***Official GTX 670 thread***

Not tried overclocking my Windforce yet to be honest, haven't had a need to.

It's this case http://www.anandtech.com/show/5556/lian-lis-pc90-the-hammer-strikes-hard not your typical end user case, but the results speak for themselves.

LOL, so you went from one of those big lumps with massive fans everywhere to a correctly designed Case and... Just run it buy us again how much better are the temps
GFX Card Mobo etc ?

I am very pleased as I bought one of these (not Tested yet) based on what i thought was the way a case should be laid out ;)

You made my day, so tell us what you think about the case ?

Hi guys, I want to start overclocking my 670 windforce.

Do you increase the power limit, or just increase the Core clock and Memory clock only. What is the power limit for anyway if there is a Core voltage adjustment ? I am planning to use MSI Afterburner but am open to suggestions...
cheers

I've dropped at least 4-5 degrees off the CPU at load, at least 5-6 degrees off the GPU at load, motherboard temps are a lot lower too.

The only downside with the case and it also states in the review is there isn't really any cable management to speak off, so requires a bit more work to get it tidy.

======================
This morning I just tried adjusting the sliders for Core clock and Memory clock only.

I can only push the core clock to +80, but the memory clock I have tried +500 without Heaven crashing but I have stopped.

I think I may have a bad 670.

default clocks:

overclcoked core +80 and memory +500:

The overclocked result doesn't look good.

Did I do something wrong with the settings etc..?

Wow, that's impressive, are the fans quiet ?
Cable management I assume you mean nowhere to hide the mess :D
That's really not a problem if a little time and effort is put in. I don't think the guy in the review could tie a pair of shoe laces :D

What are you on about ?

Sounds normal !, It's all down to the boost clock carp, that determines the real MHZ.
If you are boosting to 1200 you have done well, 1250 you have a good one over that you got very very lucky

Selected MSI GTX680 Lightnings just get in to 1300's

(I am a total loss to explain people claiming 1350 mhz + )

I'm happy with my Windforce 670 at 1235 core, BF3 6 hr session stable. With my custom fan profile it doesnt go over 58c :D

With nvidia forcing clocks down on furmark I dont know what else to test stability with? Though I think 6 hrs of BF3 should prove stable?

Crysis 2 DX11 hires textures max settings is about the most demanding load test.
EVGA scanner for a quick test.

I read Nvidia is altering the drivers to back down the boost clocks as so many cards are failing

PLayed BF3 for 2 hours and been monitoring clock speeds as:

Core clock - 1269 Mhz
Shader clock - 2538 Mhz
Memory clock - 3506 Mhz

Are these speeds acceptable?

Definitely acceptable, the speed of your memory seems to give the best performance increase over the speed of you GPU, your GPU is fast too. :)

I would be very pleased with that ;)

I don't want to start a ****ging contest regarding overclocks, because unless everyone is running the same CPU,equipment and resolution we are not comparing eggs with eggs !

But like I say Crysis 2 maxed out will give you the best stability test

So I reckon you have set about 1100 on the core to give you your 1269 mhz boost, am I correct ?

The default core clock is 980, I am only able to add +80 otherwise Heaven will crash.
On the memory clock, default is 1502, I have increased it to +500, but I was also able to increase it to +650 without Heaven crashing but I just settled with +500 for now.

The 1269 is the actual usage while playing according to Afterburner and EVGA precision.

Are You saying 1269 is not mhz ?

Boost profiles here.. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Gigabyte/GeForce_GTX_670_Windforce/32.html

1150mhz is top overboost. So your +80 should give 1230mhz core when boosting. (assuming same operating temp) and sufficient overpower setting.

What's power setting? Sorry I'm lost with these new overclocking stuff.
The temp has never gone above 67deg C.

Power target or power limit, TOP SLIDERS

It sets how much over the design power limit you want to allow the card to run at. this will affect boost clock speed and duration.
