***Official GTX 670 thread***

I have been flipping between favouring the Gigabyte / KFA2 OC and the Asus (not the Top edition) and there are good compelling reasons as to why each of them are excellent cards and I'm sure that I would not be disappointed with any one of them.

Which one is another matter.!?

Maybe I'm leaning a little towards the Gigabyte (£339) as I have had the Gigabyte 460GTX and it has been both excellent and very quiet. Their warranty is also good and UK based.

The Gigabyte also cools the vram as well, not sure about the KFA2 card, but the Asus doesn't. There is practically no difference between noise, gigabyte vs asus, not sure about KFA2 again. And then I think I've seen that temperatures are slightly lower on the gigabyte than the Asus, but its pretty hard to tell what with the amount of different setups etc. Then everyone on this forum (and elsewhere mind), love how the gigabyte overclocks, not heard many (if any) negative comments on its overclocking potential, and if there were...then it just turned out to be a bad card.

Which of these cards is the best bang for buck

Out of the ones I'm looking at (Asus DirectCUII, EVGA FTW, Gigabyte WF, KFA2 OC), according to Hexus, the Asus is the quietest, particularly at load, runs the coolest and in my view, looks the best.

However, I don't think you can go wrong with any of them, all good cards.

Got mine this afternoon (Gigabyte Windforce), and I'm very happy with it. Been playing BF3 with Ultra settings 1920 x 1200 and fps never goes below 65. Max gpu temp in only 65 deg celcius and I don't even hear the fan. Very happy with it. Haven't noticed any lag or other problem yet, but it's early days. Fingers crossed !!!

I would go for the very cheapest reference GTX680, any of the 670's will have to be exceptional to keep up with a 680 and that's assuming the 680 only has a very small OC potential.

Given the Asus is the coolest, I can tell you in a very good case it does not cool as well as a reference 680 (with a few mods), In an open test rig or with big fans in the side of the case it may just match the reference 680 and be a little quieter,

+1
1 x OC'd 670 flat out = ref 680 IMHO

Thanks for that, it does seem an impressive card and I can find much more information about it now :)

I have the Galaxy GTX 670 GC. It's really no better than the Gigabyte or no worse.
The Asus card is nice, but they have problems, and two of the five heatpipes don't make contact with the gpu. The card still runs cool though.

I would get the MSI Power Edition.

My 670 comes clocked at 680 speeds. A "slight" OC gives me a faster card than a stock 680.

Asus 670 DirectCU only has 3 heat pipes.
As for faster speeds it may be but what i've seen in game preformance the ref 680 edges it and i've been lucky enough to try a few.
Like i said its only my opinion on what i've seen for myself.

Your right it was a 680 I was looking at. Not the 670 Asus. my bad
I don't see enough difference in gaming performance to warrant a 680 over a 670 at all.

I can pick up the Asus Direct CU II for £326 inc VAT so it seems a good buy. Or the Gigabyte Wind Force for £339 inc VAT.

The Asus seems to allow voltage control through software for both memory and core, albeit I'm not sure if that is need..?

Gigabyte have a really good track record of dealing with warranty issues.

So I'm kinda stuck between the two cards and which of them to get.

Thoughts please..?
