***Official GTX 670 thread***

I did the very same thing. Apparently 6.06 NiBiT supports 6 series card, can't find a DL for it sadly.

Ahh, latest I could find was 6.04 which only supports as far as 580/590.

I guess we now play the waiting game, but it does look like we may be able to squeeze a little extra out of our cards with a bios flash.

Its not even reading anything sensible with a hex editor.

This is slightly worrying as I was planning on the KFA2 ref card. What case/fans have you got?

I have the stock fans that came with the Antec p180 case, all 120mm's, all set to low, you can't hear any 'motor' (fan whine) noise from my case, only air being pushed through it which is audible but not annoying.

I have nvidia inspector open atm, idle @ 30% I can't hear the fan at all over my case fans so effectively inaudible to me, at only 5% extra @ 35% I can just about hear it over my case fans, @ 40% it becomes quite apparent, the problem is the pitch, it's a grindy motor sound (wharrrrrrrrrr), in Crysis it ramps right up to 55% which unless you wearing headphones starts become a bit annoying.

Just read this http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Intel/Ivy_Bridge_PCI-Express_Scaling/22.html and it seems that there is less than 1 FPS difference between PCIe 2x16 vs PCIe 3x16 running Heaven at 1920 x 1020.

My 670 at stock and i52500k @ 4.6 beats their i7-3770k @ 4.7 and 680 by 5FPS lol.

(yeah I know I know)

They don't say what settings they use for the Heaven bench, I'm guessing max?

decided to just go with the 2GB version after the benchmarks HERE mirrored my own experience with my previous gtx 560ti 2gb sli setup, 2GB IS enough for 5760x1080.

what do think is best cooler wise for an sli setup? stock cooler exhausting hot air outside the case or just go for like a windforce and just enjoy the lower temps whilst not caring about increased case temps

I cant hold out any longer all this 670 talk is making me jealous, I am going to upgrade from my 580, now which 670 should I go for?

I am thinking the KFA2 EX or the Gigabyte Windforce, which one?

General feeling is that the Windforce is the better buy at the moment.

Dunno. But they are using v2.0 and not 3.0? Would that make a difference?

It would, 3.0 generally gives higher scores than 2.0/2.5

Edit: Think I've just fought my way to the top of the 1080p batman AC thread with a 141 avg, overtaking a pair of 580's along the way :p

Im in the same dilema myself, gonna be ordering in a couple of days time. I was looking at the KFA2 EX OC and the Gigabyte windforce. One card initially then later a 2nd when i move to a 120Hz lcd. Ive had windforce cooled cards before in sli but found them to be extremely hot running, albeit the board they were in was very tightly spaced.

Looks like EVGA 670 Superclocked versions are being replaced with FTW editions in the US, I doubt they will be as nice here in the UK

http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?high=&m=1592308&mpage=1#1592831

The EVGA GeForce GTX 670 just launched, and we are all very excited about the great performance as you are aware. Some customers have just started receiving their cards and playing games on the new 600 series architecture.

On the forums we have noticed several users experiencing artifacting with the Superclocked version (02G-P4-2672-KR). We understand some users frustration about receiving a new product that is not working. Customer satisfaction is EVGA’s top priority and in order to ensure this, I have received special permission to those affected users above to offer an upgrade to the FTW model (02G-P4-2678-KR) with 2nd day cross shipping (in US). Replacement cards will begin processing Monday with shipments planned for Tuesday (5-15-2012).

This issue has already been escalated to top management, and is receiving top priority. We will update on this by Monday end of day.

If you have any concerns or issues with your GTX 670 Superclocked, please register your product and email our Product Manager, Jacob Freeman at [email protected] with your serial number and detailed issue.

Thanks,

I've hit a wall, as Batman AC isn't as stressful as say heaven, I can push the core clock much higher without crashing. But setting +210 core (should give 1400mhz) throttles back to 1189mhz (stock). 55c temps too.

I've noticed someone else complaining about fan noise on the KFA2 here. Its not the cooler that's to blame but the manufacturers rubbish application of thermal paste. This was the case with my previous MSI cards as well.

If you replace the thermal paste with a minimal / thin amount of MX4 or similar paste, it will knock a considerable amount of heat off the GPU.

The only time mine is noisy is if the fan is set to over 72%. But with the cooler reseat I can keep 1250 MHz running at <65 degrees, compared to this other people are only getting 60 degrees on the windforce cards clocked to 1250 MHz. The KFA2 also has a stock boost of 1215 Mhz (and someone else her has 1229 MHz), while the gigabyte is 1189 MHz and in some cases less. Getting good clock speeds on these cards is turning out to be a huge gamble, and the same will be the case with the Asus card.

The non top standard Asus DCU card is running at the default base clock of 915 MHz, there's no guarantee that you will get a better card. The review on tweaktown showing an Asus card running at 1110 base and 1890 / 7560 memory clock is obviously a cherry picked sample sent by Asus, as these cards are still unavailable to buy.

Had a good long play on BF3 last night, some at stock some at OC, can't say I really noticed a difference in frame rates tbh

I really think the gains you get overclocking in actual gaming is negligible tbh, especially when it comes to minimum fps, I don't think it's worth it when you consider the extra heat/noise.

But there's a big difference in games between the reference clocked, and pre overclocked GTX 670 cards.

It won't make any noticable difference however if your frame rates are already around 60 on a 60 hz monitor. Overclocking is for benchmarks, then you can run stock speeds for games. There's no difference in games with my CPU at 3.33 GHz or 4.38 as well, at least no difference that I can see so I drop it back to stock speed after my benchmarking is done.
