seems the ones made in China clock well compared to the Taiwan ones (like mine)

Would have thought you needed at least +150 on the core to make 1300mhz

Boost clocks here..

Without us touching anything, each card is has its own boost clock (overclock) and dome are better than others.

The +120 core that he shows is the "offset" which is the overclock we can force on top of the boost. My cards max stable core offset is +100 which yeilds me a max clock is 1228.

Thats how I understand it anyway :p Quite confusing these new Nvidia cards.

Thanks a lot for taking time to post that information. I tried running today briefly with Vsync off and the GPU does instead settle at max usage (which I think is normal) but all the tearing on screen is just so distracting I just can't enjoy the game like that. Dont know how you guys manage to ignore it so easily.

My PCB was made in China and I've hit +90 on the core and +740 on the memory, 1279MHz core and 3744MHz (7488 effective) memory.

Got myself a russian BF3 key for £14 today, so I'll be playing online today :D

No probs, i do get a little bit of tearing but not bad enough to put me off playing. Previous to the 670 i was running gtx 470's in sli, 0c'd at 750/1500/1674. With those cards i used afterburner to limit fps to 59, (to keep heat down). Gpu usage was around 80% iirc. A constant 99% with the frame limit removed, but the temps and noise got too much and vram use was pretty high on the above bf3 settings with no msaa. The single 670 gives better frame rates in game as well compared to the dual card setup.

Funnily enough for me though is that even if the games doing say 90-100 fps with vsync off, for me it just doesnt LOOK smooth, the gfx card is dumping ****loads of frames to the monitor and it cant keep up at all so all that screen tearing and missed frames makes it look like its running LESS than 60 IMHO.

Could be wrong though.

And it would be 1128mhz with no +100... It's all logical no black art or self programming intelligence, just good old look up tables....

This load, this temp = given over Boost (cards bios dependant)

Not really confusing, just the rubbish that is written about it :D

Don't take my word for it, go do some testing ;)

Got my 2 windforce 670's in.

Not done an awful lot of playing around, but they certainly do perform well in BF3.

Not so much in Heaven, but I don't play that often.

Colours seem a bit dull compared to ATI, which have been using for years now.

Top card runs at either 1137 or 1156 (or something like that), and temps get into mid 70's

Bottom card goes up to 1170 and seems to keep under 70. May swap them around some time if I can be bothered, but I am not even concerned about overclocking them.

I may have a quick go just to get an idea of what they can achieve, but they are more than likely fast enough, even at 2560x1440.

PS - memory usage 1.9GB - should I be worried?

Cheers V R, background is of Candice swanepoel, south african model.

@eyetrip, you could use a custom fan profile to help keep temps down a bit. Im also looking at adding a second card, though airflow in my case isnt great. Ive had windforce cards in sli before, (gtx 460's) in my other rig. Though they ran incredibly hot due to poor airflow and board spacing. 96 and 89c respectively.
