****Official GTX580 user reviews/benchmarking/overclocking thread****

Nice to see the 580 benchmark's, can't see the problem posting 480 benchmarks to compare with the 580, the first lot should have been stock then OC'd..

Raven how much time do you spend on thease forums lol :) i've not seen you off them yet! Not that it's a bad thing ;) So when you upgrading to a 580! and giving me you're 480!

here we go:-

580GTX 850mhz 1175mhz vs 5870 950mhz 1250mhz

over 50% in this benchmark.
NICE upgrade so far.

(soz my copy paste skills are terrible.)

LoL, very nice Sky rocket, but get rid of the white, you can just crop it in paint and just resize it abit, would look far better when showing what your cracking 580 can do.

I might be able to squeeze a touch more out of my 470 and give your 580 a thrashing lol, pig's have a better chance of flying.

Has any one broke the 850 barrier, can't wait to see one under water ...

Street fighter comparison ( 580gtx now stable at 860-1175 vs 5870 950 - 1250 )

Again over 50% - I know TWIMTBP game. Still shows same % as Tropics.

Lets move it up a notch!

Lets try AMD's Mecha Demo DX11 and see how 580GTX does in AMD's own DEMO......

ouch big time wooping. Never goes under 40 whilst 5870 spends some of the time in mid to low 20's...
:D

AVERAGE FPS:-
580 GTX OC = 82.75
AMD 5870 OC = 56.8

Thats a 45% increase in AMD's own demo.....

Anyone know if the Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme Plus is compatible with the GTX 580? It's not listed on the Artic Cooling website but I'm assuming it won't be an issue seeing as the 580 has pretty much the same layout as the 480? Got my GTX 580 up to 860mhz @ 1.037v but wan't to go further and quieter :p

It'd be really nice to see a clocked 580 vs clocked 480+5870 in some other high end games. Just curious about the 580 clock scaling....percentage gain etc

Out of interest what resolution did you run that at and why are you not comparing against the 5970?

Hardly fair using Nvidia's flagship card and not comparing against ATI's flagship is it?

With quiete fan, less draw, less heat and better cooling yes.

It uses almost the same amount of power (although granted, GTX480 will use some more when overclocked), better cooling can be had with a cooler upgrade on GTX480, performs marginally better than GTX480 clock for clock.

People who upgraded from GTX480s are mad, especially considering that GTX480 can be had for less than £300 new these days. Some people have way too much money /jealous :p

5970 is dual gpu
We are talking single gnu here andy

But the GTX580 is priced to compete with the HD5970. It hardly makes sense comparing a new flagship card to last years second fastest.

Really the results that matter are from the HD5970, GTX480 and GTX580 at stock and clocked.
