***Official GTX 670 thread***

Seems boost adds a lot of randomness to these cards even when you get the same brand, from Hardocp.

I went to the fedex depot to pick up my pair of gigabyte oc's since the overnight shipping got delayed due to an error... they're running at different speeds even non-overclocked which is kinda weirding me out (one boosts to 1120 out of the box, the other goes to 1190 out fo the box, both working together in SLI and those clocks are at the same time). The lower one is seeming to hit a wall on oc'ing past about 1230, while the higher one is at the same time running 1290.

So even at stock it's possible for one to boost higher than another of the same type.

Question to Windforce x 3 owners. Is this card quiet when idle, and how noise it is under load?

Mine just hovers around 40-45% under load and temps are around 65C during heaven bench. I can slightly hear the gpu fan but it is quiet enough. My coil whine is even more audible when its below 45% fan speed.
anything above 50% fan speed and you definitely hear it

when its idle its dead silent bout 20-30% fan speed

Is it any chance at all that you can record sound and upload on YT?
Just 30 cm from your PC, just sound.

crappy clockers.

my stock winforce only boosts to 1150 sometimes 1154 and rarely 1163
+100 to get to 1250 and anything more it crashes while Bf3 gameplay or unigine sceneloop.

memory I had +200 and it crashed in bf3 as well

so i may have the worst 670 :D

I'll stick with mine then.Fan noise is a bit annoying when idle,as is slightly whistling , but not so bad.

yea better stick with card as it has a very good stock boost

if you get a gigabyte it might be worse

EDIT: manged to get audio
https://rapidshare.com/files/1540796866/Gb_Wf_Fan.MP3 (403kb)
initial fan speed set to 40 % you wont hear it over my case fans
mouse clicks are the cue when it will change fan speeds to 50% then 65 > 85 > 100

The windforce are actually very good clockers based on most forums and experiences so far but you probably do indeed have a "bad" one.

1250 core is not bad at all. A little puzzled why your memory will not go to +200.

Best for me so far is +750 stable on memory alone. Combined overclock +171 (1360) core and +679 (7326) on memory.

Yea I need recheck again to make sure it wasnt a bf3 app crash

it ran heaven + 3d mark 11 with +700 memory but when I brought it down to +200 and played an mp match and it crashed after 45mins or so

Anyone know if PCie 3 slots on a Z77 would make a difference?

My P8P67 deluxe can't be upgraded to Pcie3 because I'm still on a B2 so it's being RMA'd.

Not sure wether to buy a new board in the meantime. Hmmm.

Not for a single card no. The difference between PCIe 2.0 x16 and PCIe 3.0 x16 is within a margin of error to call them the same.

Multi-card set up's are different though.

I'm temped with the AsusDIRECTCU II, the fan noise on the ref KFA2 is starting to grate on me, my old GTX570 in heaven was practically inaudible over my case fans, I may even DSR and go back to a 570 for now, it's disappointing that even the windforce is audible on load.

This is slightly worrying as I was planning on the KFA2 ref card. What case/fans have you got?

What are you trying pgi? New bios?
Just trying to see the bios limits of the card, something as little as bumping the voltage max to 1.2v and max power draw to 125% would make a world of difference.

Hi, I managed to bump my BIOS to ROM with the latest NVflash lastnight.

http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2133/NVFlash-5.118-for-Windows.html

Use command nvflash --save filename.rom in command prompt.

Ah I totally forgot about nvflash! Can't seem to get it running at all, it just cycles options and then exits

Be nice if a bios editor was updated to support the 6x0 cards, NiBiTor won't read anything new.

Edit: Derp, helps to be in the nvflash dir in cmd :p

Edit 2: Seems the latest NiBiTor is being kept under wraps until all the dangers of flashing 6x0 cards is known. But there seems to be a few 680 owners that have flashed the stock EVGA 680 over to a EVGA SC bios.

I did the very same thing. Apparently 6.06 NiBiT supports 6 series card, can't find a DL for it sadly.
